Website is incorrect. I had mailed them long time back but sadly they havent changed it. It is most definitely 20w50 and I got it filled during last 3 services. In next service I am changing to Motul 5100 which is 15w50.
Ok. That website is incorrect.
Motul 5100 is good.
re: Bajaj Discover 125 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Super news guys.. The bajaj authorised sevice centres have updated their policy. Henceforth they will be servicing the bikes only if users agree to use bajaj dtsi oils. So the users can't bring oil from outside. And now I have no other option but to use bajaj oil to keep my bike under warranty. 😞
re: Bajaj Discover 125 Owners Reviews and Experiences
^^
This has always been the case with Service centers in Mumbai. Since my 3 free services were completed, I did not want to pay for the Bajaj oil. I have changed to Motul 5100 15w50 today. Odo reading is 8767 kms. I will post a long term review after I complete 1 or 2k kms on this oil. For now, the vibrations at 50 seem to have vanished. The bike feels silent than before. I changed the oil filter. Also, my mechanic removed a small tubular plastic mesh near the drain nut. This was filled with dirt like residue. I have never seen the service center clean this.
Only pending item is cleaning the air filter. Will take it to a petrol pump on a weekend to get compressed air blown over it.

Is that air filter not of a foam type?
There is a DIY of foam type air filter cleaning. It might be pulsar.
Refer manual for this.

Guys need a bit of help from you people, finished my first service few days back. They said the engine oil has to be changed and it's mandatory, I said on for that. Now I'm facing some vibrations even at 30 to 40 kms speed, especially the 3rd and 4th gear looks like the vehicle has some sort of friction, earlier before service I felt vibration only after 45. My vehicle has run around 400kms. Looks like they also tuned the pickup, the 2nd gear has much powerful pickup than before, any help or suggestion is appreciated

Since your bike is new and its initial run-in period for your bike, those vibrations are normal.
The engine oil change is must for 1st service. Its fine.
That difference you feel in pickup is because they have cleaned air filter.
It is quite possible that svc might have tuned carb, but generally they don't do it in 1st service.
As far as you don't have any starting issues its good to go. Wo bhi Bindaas..

Thanks for the info buddy, why there is vibration all of a sudden whereas it wasn't there before @ 35 kms speed, moreover I feel some sort of friction in 3rd nd 4th gear ride, is that normal or I should ask the svc guys?

I confirmed with service centre guys and the recommended oil grade is 20w40.

The vibrations may be due to the rear drum brake tightened slightly more than usual. This happened once with me too. Took the bike to the svc, they adjusted the brake and boom the vibes were gone.

Guys, I'm thinking to go with Shell Ax7 for my bike's next servicing. But there's a small issue, if I opt for any oil other than Bajaj's the warranty will be void. What do you suggest guys? Is it worth losing the warranty?

The oil Change is compulsory in 1st, 3rd, 5th,...services to stay within warranty.
Oil change can be done outside, SVC will never know about that.

Please ask them to confirm from the workshop manual. Also they should take responsibility for filling the wrong oil if they cannot confirm the same. We should also ask Bajaj simultaneously. If lot of us approach them with this question, we may get a response.
re: Bajaj Discover 125 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hey guys, I had posted this previously. But it seems no one noticed it. So I am going to put it again.
I just finished 3rd servicing about a month ago. I am getting 52 kmpl only. Is this something to worry about? However, engine has gotten smooth. Minor vibes between 50-55 but becomes very smooth in 60-70. Surprised by high speed performance. However there is still to worry about. Engine shows variable smoothness. i.e some day it is very smooth and silent. Other days it feels like there is no oil in the engine, very rough! Don't know what this is. What do you think?
One more thing. I wish to change rear tyre. I am feeling very uncomfortable when I manuver around corner these days. Tyres are so damn thin bike looses stability even on minor road cracks and potholes. Which tyre is best for this bike? I am thinking of upsizing to a 100/90-17. Which among MRF-Zapper C, CEAT Gripp and Micheline Siraca Street is better? I heard Zapper has hard rubber and doesn't provide adequate grip.
