See, a stock P220 should do 150 over a very long stretch. Still, currently the P220 has no over-gearing possibilities due to its .520 chain pitch. You can undergear it though by using Karizma or P200 sprocket, which will increase its acceleration, with a stressed top end.Originally posted by thecivic View PostHeyy guys... Ive got my 220f and it has done 11k kms till date. Its stock in condition and does a top speed of 142kmph. I would like to increase increase its top speed more... We've got guys doing 150 here on their 220's (i dont know what they have to their bikes)....even though i could screw them in the city Its really tough for me to stand with them on highways... Can you guys tell me what mods that i should do with my 220's spockets to increase my top speed...???
Or you can try using a front 16 teeth Yamaha RX sprocket, with other combinations of the .428 chain and rear sprockets. Refer to my first post in this thread to calculate gearing.
As a sidenote: I would like to add that, please don't drag race on public roads, in cities or highways. Its not safe and as you must have noticed from some mature members' posts above, its not supported by Xbhp either.
Let me clarify: You can speed when you see the safe opportunity on open highways or so, but definitely NOT when competing with another rider, when speeding becomes a priority due to pride. So, please don't race.---

And now that you realize this, I would like to tell you 2 things.Originally posted by thecivic@Samarth 619:
Thanks for ur advice bro... I accept that its due to my imaturity... I'll try not to race in public roads... N sorry if i disrespected anyone...
1. A Post April 2010 Stock P220-F does 153kmph on speedo given ideal conditions and a long enough stretch. So for crossing 150, no mods are required.
2. There is a speedometer error of +7.3% on all Stock P220s since 2008. So, the 153 kmph on speedo is equivalent to just 142.6 kmph on GPS (i.e. actual). So if you wish to do true 150kmph, sprocketing cannot help you achieve it.
Stick around a bit more and I will tell you many many more things about the P220

Holy Cows.. Why such a deviation from the original topic??
anyways.. Top Speed aint of any good in City nor on highways.. i did sprocketing only for smooth rides on highways which the ZMR already has..
One Personal advice to those who go street racing at peak hours..
don't go for race.. its not only you who is gonna put urself in risk.. but you are risking the innocent people on the streets at risk.. don't you guys read the newspaper.. many speeding vehicles kill the innocent people who are walking on the roads.. if you wanna race.. go to the race track with proper kits.. but pls for God's sake.. don't race in streets..
Back to the Topic.. My ZMR is giving a better mileage in city as well.. increased by 4-6kmpl..
and its much smoother now..

Hey Buddy.. yup.. I am using the 36T of the P220 Dtsi on my ZMR.. i was able to achieve 127kmph @ 7100RPM on the highways ( Free Road ).. i forgot to check the air pressure before the tripOriginally posted by Ramborider View Postrrenev1987 do you using p220 rear sproket??on zmr
cos of which i couldn't reach the top speed.. i still had 1400RPM left for red line.. might have touched 136 true speed if my air pressure was perfect.. and of course the cross winds.. was pushing my bike left and right and back too

Hi
I own the CBZ * 2004 model. I have been reading a few pages on this thread and all that i have understood till now is this more teeths in front or less at the rear (good speed at lower engine revs but with decreased pickup) and vice versa. Hope i have understood the idea correctly.
I have also understood that with sprocket mods we cannot have the best of both worlds i.e. speed as well as pickup.
i want to increase my speed at lower engine RPM's for eg. Currently i reach 60 kmph at 5000 rpm. i want to do 60 kmph at 4000 rpm.
So my question which sprocket - front or rear should i change and what should the ratio. Is there any direct fit available for my model ?
I still have to check the stock config, but if anybody who know about CBZ* please advise.

Yes, you got that right. But one question; (classic) CBZ does 60 kmph at 5000 rpm?? I guess it should do around 65 at those revs.. Plz correct me experts if I'm wrong.Originally posted by sunilyo View PostHi

Anyways, moving on to your query you want to drop your rpm by 1000 in a given cruising speed in top gear.. Yes its possible but too much to ask. Dropping by more than 500 rpm will make your bike super slow in terms of acceleration & you may not like it.
So, try with 1 teeth oversize at front or 3 teeth undersize at rear & feel the change.
better to change whole chain set if its worn enough.

Yes this was the case before my crank, cam shaft etc. and a few other engine component got changed. Though once i had seen my bike doing 60 at 4000 revs, and the acceleration was just superb. now my tachometer doesn't work hence i am not 100% sure about the exact rpm at 60 it could be 4500 also but definitly not 4000 as it was once.
The HH SVC person had told me that the chain set needs to be changed but they can be use for another couple of thousand kms.
So if i go by your suggestion of increase 1 teeth at front then is there a direct fit for the CBZ*?
Or do you suggest that i change the stock chainset first see the result and then take a call?

according to me you should first get your hands on any not-under-use front sprocket of 1 teeth over size or 2-3 teeth under size rear sprocket from any mechanic because you will get it at dirt cheap price or might be free of cost, & try it.Originally posted by sunilyo View PostThanks Honda_CBF.

It'll give around 5kmph increase in a given rpm or will drop 500 rpm at given speed.
And sorry i'm not sure of any direct fitment (will get back to you if i come across) but other can help you hereLast edited by Honda_CBF; 04-29-2012, 11:40 AM.

I ride a stunner..stock sprockets 14t/43t...
was thinking of getting it to 15t/46t or 16t/50t
want to maintain the same stock acceleration and increase the top speed..what are your suggestions???sigpic

will definately increase highway mileage. city mileage may increase/decrease or may stay as it is.Originally posted by sunilyo View PostAnother question will this have any improvement in mileage ?
But if you find yourself riding in 5th gear most of the time with rpm most of the time above 3k and you're sedate rider, then I'd say its gonna increase (because same happened with me)

Hi, Stock cbz & cbz* runs on 14/46 set-up i.e. 14t sprocket up-front and 46t sprocket at rear.. and some years back i had experimented in terms of sprocketting and had used 15t HH Ambition's front sprocket which is a direct fit and because of whichOriginally posted by sunilyo View PostHi

- There were real gains in mid-end and initials. it used to pull like anything right from the first gear till 4th.. cruising in city was fun under this setup.
- Top-end was very adversely affected. if talk about stock set-up it reaches flawlwssly till 115 kmph but in 15t set-up post 60kmph bike use to take little long time to hit the rev limiter.
- mileage was some-thing that i had never bothered to check so no comments on that.
I did wanted to try out somethings that are better but didn't get any time after that as got busy with my studies and job now. Please let me know if you find out something better than this because i am right now running on stock set-up and wants to try on something better & have no time to hit & try..
Cheers
