re: Bajaj Discover 125 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Folks,
I have bought Discover 125 ST 45 days back and enjoying the ride since then. But as most of you are aware, the biggest downfall of this bike is its cheap kenda tyres! The bike has skid twice, that too on very light gravel filled road.
Today, I got the rear tyre replaced with MRF Moto D (costed Rs 1700 in Pune) and believe me it feels much better now! I am not sure if its just psychological or the tyres are really that good. The person who replaced the tyres started laughing after looking at the kenda tyre.
I suggest all fellow Discover riders to change their tyres before the onset of monsoon. Better to spend a couple of thousands on tyres than risking your life!
My suggestion for tyres after all the research I did:
REAR (3.00 x 17):
If you ride on highway/good roads: MRF Nylogrip Plus
If you need on/off road tyre: MRF Moto D OR Michelin Sirac Street
FRONT (2.75 x 17):
MRF Zapper FS
Ride Safe!

What tyre size and tyre make you suggest for rear...? Me thinking of 100/90-17 mrf ones.... And btw no mods are needed right? The tyres are direct fit to the stock rims and no modifications need for the wheel arches???

Whats the stock rear size....3.00-17 ??Originally posted by vicedens2002 View PostWhat tyre size and tyre make you suggest for rear...? Me thinking of 100/90-17 mrf ones.... I would better suggest 100/80-17......they would fit better due to lower profile....and tyre will have enough clearance..dont go too wider or it will be a pain going through potholes or at time of punctures..and see that the tyre rests on ground and does not form a aggressive 'V' like shape.....or you will end up having little contact patch in corners and near to no contact patch on straighlines.Last edited by MidnightEvil Parth; 04-29-2013, 11:04 AM.

re: Bajaj Discover 125 Owners Reviews and Experiences
If you change the front tyre from stock size to 80/90 x 17, what is the change observed in the odo?
I am planning to change before monsoons but keep stock size in front.
I am sure people know this already, but wanted to re-iterate the fact that changing your tyres to anything but stock size voids your waranty. Have it confirmed from the dealer.Better late by 30 minutes than early by 30 years.

Discover 125 ST extreme mileage drop issue
Hello all,
I bought a discover 125 st about a month and a half ago. Have ridden it for 800 km and got the first servicing done.
Before servicing my mileage was about 45 kmpl. After first servicing they handed over a totally messed up bike to me. Below are the problems I got after first servicing:
1. loud sound coming from chain sprocket area.
2. bike jumps and shut down when put in 1st gear after a gap of 10-12 hours or more.
3. Most importantly, extreme mleage drop. I am getting a horrendous mileage of 30-35 kmpl.
My bike had just touched reserve when I gave it to servicing. Afterwards I went only 90 km. considering reserve of 3L this comes to only 30 kmpl!!!
Then I refilled the tank and did not consider previous calculation as reserve to reserve is the best method. So I fueled up 7L of petrol (Rs.500). When I hit reserve I had gone only 125 km.
Extremely frustrated, I went to bajaj servicing immediately aur mechanic ko achha dose diya. What he did is insert some wire inside engine cylinder and measure something on some machine and got bike out in 5 min. I asked what he did, he spoke of some setting, mileage setting. I am surprised as to how mileage can be adjusted just by doing some setting!!
Now again bike had touched reserve and have ridden only 45 km since. i.e I am at 170 km and fuel meter is just one notch above empty. This means that there is no improvement in mileage whatsoever.
I am extremely frustrated and angry over this issue. I just simply can't accept a commuter bike of 125cc giving mileage below 50 kmpl. In this case I am totally disappointed. Has anyone come across such issue and others mentioned above in the list? Can anyone suggest me what to do? Because none other problems were solved by those idiots. About 2nd and 3rd problem he said this happens in every bike. Chain sound he showed me in many other bikes and it was there. However only thing is that, this loud sound started coming after servicing. I dont think those ch***** ppl can do anything. Please help.....

Hi i have been using using the 125ST since July 2012 and have covered about 15xxxx till date. Regarding the points you have posted here is what i think is wrong
Point 1: Make sure the chain has been tightened properly and not over-tightened and well lubricated. Can you specify the type of sound. Also suggest you to keep a chain spray at home, so that you can apply after 500-600 kms of riding.
Point 2: Even i had the same problem. Ask your A.S.S guys to adjust the clutch properly. This should take care of the problem. I suppose you also feel a judder when releasing clutch in bumper to fender traffic. Warm up the engine nicely before riding after a long gap.
Point 3: Can you explain "insert some wire inside engine cylinder and measure something on some machine and got bike out in 5 min". I suppose the mechanic would have adjusted the idle rpm level.Bikes don't leak oil, they mark their territory
