I just finished 3rd servicing about a month ago. I am getting 52 kmpl only. Is this something to worry about? However, engine has gotten smooth. Minor vibes between 50-55 but becomes very smooth in 60-70. Surprised by high speed performance. However there is still to worry about. Engine shows variable smoothness. i.e some day it is very smooth and silent. Other days it feels like there is no oil in the engine, very rough! Don't know what this is. What do you think?

One more thing. I wish to change rear tyre. I am feeling very uncomfortable when I manuver around corner these days. Tyres are so damn thin bike looses stability even on minor road cracks and potholes. Which tyre is best for this bike? I am thinking of upsizing to a 100/90-17. Which among MRF-Zapper C, CEAT Gripp and Micheline Siraca Street is better? I heard Zapper has hard rubber and doesn't provide adequate grip.
When did u last time got the engine oil changed?
And did u ever get the air filter cleaned till now?

I guess not more than 500. Ok, I will get the air filter cleaned.
These vibrations are stealing all the fun of riding sometimes. Pillion seat grab handle gets most vibrations when riding at and above 60 kph. So much vibes that hands go numb. Is anyone suffering with such issue? Or is this the very nature of this bike?

Well i dont own this bike, i own a Pulsar 135LS, which is very close to ur bike....N Btw In my bike the vibrations are there at 60-70 kmph but after that the vibrations are very less!
And also, pillion wil feel the vibrations much more than the rider!
If u want a more smooth ride, use a Semisynthetic engine oil instead of normal mineral oil!
make sure u rode the bike atleast 6k km!

Ok thanks for the advice. Can you tell me which oil specifically should I look out for?
Btw, I have ridden almost 5500 kms. Hope engine gets even more smooth with passing time.

I asked this question in Pulsar 135 thread 2 days ago..n they suggested me Motul 5100, its 15w50....and its a good semisynthetic oil as far as i know!
BTW check the grade of the oil ur bike requires, n tell me....i will suggest the oil according to that as correct oil grade is a must otherwise engine may get damaged!

Hi guys, Update: Got the Shell Ax7 poured in for my bike's 5th service recently. Must say this oil is really good. I can feel that the vibes have reduced and the revving feels much smoother now. Would recommend you all to try it once and feel the difference. Btw thanks to everyone who suggested this oil. Cheers! 😊

Looks like @abdriver2000 is correct. I queried the same question to the bajaj guys and got the same answer that the recommended oil grade is 20w50. Attached screenshot for reference. Don't know why they are displaying the wrong grade 20w40 oil in their website http://www.bajajauto.com/services_genuine_oils.asp

I'm little worried now, I had got 20w40 Shell Ax5 for bike's servicing recently. Is this going to affect the engine performance?.

Completed 1000kms on Motul 5100 15w50 today. While the engine was feeling smooth from day 1 after oil change, the smoothness has definitely improved in the past 2 weeks. I find myself riding at 70-80 quite often compared to initial days, since the vibrations are just not felt.

Today when I checked the oil window, it is still at the max. level and the color has darkened a bit, but still translucent. Normal oil would be completely black by now.

One thing I initially noticed was that the mileage had dropped from 57 to 52.5, but then I remembered that I had not cleaned the air filter since 3 months. Since my mechanic did not want to do it, I tried doing it myself. Extracted the filter element and tapped it on the floor couple of times to loosen the dust. Then blew some air over it using lung power and refitted the whole thing. Mileage back to normal

Completely satisfied with the oil. I am sure it will last 3000+ kms

Thanks for the review with the new oil. Isn't our bike is 20w50? And you pls show how to remove the air filter? And is there anyway to put a tachometer? Any digital signals running in our bike? I can tap it and make my own tachometer...

                            P.S. I own 125 ST

Yes, recommended grade is 20w50, but 15w50 exceeds that grade and is safe to use. 20w40 will possibly cause more clutch wear.

I haven't taken any pics during the cleaning, maybe next time.

Me too looking for a tacho. My caliber 115 has it and I am sure we can fit one on 125st as well.

I could find some chinese tachos on ebay india. Not many pictures available, so can't take a decision.
