      • Guys this days am facing 1 problem. As soon as i come to stop at a complex or a check gate, the bike stops even though i make to come down from 4th gear to 1st in required time. It doesnt start then and takes few mins. to start again, but the time covered is felt like i am riding a used used bike with dying battery. It happened to me 3-4 times within a month.

Any suggestion?? What could be the problem?

        Thanks in advance.

        • That's strange.. I haven't faced any problems like that till now.. I suggest you to get your bike checked at the servicing center.. It might be some battery problem.

Let me add my plans here:

            1. Change tyres to Michelin. Same size, but better tyres.
            Lets see.
            You can try these tyres:

            MRF - TYRES - PRODUCTS

Stock R15 V1 MRF tyres are almost the same size as Discover 125ST stock tyres (same front tyre size also used by Honda Dazzler. R15v1 Rear tyre is thinner than Dazzler)
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

            • Thanks antz.bin. I'm holding off changing the tyres for now because there is a slight problem with front wheel. It is not rotating freely. It has not jammed, yet there is some constriction which is not allowing it to rotate freely. I had a word with dealer guys and they said that they will look into it. So I do not want to void the warranty by changing tyres (I know this is weird, but this is what they said).
I've stopped from any changes to the bike which will give them a chance to shy away from the issue.

              Thanks.

              -----------

I filled petrol worth 300 last night. The fuel indicator is stuck at full mark. That is weird, because the bike was on reserve. Which means, only about 4lts of petrol went into the tank. The fuel indicator goes down very gradually even after stopping the engine. I'm not hung up on the fuel indicator as my previous bike didn't have any indicator. However, I would like it to work as it should.

I don't think it as a question for usable / non usable reserve!!

It's a range where you have last few liters as per your tank/bike requirement and you can ride some kms which is sufficient to get to any petrol pump around unless you are into some seriously outskirt area. It's kind of reminder for people who carelessly depend on reserve indicators/last bar flashing etc... Infact one should refill it as soon as it's close to last bar/reserve indicator etc..

One should know how much liters does reserve contains in his bike and how many kms can you ride on those liters. And you must know if petrol is nil then what would you do ??

                • My bike has done 200kms till now. So after first service (@500kms or 1month) can I start revving the bike and use it as normal?
I'm also not taking a pillion as of now. When can I start taking a pillion?

Any help in this regard is much appreciated. Thanks.

There is no issue in taking a pillion even from km #1. The only requirement is that you don't rev the bike too much. Ride in uncleji mode till at least 1st service.

For more run-in limitations, refer owner's manual.

                    • @antz.bin - Thanks for a quick response. In that engine break-in thread (other website) I read that we should not take a pillion while the engine is setting in, as it puts more stress on the engine.

I will check the manual for any limitations. But it's too boring to ride like uncle-ji.

                      -----
I read the user manual. It does not talk about pillion, but I will not take a pillion unless at least first service. It says that until 1000 kms, ride below 45kmph and for the next 1000 kms, ride below 55kmph.
That may take huge number of days for me as my running is very low.

PS: It's ok to take the bike until 60 kmph under 1000 kms, right? Or a strictly no no?

Does this happen to when you are running full tank/near full tank? Even i had this problem with my disco 125st, reported to A.S.S but no help. Later came to conclusion that may be there is vapour formation in the tank. I keep the lid open for some time, give it a nice jerk and it starts again as if nothing happened!!!

P.S This is my personal opinion, and that it worked for me in all the 10XXX KMS that i have covered with disco 125st.

                          • Hey guys. A friend has a 3 week old 125ST. It seems to have a problem with idling. Whenever the engine is started, it stays at the desired RPM for about 5-10 seconds and goes to very high RPM(3-5K RPM going by the sound). What's the reason for this? AFR tuning problem?

Does this happen only during cold start? How many seconds does it stay at this higher RPM? Does it idle correctly when the engine is properly warmed up??

                              • Thanks. The idle rpm goes up after 5 to 10s irrespective of the engine temperature. Once it rises, it stays there all the time. He said that he's getting a mileage of 35 kmpl. Also, he gets petrol smell near his bike even though there's no petrol leakage.

EDIT: The reason was that the choke had got applied during transportation. That was flooding the engine...
