Discussed about the CBZ one with yasher bro yesterday itslelf, but the thing is that the pitch aint right. So will replacing the front sprocket too fix the pitch issue??? Sorry I might be confused about the pitch thingi alltogether.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post
The ZMA has an above decent initial for people weighing 60-70kg solo. But I weight 100+ so ts going to be sluggish and theres no need to say more about what will happen when a pillion hops on.Originally posted by cmahajan View Post

36t will kill the zma, bro. User may need to launch at (atleast) 3k rpm under normal condition for normal acceleration.. So the clutch wear will increase.
You won't be able to exceed 8k rpm or so in 5th or may be 4th gear.
Every gear change (down or up) will make drastic rpm change..
For ex: upshift at 4k rpm may drop rpm below 3k and on top end upshifts may drop the rpm by 2k
this may damage your crank in long term because of jolts in sudden drastic rpm changes.
And you'll have to Change chain set 'cause of pitch difference.

Thanks bro, never thought of that.
So I guess over gearings the only thing left for me to do. Any suggestions???Motorcycling Experience:

i mean dont over do things.. Changes of 1 or 2 teeth on rear is ok in most indian bikes. And 1 teeth at front is the max limit which is equal to approx. 3 teeth change of rearOriginally posted by ashwinprakas View PostThanks bro, never thought of that.

@ Aneesh@4Ghz and ashwin: Chain pitch is the difference between a chain's two adjoining links. Similarly, Sprockets also have a pitch which is the distance between their two adjoining teeth.
Have a look here: http://www.ekchain.com/jis.htm
The first digit is the pitch/ distance between 2 links, in terms of x/8 inch. So, a .428 chain has a 4/8 or 1/2 inch pitch.
The next 2 numbers (like "28") denote the sprocket width/ fatness which the chain will comply with too, in terms of distance between inner plates.

Remember, your entire setup (both sprockets and chain) HAVE TO be on the same chain pitch. You can't fit a .520 pitch sprocket(s) on a .428 chain, or vice versa.
I hope I'm clear enough?
--
@ Ashwinprakas: For your specific case, let me tell you that your Karizma is on .520 pitch. P220 and P200's rear sprockets are direct fit without any other change, as they're .520 too but they overgear.
If you want a .428 rear sprocket, its no problem, except that your chain and front sprocket ALSO have to be on .428. That's why after suggesting 46T of CBZ, I also told you to try a 14T from .428 pitch. ok?
The Karizma gearing (stock condition), is one of the funniest in the Indian market.
The first 3 gears are under geared, very closely spaced... The next 2 gears are far placed/ overgeared.
Result? The karizma has a decent 0-60 and decent top speed too, but 3rd and 4th gear are a bit far apart.
In other words, if you under gear your bike, your first gear will be too much undergeared, revvy and pushy. And if you overgear, your 5th gear would be a cruising gear, too high for the city.
So, preferably leave gearing as it is. If you want more acceleration/ torque from your engine, a great choice would be Joel's aftermarket exhausts or 230cc Big Bore Kit. If you still overgear, get P200's 38 teeth for a change.Last edited by Samarth 619; 08-13-2011, 07:07 PM.---

Guys a little help here would be very usefull
i own a pulssar 220Dtsi the new version 2011,well, the thing is that i have increased the height of my shock absorbers by getting it fitted with 2inch bits and the height has increased but i feel my acceleration and top end are been compromised.
Now,
i need to know if there are any performace mods i can do for my bike to make it have a great initial pick up and top end .
Change of Sprocket teeth's front and rear ?
and k and N filter ?
i am planning to take it for a long drive to chennai from hyderabad.
A QUICK REPLY WOULD BE REALLY USEFUL GUYS.

Oh!!! I get it bro, was confused about the pitch.. Anyways since thats sorted out I've got one last query left... Willl there be any major damages if I do the 46T modd?? Since the rate of engine braking will be more, since the gears are uber shorter.

i dont think it will damage any thing.. But remember you won't be able to hit the speeds, what you can now.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View Post46T modd??
Btw, what's stock sprocket sizes?
(sorry if i missed it in earlier posts)
.
@sid, i dont think sprocketing can help you in any way. Since you want to increase initial and top both.
And better look at other performance modds.. Like FFE, bigger bore, etc.
And stay away from K&N.Last edited by Honda_CBF; 08-14-2011, 10:02 AM.

And for modds contact the best, Joel.
My bike's current setup is 15/43. And stock was 14/43.

that's why you are suggested to change the whole chain set..Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostCant find any compatible 43T's with .520 pitch.
Btw, you were saying about custom sprockets??
.
And there's an increase of 3~4kmph on 5th gear.

Chain Sprocket Discover 125
Hi,
Can someone help me in knowing if any of the Pulsar Chain Sprocket front and back of of any other bike will fit in my Discover 125. Am basically not looking at speed. I love riding for hours on end non stop, so if my bike goes max at 80 kmps its fine but the chain sprocket needs to handle high tension rides and lots of ghat climbs. Would also help if you can give me the model nos of the chain & sprocket.
Thanks
