re: Bajaj Discover 125 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Does the loud cling sound exist even during start of the engine(especially cold starts). Because I had the same problem with my Yam Gladi 6 yearsback. It had run only 18K kms then. I shouldn't scare you, but had to change my piston and bore. But that was due to my ignorance then. I never cared about the sound and kept riding like that for months. If its the case, take it to svc immidiately.Originally posted by abhasbajpai View PostI have recently purchased bajaj discover 125T, so far 1100 on ODO, first service done, so far good, as i am running in the bike, other than once gone to 80Km/H, rest is the sedate running in the range on 45-55 Km/H, the average is about 60-63 Km/L.
Now i facing a peculiar problem, when ever i switch-off the engine, there is a cling like loud sound, this happens no matter it i use a kick start or the starter motor to start the engine. the sound has increased in last week, rest there is no problem with the bike except for gears which are typical bajaj...
any suggestion what should i look for or should do for this sound while switching off the engine.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

please read my post, it's cling not tic tic, that's why I used a word piston slap not the sound of timing chain or tappetOriginally posted by sambit View PostDoes the loud cling sound exist even during start of the engine(especially cold starts). No it just happens when shutting down the engine, just like something is hitting some where

If you are referring to the single click sound when you switch off the engine, it occurs in all 125ST. Mine is 13 month old and covered 11k kms but I still get this sound every time I switch off the engine.Originally posted by abhasbajpai View PostAnswers in boldBetter late by 30 minutes than early by 30 years.

re: Bajaj Discover 125 Owners Reviews and Experiences
If you are referring to a "takk" kind of sound after you turn off the engine, it is normal for all Disco 125 STs. I don't know about other bikes. But I guess it is the case for almost all new bikes.. This is not clear to me. Does the sound come while starting engine? If that is so then it could be an issue. Otherwise rest assured there is absolutely no problem. Ya now if you say that "takk" sound is way too loud as in you can feel it's vibration firmly in the bike's body, go get it checked. But I tell you that sound is a normal thing.this happens no matter it i use a kick start or the starter motor to start the engine

Guys a couple months back, I reported a problem here about terrible vibrations from engine. My mechanic could not fix it even when twice I handed my bike to him for correction. I was so frustrated I was thinking of selling off the damn thing. Then I came to know about another trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanic. Gave the bike to him. He returned with a damaged air filter. Folds on the air filter were badly damaged and it was also clogged. He put a new air filter in for Rs.170. And now it's a miracle, vibrations are totally gone. Bike glides over the road till 60-65kph. Minor vibes creep till 75kph. Pickup has increased and gladly mileage is now @ 55-57kmpl and I ride pretty hard.
And for all those who had put in shell advanced oil and complaining about it. Guys I have poured in the same oil. Initially I thought it must be because of the oil but now as the main culprit is taken care of, I guess this oil is performing pretty well. So guys, check for other things, oil might be absolutely fine. For started get air filter, air fuel ratio checked.
I am so happy now

see bajaj uses plunger type of starter clutch ,in simple words to avoid starter motor running with crank shaft when engine is started ,one mechanism is used which is starter clutch & it disengage when engine is started
So when engine is turned off it engages & makes that khat sound
Advantages of this system is longer gear life & starter motor protection
& disadvantage ,you know that

My 50 cents drop bajajs oil and use motul or some reputated brand oil to gain smoothness :-)
My one my frnds used dtsi oil and had clutch slipping problems.. changed oil to castrol ( motul not available) and clutch slipping issue was gone...

re: Bajaj Discover 125 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Most of the experts of oils says that it's not the oil which make your clutch slip, infact it is the clutch which is already having this problem and fs or ss oils just brings this problem to your notice, if clutch plates are worn out they haven't got any friction between them and these fs or ss oils smoothens them more because of which clutch starts to slip.
