        • Presently i am using 17 T front sprocket custom made in bajaj wind 125 & able to
get 105 KM top speed in fifth gear at 7000 RPM & also able to get 105 KM top speed
in fourth gear at 8500 RPM.
But it very very difficult to make such sprocket & also it looses temper in making process so it can last only up to 25000 KM & costs rs 400 including material & labor charge,
That's why i am interested to know if there is any readily available sprocket of
15,16,or 17 tooth for direct fitment in place of 14T of wind.

          Thanks Honda_Cbf for reply.

          • ^^17t front?? I'm sure there's nothing left like acceleration..
            Coming back to your query
15t's are available pulsar's and unicorn's use them. (i'm using one too)
16t's are also available but hard to find.
Why not you try out 15t front & 43t rear..
And go for the new chain set.

wind's output shaft is smaller in diameter than pulsers so 15T sprocket
of pulser can not directly fit with wind.

                ok. Ever thought of unicorn's??
Best way to get it is getting to the local spare parts dealer (who keeps spares of all bikes) & ask him.
Usually they all have a booklet kinda thing stating all market offerings with there sizes & fitting parameters.

1.kindly suggest me a front sprocket with 14T which can be a direct fit on my Apache 150..
                  2. Has anyone tried a taller gearing on your Apaches. If so how was the results??.
As far as I know, Classic Fiero had 13 teeth and Fiero F2 had 14 teeth.

See, I don't have Apache 150's Service Manual. So, I don't know its front sprocket's spleen size. But probably the Apache 150 and RTR 160 have the same spleen size for the front sprocket, because both use Rolon "S02 119/FB" Front Sprocket.

So, try the 14 teeth from YZF R15. It should fit directly. Plus, for further overgearing, 15 teeth from later Pulsar 180's should do too.

See, front sprockets mostly have spleens in sizes of 20/16/4 or 17/14/4 or 17/13/4.
This Pulsar sprocket which you're rejecting due to shaft size, is the size 20/16/4. So, that's definitely not it.
                  From 17/14/4 and 17/13/4, Centra/ TVS Star later models/ CT100 DLX/ Discover 112cc (after March 06) have a 14T, but you don't need a 14T.

So Priyanka, why don't you change the rear sprocket to a smaller one for overgearing?

                  ---
Guys, I will update the first page with info about Front Sprocket Spleens, in 2-3 days. I think its needed now.

                  • Hey guys,

Has anyone tried a 17T front sprocket for Pulsar? Is there enough clearance?
I live in Singapore and ride a Pulsar UG2 with rear sprocket 6 mounting holes.

Here we have awesome highways and most of time need to ride at 90-120Km/hr. The pulsar stock gearing runs at very high RPM(~8K) at 100 km/hr.

As the 6 mounting hole is not common, I chose 43 Rear and 16 front(RXZ sprocket), instead of stock 15 front. But this overgearing got somewhat negated a bit because I changed my rear tyre from the stock 100/90-R17 to 100/80-R17 as we dont have 100/90-R17 here.

I am still not satisfied with the cruisability of this bike. Its revs up very smoothly until 80km/hr at 6K RPM, but after that it takes some effort to get to 7.5KRPM and only 90 km/hr. I hate to ride this bike at 8K RPM and beyond. Now since I cant get the LML freedom 40T rear sprocket(unless I wait till my next vacation to India, even then I am not sure how easy it is to get it as LML has been discontinued). I am considering of trying a 17T front or else I have no choice but get a 120/80 rear tyre and will have to cut the chain guard a bit. But my tyres are really new and dont want to spend 100$ on this.

                    Any suggestions???

BTW, the FZ16 and R15 is also sold in Singapore and they have 40T rear with 6 mounting hole, I believe. Can someone confirm if the FZ16 and Pulsar UG2's 6 mounting holes match?

                    • Tik Tik Tik anybody there??? I guess I will just open the front sprocket cover myself and see if there is enough clearance and see if I can get a matching sprocket and will update you guys!

                      Cheers!

                      • Hey guys,

As promised I am updating you.

17T sprocket is possible in the front for pulsar
The sprocket is from Yamaha TZM150 a 2 stroke sports bike that was sold here in Singapore, but now obsolete. For Indians not sure, which bike has 17T in the front that can fit P180 UG1-UG3

Below is the pic of the 16T RXZ sprocket that I was using earlier, I believe the RXZ/RX135/RX100 that was sold in India have this sprocket. This is a direct fit for Pulsar 180 UG1-UG3.

                        • Some more info for you guys, if you dont know this already.
For Pulsar 200,220 and 180 UG4 the max size for front sprocket is 15T. There is no more space left.
For Pulsar 180 UG1-UG3 you can go upto 18T in the front(Although finding 18T in India will be challenge, but that is a different issue).

                          Any guesses why????

P200,220 and P180 UG4 have chain pitch of 520 whereas P180 UG1-UG3 has chain pitch of 428. A 15T 528 sprocket has the same diameter as an 18T 428 sprocket

So those who want to further overgear your P220 can consider the 428 chain conversion.

                          • Thanks Revhappy. About P220 owners, they're hunting for a decent option for a direct upgrade...
They have a 14/36 option. And we don't have a 15T front or below 36T rear in .520 pitch in India.

So if you have any ideas, do share them regarding this.

Hmm... No idea. I dont think there is an option in India at the moment for the 520 chain, as I guess only Karizma is the other bike with 520 chain and their front sprocket is even smaller 13T.

In Indonesia there is a company called Sinnob that makes sprockets for Pulsar and other bikes. Singaporeans import from there only. They have 15T/39T size for Pulsar 200. Not sure if they sell the front sprocket only. But you can try contacting them and see if they will ship it in. They look awesome.

                              • my unicorn is currently running on stock sprockets(15/43) and would require a chain and sprocket change within 2k kms.
i'm looking for options, is there any advantage if i use the dazzler's open chain? will it fit in unicorn?
