  • Was browsing the motul website for products. Does " technosynthese" mean semi- synthetic. One more query. Read a lot of users stating that they use various motul oils but they are not available ( or on display on the website ) in the required grade i.e. 15w50. So is ok to use a slightly diff grade like 20w50 or 15w40

Rich tuning improves acceleration and reduces top end...make the mixture a bit lean and u should reach the earlier top speed

and i too am using motul 3000 and i feel bajaj oil felt better in terms of acceleration and power delivery...but motul oil is much better in terms of smoothness of the engine....also reduces a little vibes

there is no 15W40 motul oil available AFAIK

      yes technosynthese is semi synthetic

the required grade is 20W50 and not 15W50

still 15W50 can be easily used

motul 3000 comes in 15W50 and is a mineral

motul 3100 and 5100 come in 20W50 i suppose(20W40 also available but dont use) these are semi synthetic

motul 7100 and 300v come in 20W50 again i suppose are are full synthetic

use according to budget and riding style and monthly usage of the bike

Just find the Motul dealers and call them to see what they have got. Try 2-3 dealers at least. You will find the dealers details in Engine oil thread of xBHP.

20W50 is required grade but You can use 15W50. I am sure you get either 20W50 or 15W50 in all the product series of motul i.e 3000, 3100, 5100, 7100 and 300V. So don't worry.

        xW40 is strictly NO-NO.

        • My Short Experience With P200NS

I Got My P200 NS on 7th July 2012, The Performance is great. However I'm not satisfied with the grip of the rear tyres. Gonna fit MRF Vyde 140/70, For Rs 2600 in Pune. The seller said that he will give me 500-600 discount after checking the old Eurogrip's condition . I also had fitted Projector Setup 8000k with Demon Eye and Angel eyes. But due to lack of space in the headlight area, the connector wires were getting loose and thus the Headlight was turning off every alternate day. Hence i got rid of the Projector Setup and currently using Philips Extreme Vision Halogen 55/60 W. The Spread of Low beam is great, High Beam throw is simply awesome. Its 20-30 % brighter than the stock bulb. Will post the Pics of New Rear Tyre in few days.

          • Recently I started searching for good lighting alternatives to the stock 55/60w headlamp bulb. My main goal was a projector setup, because I liked the way the angel eye looked on the NS's headlight. I was much more impressed when I actually saw one NS on fb with a beautiful white angel eye. Asked a few friends, posted stuff on xbhp, read a lot of pages to find out what's best and what isn't. One major feedback I got was that projectors are too common nowadays and can be found on many many bikes and also, the bulb burns out pretty quick and as a result, there would be a burn in the pocket too. But then, I got a better feedback for a HID. It costs less, lasts longer, no show off like the projectors and "turns night to day" as a member said here. So there's where my money went and,

That looks spectacular, pls provide the details !
actually today I fitted blue LED parking bulbs. It looks really cool though I'm worried about Cops, I've heard Police in Delhi can sometimes stop bikes with LEDs & HID. The bike electrician who provided the LEDs asked if I also wanted to fit HID kit, Cost = Rs 1100. I said no budget for that right now.. but infact I'm not sure if I really want it.
also took the huger off by myself, just 2 hex screw had to be taken out as told by bs_chauhan. 5mm allen was required. thanks !.. Surprisingly I like it without the huger. it's a change. I can put it back within seconds when I wish.. so it's good. the bike looks more furious now

High Intensity Discharge or HID is a kind of bulb which has no tungsten wire unlike conventional bulbs. In fact it consists of two ends separated by a small gap, enclosed in a glass bulb filled with gases to facilitate the purpose. When turned on, current 'jumps' from one end to another and the gases attain a plasma state to produce a huge amount of light energy per unit quantity of electricity consumed. In short, more light for the same power consumption. HID kits come with 2 bulbs placed near each other, one for low beam and another for high. Mine's a single hid, i.e only the low beam is a h4 8000K bluish white light. The high beam is a normal tungsten bulb.
Costs involved: 1200 bucks for the hid kit + 300 bucks fitting charges.

Halogen bulb is basically any halogen like bromine or iodine filled in a tungsten wire bulb for better luminosity.

A projector is a kind of reflector which is specifically built for evenly spreading the light emitted from the bulb within, thus reducing glare. They also come with an illuminated ring (angel/devil eye) around the projector glass, purely for aesthetic purpose. It's pretty popular among R15 owners.

Regarding the reflectors getting burnt, I've read that here on xbhp but I've also seen many bikes' reflectors working fine even after very long usage. Only, I had noticed the 220's headlamp glass cracked as a result of heat generated from the hid. It was obvious since the light is designed to come out of a small window.
Still, fingers crossed. Nothing ventured, nothing gained And my electrical warranty is void.

Like you mentioned, the cops create trouble for LEDS & HIDS. It's the hid which is the cop magnet. They are fine with the leds since it doesn't hurt anyone's eyes does it? Leds are fine, I have white ones since a while now and not even once have I been stopped for them. I'm most probably right about Delhi too

                  As promised,

Yes, the pic isn't clear coz it's a 2MP camera. Anyway, the lamp's got a really good throw and has definitely been 'bang for the buck'.

It's your choice now bro.... But don't take it immediately to 7k+ RPM, take it slowly.. Let the engine get use to higher RPM'S... Have fun and get ready to experience the beast At its full potential

                      Cheers

are you saying you haven't taken it above 7k even once in your 1000km ? touch 9k & you'll get an incredible feeling on this bike man. go go !! but don't abuse
                        @aditya
yourf HID is same kind the bike electrician was talking about today, he was already fitting it on a RTR180. He turned it ON on RTR though it wasn't glowing at it's brightest instantly.. he said as it heats up the brightness also increases ?

anyone knows where to buy Motul decals Online ? or something cool ? I can't find it locally.. no Motul decals anywhere.

                          .
Very true. It takes about 20 seconds to attain all glory

                          • Thanks guys for all your advices.

                            Report of my gaadi(ODO=1200km):
Engine is pretty smooth, but gets rough as temperature increases due to city traffic at noon.
(Question: My engine tone changes at around 6.5-7.5k RPM, a loud hollow engine tone is heard above the RPM range I mentioned. Is this normal?)
Oil level is good, been regularly checking iy since a week, it seems constant. And it is dark(black) in color.
Mileage is ok-ok, gives me 35kmpl, fair enough because I drive like a hooligan.
Gear transition is smooth, but becomes very harsh and clunky with rise in temperature.
                            Vibes are ok-ok.

But I got a problem with inconsistency with speed and acceleration. At low gears, pick is smooth and good. But if I leave the clutch, the bike experiences a sharp deceleration(high engine brake). But at higher gears, I get a delayed throttle response. If I twist the throttle just a little, the bike gives almost no response. No power at all in the 3.5-4.5k RPM range at 3+ gears. Then I twist it a little more and the bike picks up speed. The bike behaves as if its low on fuel, kinda splutters when throttle is low. This has been happening recently.

Sometimes(rarely) when riding at high speeds the RPM just jumped up(behaved as if the clutch was held suddenly).

What do you think might be the problem? Carb? Clutch plate?
