Got this beast Discover 125 ST in black decal blue on Nov 3rd and this is my first ever bike. I was really in a dilemma on which bike to choose but am happy that I selected it over Ignitor, Gladiator and Shine.
Question : The petrol status indicator meter is not working. It has not moved a bit since I have taken the bike. Anyone experiencing this problem ? What should be the minimum amount of petrol in the tank for the meter to fire up from empty indicator?
Also the bike rattles a little when it is taken over 50 km/hr. And I was strictly told not to go over that limit till the first servicing. Can anyone tell me why did they say so?.
Sorry, I don't know much about bikes, I'm new to the biking world. Your help will be greatly appreciated

Read more about engine breakin and why it is done and what happens when it is not done. Though it is a controversial topic.. I prefer following whats written in the manual. Read your manual and see whats mentioned to be done in the first 1000 km or first service.Originally posted by md_minhaj View PostGot this beast Discover 125 ST in black decal blue on Nov 3rd and this is my first ever bike. I guess by the above you meant 50kmph in top gear. Check if you get the same rattle when crossing ~40 kmph in 4th and ~30 kmph in 3rd.Originally posted by md_minhaj View PostAlso the bike rattles a little when it is taken over 50 km/hr. If you do find the same rattle in lower gears at lower speeds, its most probably due to a resonance vibration. I get a similar resonance vibration on my P220 at exactly 4k RPM (64 in top gear, 48 in 4th etc.). But this rattle goes away as soon as I move from 64 to say 66 kmph so its not much of a bother
.
And about the fuel, try filling it upto at least 1/2 tank and then check if the fuel gauge moves.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Fuel guage in my 125ST will move only after the tank is half empty (5-6 ltrs petrol left), till then it will be in maximum position.Originally posted by md_minhaj View PostGot this beast Discover 125 ST in black decal blue on Nov 3rd and this is my first ever bike. Congrats bro . Thats a wise choice in choosing this machine.. Regarding the fuel meter.. Yeah the fuel meter doesnt work most of the time. Its the default problem in all 125ST's.. Try to fix it from the service center.. i use to fill till brim of the tank .. And it shows me FULL till 3/4th of my journey. It doesnt move a bit till that .. And drastically goes down suddenly.. So have a approximate calculation . take the average mileage as 55(It showed be good in city condition) and make your trip..Originally posted by md_minhaj View PostQuestion : The petrol status indicator meter is not working. Regarding the rattles above 50km/hr.. Am not too sure because till first 500 km of my journey i didnt cross 45 km/hr. Maybe its the time of gear shift that you need to look at it .. In the manual it shows how to ride for the first few hundred kilometers.. Follow that .. if am not wrong . It says 25-30 in 3rd gear , 30-35(or till 40) 4th gear , 43-45 5th gear ..Try to follow this gear shift patterns..

Hello,
Have a few questions regarding the 125ST.
1. How is the pick-up of this bike? I mean can you give me names of some common bike so that I can relate?
2. Is there an issue with the gearbox? If so, has it been sorted?
3. At say regular speeds of 60kmph, how stable is this bike?
4. How is handling and braking in dense stop-and go traffic?<<<< If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything! >>>>

P135LS is the closest to relate.. almost similar heart & stuff... Gear box ain't to be worried about, & nothing that can't be sorted either...Originally posted by squid View PostHello,

With the mono-suspension, I believe it's more stable than the LS...
Everything else is pretty similar to the LS, & owning the LS, I can say it won't disappoint u

Congrats! bro for choosing D125ST.
Answer to your ques. is simply run to the nearest Bajaj service centre and tell them to fix it, as i think some nuts are to be tightened. It doesnt matter much how much petrol you fill up, but before 1st service try filling full tank. Please dont go over 50km/h as it makes more on pressure engine which is not totally opened.
Sorry, brother but not all D125ST have the same problem. Mine is running perfectly since the first day.Originally posted by rafirashi View PostYeah the fuel meter doesnt work most of the time. Its the default problem in all 125ST's..

Thanks for the help everyone!.. Sorry for the late update, couldn't update as I was busy with work.
The fuel indicator is working, figured out that the fuel in the tank should be at least 3 litres for the meter to fire up. And about the rattling, the bike still vibrates whenever I take it over 50 kmph.
Completed 500 km recently. The first service is due in a few days. Will update about this problem after the first service.
Few more Questions about 125 ST:
1. What's the maximum stable speed that you have crossed on this bike ?
2. Are you facing any problem in shifting gears at 3rd and 4th gear, like you try to shift the gear but it doesn't get locked in ?
3. Have you ever got any non linear acceleration problem when the bike is in lower gears ?
4. Are you facing any vibration issues, if so then at what speeds ?
One more thing, is anyone here available on twitter?. If yes please do update your ids so that we can connect instantly. (btw mine's @md_minhaj)
Thanks

1. It easily reaches till 100. But have gone till 105 kmph a couple of times.
2. I dont face any prblem at gears 3rd and 4th. My problems were at 4th and 5th. I did find a way to correctly shift it. It seems the 4th <-> 5th gears are long throw than the 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears. Just make sure that u swing more for 5th & 4th.
3. This happens very rare to me.
4. Vibrations are present at higher RPMs, I suspect its the windshield. Try to drive above 50kmph while holding the windshield.
125ST is very good. Actually fun to ride than my Ex-pulsar 150 UG3. :P
