In case i can go for it, do i need to remove the full cover my bike has. Also i dont have any idea about the pitch of r15 chain. Please help. Thanks, Raj
if you are changing the whole chain set (which is recommended) then you dont need to worry about pitch size etc. Going for 42t rear you'll lose on top by some 2kmph.
No need to remove chain cover even with o ring chain.
You can also go for unicorn dazzler'r chain set.

R15's rear sprocket has 6 holes, are you sure your GS has 6 too? And if you're not sure about the compatibility, don't purchase the kit as yet.

Final reduction ratio: 2.929 (41/14). Drive chain r428, 124 links.
So, it means 41 teeth at the back, 14 at the front, Chain pitch .428 and 124 links... Cool!

If you have 4 holes on the rear sprocket, try Pulsar 180 UG3's sprocket kit (43/15 = 2.867). Slight overgearing on your current setup.

But Tell me, how many holes on rear sprocket first?

        • @Samarth 619: I have a question for you.

What will be the change if:
A bike having stock sprocket config 14/42 is changed to 15/47?

I think you already know the bike I'm talking about.

            14/42 (3.0) is changed to 15/47 (3.13)

So what will be the difference in performance?
My guess is better low end accelaration, reduced top end.
Am I right? I have no idea about sprocketing.

actually i dont know how many holes are there in the sprockets. What I intend to do is remove the sprockets and send the mechanic for selecting compatible sets (need to go a city as spares are not available on my town). I can sacrifice on the top end but dont want to sacrifice the bike's acceleration at all. Could you give me some suggestions? I dont know which bikes have (14/42 or 43) setup. Also its okay to keep the full chain cover on in case i go for o-ring chain. There will be on issues right? Thanks, Raj.

hi, thanks for your suggestion. So dazzler has (14/42) setup right? I just hope its compatible with my bike. So other than holes on the sprockets, what other things we need to consider to recognize that a particular sprocket set is compatible with my bike. I mean maybe size of the sprockets. Are they all same size? And will not change of pitch have its effect on fuel economy or maybe will it touch the chain cover? Sorry too many stupid questions. Raj

                  • @ basumataryraj,
I think GS has 4 holes on the rear sprocket but I'm not sure.
Second, there will be no problem in keeping chain cover with the 'o' ring chain in fact chain life will increase with the normal maintenance.
Third, things to consider for sprocket compatibility:
                    -number of holes on sprocket
                    -pitch size
but if you are changing the whole chain set then ONLY thing to consider is number of holes on sprockets for attachment.
fourth, size of the sprocket depends on the number of teeth it has.. More the number of teeth biker the sprocket & vice versa.
P.S. Use multi quote option, dont multi post quoting different members.

                        • I intend on using a '86 Honda CR125 engine in a custom bike India and i need sprocketing advice.

The stock setup is 520 chain 13T/52T and the rear tire is 18'' but had nice huge studs on them since its a cross bike.

Now to harness a similar power and speed characteristics using parts and resources in India, what would my ideal sprocketing be? and I intend to buy a new OE front 13T due to compatibility issues on the drive shaft. And i'd like to use a 17'' rear rim and tire like one on a FZ16, so what would be the equivalent rear sprocket size i should use? and is that size available in india?
rear sprocket-to-hub fitting is not a problem as i can get some machining done.

And i dont mind cutting down on the acceleration and getting more top end as it is a wheelie loving bike
Here are some pics of the existing setup (yeah, they are friggin worn out!!)

                            • Yes the Zma has a .520 chain like the P200 and P220 and P180 has the .428 chain.

Can someone please tell me what is the largest size .520 pitch (zma,p220, cbr250 etc) rear sprocket available in India? is there anything in the range of 46T or 48T?
I need to know soon so that i dont need to buy an expensive one here.

                                Dear All,

I'm planning to change the sprocket of my bike - P 150 UG3 running in stock sprocket.

Kindly suggest the best sprocket for increasing the top end, other than Bajaj (have heard some negative feedback from friends).

Thanks in Advance to all of you.
