Mileage seems to have improved a lot. Now I am getting 55-60 kmpl. So happy . Chain sound has reduced considerably to the point of almost vanishing. There is still that drag when I try accelerating beyond 50kph but after 60 it's just delight. Engine doesn't complain at all till 85kph. I hit max 90. It was great. Tremendous sound, but bike was very stable. So all in all most engine problems seem to have disappeared. However due to mileage rich AFR setting acceleration seems to have taken hit. But then again this is a Discover. I am also getting increasingly satisfied at braking performance. I can stop from 60 to 0 within 5 seconds without any skid sounds, and about 6-7 seconds just on disc brake.
However a new issue has reared its head. On the side panels which lead to tail light, there appear to be black patches. Its like color has been washed away. Its looking very bad and they are growing. I am gonna again head back to SVC. Will get the damn panels replaced under warranty. Read the booklet, pain chip-off, blisters are covered in warranty.

No haven't done any research yet. However I would just LOVE to see a P135's console on this thing. Just need a tacho.

Hello everyone, i have been owning a gs150r for the past year. but due to family probs ( the pillion seat is just too tall for ma parents ), i have been told to sell the bike and buy a new one with good fuel efficiency. although i love my bike, i cant argue with ma parents as they are finding it extremely difficult to cope up with the pillion seat issue. So let me come to my point

since there is no other solution to ma gs problem, i have planned to do as my parents wish. I am interested in buying either a disco 100t or 125st (more preferred-125st). but i need advice from you owners. Is this bike worth my money? i ride mostly at speeds around 40kmph. so can i expect a mileage of above 65? how about the quality?, i want it to last. i am aware that 125st's pillion seat is a bit more raised than 100t!, so the decision can be made only after test ride
      please help me out!

I had taken a short test ride of gs150r. Liked it, but did not book it since I do not like to depend on SC for everything. To answer your query, both bikes GS150 and 125ST seem to have the same higher pillion seat. Please test ride the bike with a pillion before deciding.
Better late by 30 minutes than early by 30 years.

Been using Discover 125 ST since last 6 months. This bike is good. It will be worth your money. If you ride it around 40-50kph it will surely give you mileage of about 60kmpl. Some people around here have claimed mileage exceeding 65kmpl. But I don't know if that is true when company itself is claiming it to be 67kmpl ! I am getting 55kmpl, I ride above 50kph and a bit harshly. Yet 3rd service is remaining. So it might reach 60kmpl.

Power delivery is decent albeit too good for a 125cc bike. Torque is low at low rpm but pulls strongly at high rpm. 4 valve setup works pretty nicely at speeds above 60kph as bike pulls on all the way to 80kph without a problem.

Gears are a bit of a problem for me. All gears are very short. So you will have to change them quickly when bringing vehicle up to speed. 1st gear doesn't last more than 10kph. 4th gear ends at 40kph, i.e if you are riding economically. Because after that speed engine shows drag which in-turn shows that engine is entering power band. Mostly you will ride in 5th gear all the day. 5th gear is very tall. You can potter around at 25kph without chain snatch and drag away all the way to top speed. So in traffic you might never need to change gears.

Braking is exceptional, you can safely engage front disc-brake without a fear of stoppie, as it is a bit weak but strong enough to bring down the speed from 60-0 within 6 seconds without skidding. That's my record. Tyres are a let down. Rear tyre is very thin, gives appearance of a damn bicycle. Plus they are of some cheap chinese brand Kenda no one has ever heard of. So you must be very careful while cornering and exceptionally careful in monsoons. I am gonna put on a fatter tyre pretty soon.

The best of part of bike is mono-shock and it's adjustable. It helps a lot while cornering and high-speed stability. I have adjusted it to softer setup, and believe me, it helps a lot. I barely feel bumps on the road and pillion's comfort increases manifold. at speeds exceeding 70kph it soaks up bumps nicely and since monoshock is near center of gravity of bike, maneuvering even at that speed is very confident.

About seat, yes pillion seat is quite tall and even my parents have difficulty getting on the bike. However seat is wide enough for a comfortable seating position. But at the same time I feel it is quite hard. I once took out for bike ride of 200km roundtrip. Me and my friend took turn riding. I couldn't sit pillion comfortably more than 25km at one go. Afterwards your bum starts to pain. But that is not a big problem.

Build quality of all the parts is decent, However I feel pain quality could have been better. 6 months down the line and paint seems to have started loosing it;s shine. But that is my experience and I could be unlucky. Instrument cluster is what I am disappointed at. It lacks a tachometer, which could have been very helpful to optimize economy/power balance for such a rev-happy engine. Speedo dial is very dimly lit, I am gonna fit a brighter bulb in it.

Overall experience is very pleasant. I would recommend it to you. However, since you are downgrading from a powerful bike like GS 150r, be ready to get disappointed at acceleration and overall power. But since you mentioned you never ride above 40kph, that won't be a problem for you. I hope this brief review helps you decide.

Exactly my words.. I have been using this bike for past 1year and done some 8000 kms.. so far only one negative in this bike is the tyres just upgrade to good branded tyres. Mileage so far I have not calculated. Power is awesome and the power delivery is good. But getting that feeling you have to drive always in the power band which are in higher revs...

If you intend to buy the bike. Please upgrade the tyres to a good brand at the earliest..

ok, will do. but wont it void the warranty..? and by the way, does the discover have warranty? if so, for how many years?
if i ask the svc to replace the rear tyre with a 100/90 ceat tyre before selling the bike to me, wont it void the warrany.?

I asked once to svc about tyre upgrade.. he told that there won't be any problem with warranties... But again it was a small svc.. which handles only 5 to 10 bikes per day.. about the tyre size its always best to adhere to stock sizes as for as I know... Just ask about it to the local dealer...

chances are that i will either go for 100t or 125t....since the seating of st seems a bit high. will decide after test ride only, coz i think 125 st is more sportier than 125st and 100t...

Putting new tyres will not void warranty, but upsizing it will.

BTW, my 125ST is now 4800kms and tyres seem to have got better in the last 3000kms. I know it sounds odd and I too was planning to change them but they seem to be doing quite ok now. In fact, I managed the mumbai monsoon with them and waded through water on several occasions.

Just to clarify, Kenda is not Chinese, it is Vietnamese

Has anyone here taken this bike out for a long ride? Say more than a 100 kms on a highway? How does bike behave when ridden constantly above 70kph. What becomes of fuel efficiency. How was riding comfort? Is this bike even worthy of a road trip? Or am I asking too much from a commuter bike? :P

I once took out my bike for about a 70km ride on highway. But bike was only ~1800km old. It really begged when I would touch it to 70kph. So I couldn't enjoy the ride that much. Now that it's past 2 servicings and 4000km, I hope highway performance will be way better.

                                please share your exeriences.
