Gave my bike for second service yesterday, today in the morning when I drove back from office I noticed a mild burning smell coming for the engine and when I looked at the radiator the fan was not running. As today is Sunday I can't get it fixed. Did any one have idea where the radiator fan wiring runs in the bike. I think the fan runs all the time when ignition is on not sure what may be the cause. Please any one had problems with radiotor fan earlier help me...Know your limits Exceed them often for Dirt, Guts & Glory....!!

A peculiar scenario
Hello... wanted to share a peculiar situation I faced with my bumble bee...
Off late the top speed I could reach on my bike had drastically reduced (~90KMPH max)... My odo reading is at 6300kms...
When I took it to auto service for the first time to check the issue, the mechanic manually adjusted the AFR screw and asked me to check for a couple of days and get back to him if the problem persisted... the power seemed to have increased at low speed but the problem with the top speed still persisted....
I took it to the svc again... this time the mechanic put the bike on tuner (CO level check)... Ideally the CO level is supposed to be at 1.500... but after trying to adjust for a long time, the max that could be achieved was 1.3... I was asked to check it again and get back if the problem persisted... And it did!!!
Hence I went back again today... and asked him to do a thorough check... the mechanic suspected the carburetor valve to be the reason... hence after consulting with a senior mechanic, they decided to dismantle the bike and check the valve... though the valve did not have a hole or a tear in it, the rubber had expanded and they diagnosed that to be the reason... However only later did they find out that there was no stock :/ ... they finally called up Khivraj Kasturbha road Svc and got the stock(Luckily they had stock)... they fit the new valve and guess what... my bike is back to normal... easily revving past the 100kmph mark...
Now comes the question whether I have to pay for the spare part as the bike is still in warranty... the svc personnel were not sure themselves... however I have made the payment now and will probably write a mail to bajaj asking them clarification as to why I have to pay for this spare part....
Quite exhaustive.. hope it is helpful...

@ Annydhanya, You don't have to pay for that... the bike is still under warranty na?
And the problem was with carb. So you don't have to pay.sigpicUSED IN PAST: Ct100, Victor, Xcd 135For a true motorcyclist, the straight portions of the roads exist just to take him from one turn to the next!

@JK: I was sure I should not pay for it but the service personnel were not... and it was too late in the day to get into an argument... hence I paid up... However I have written to Bajaj asking them for clarification and refund.... lets seeOriginally posted by J K View Post@ Annydhanya, You don't have to pay for that... the bike is still under warranty na?

Hi all. Done 600km on my NS, and will be getting the first service done tomorrow. Anything I need to be wary of? What oil should I use?
Also, two days back I noticed a weird noise coming from around the rear sproket - to me it sounds as though the drive chain is rubbing against the chain cover or something like that. Or maybe there's something sticking to the rear brake caliper which is rubbing against the disc? It is not a continuous sound. Please help.
Also, after the first service, is it advisable to ride at 5k+ rpm?
Thanks.

Check the coolant level first. If its normal then check for the fans. I don't know what u mean by"fan runs all time when ignition is on" To check the fans, idle for 5-10 minutes and the fan should start running...Originally posted by nihanth_reddy View PostGave my bike for second service yesterday, today in the morning when I drove back from office I noticed a mild burning smell coming for the engine and when I looked at the radiator the fan was not running. Reading the owners mnul would help you in this case, where it's small details you want to know.Originally posted by Manjunath Jadhav View PostCan somebody tel me the details on the fuel tank capacity?
Whats its full capacity?
How much does it have in reserve?
How much is there in the 'ON' condition?
12l i think is the capacity.
Cheers

I am happy to announce to you guys that, after ripping at 9kRPM at odo 500kms, and again began ripping it once I crossed 1000km, my bike is giving me 36kmpl(fair enough given that I drive like a hooligan, I love ripping my bike). The oil level is constant. Vibes are under control. Except some tuning problem, the bike is in good condition. Sturdy engine afterall.
Pretty good bike. No offence but I am a 'R15 Ego-Buster' now. They open their throttles and zoom past me and provocate me.... I blip the throttle and voila...! But R15 is still one fine bike! Hope it had a 200cc powerplant instead of the current 150cc.Last edited by Manjunath Jadhav; 02-25-2013, 09:40 PM.
