  • If you want taller gearing you can drop the no. of teeths from the rear sprocket or increase the no. of teeth from the front sprocket. Normally 1 teeth change in front sprocket is equal to 3 teeth change on rear sprocket. I think pulsar 200 and 220 have lesser teeth in rear sprocket than 150. I am not sure though.

Be prepared for some experimentation though. Because in theory taller gearing would mean higher top speed but higher top speed generally does not depend only on this criteria. You can try by dropping 1 or 2 teeth from rear sprocket.

you are right pulsar 220 has lesser teeth in the rear sprocket.. but will it fit in pulsar 150?? the teeth size and all are the same or what?? will the bajaj service center guys do the work .. i have normally seen they are quite stupid .. i once wanted my kick replaced.. now the guy tells me they dont have kick of classic model in stock. i tell him, classic and dtsi have the same kick.. he says no.. i say yes. he argues.. then i have the kick brought from the spares dept. and had to prove it to him..

      • I am not sure it will fit or not.

Pulsar 200 Rear sprocket fittem in my Karizma. I think it might not fit in 150. You have to check unicorns or apache rear sprocket maybe.

Service center guys will not do this. You will have to find some other good mechanic. There will be a difference in chains also I guess for 220 and 150.

Sorry for late reply. No, P220's sprocket will NOT fit. Confirmed.
P150 classic has a 42 teeth sprocket, based on .428 chain pitch and 6 fitment holes. The P220 DTS Fi and DTSi have 37 and 36 teeth, but both are based on .520 and 4 fitment holes. So as you can see, the chain won't even match and run on the sprocket.

My suggestion is that you try LML Freedom's rear sprocket which is 40 teeth, .428 pitch and 6 fitments holes. I'm 90% sure it should fit. If that doesn't fit, try the FZ's rear 40T sprocket, but try LML Freedom's rear first.
And you might have to get this work done outside the Bajaj Service Centre.

@ the ghost rider: If you change the sprockets' teeth specs, you already changed the Overall gearing/ Final Gearing. This affects all the gears simultaneously.
But, "Gearing ratios" can be changed only by altering the gearbox, which is a complicated, risky process, certainly not recommended.

              • any help on sprockets for the cbr 250.

i believe that 150 should have lesser teeth in the rear sprocket.

                any help guys.

need a teeth more in front or 1 lesser in rear.

planning for a trip so looking forward to cruise at lower rpm. single rider no pillion so a lil accleration loss is fine.

                • Sprocketing for the CBZ

I have gone through the sprocketing thread. I had a query.
Will the CBZ Xtreme's sprocket/chain set be a direct fit on the CBZ Classic?
I understand that the CBZ-X has a 43T rear vs the CBZ Classic's 46T. Would there be a substantial drop in the acceleration? I understand that the cruising speed would increase by a slight margin.
                  Thanks,

acceleration loss will be highly noticeable if it fits. But i doubt it will fit.

Can some one provide details on the chain pitch of the Hero Impulse?

the sprockets are 17T Front and 50T Rear.

                      Thanks

From the pics provided in the below link, I think it is .428 pitch but can't be sure.

But if you got the bike with you, why don't you measure it yourself? Just take a scale/ measuring tape and find the distance between 2 links. It should be 4/8th inch (.4XX) or 5/8th inch (.5XX). That would be its width.

There is an ECU upgrade which will help you do that much more easily. Google for it.

Apart from the ECU, as suggested by Anant bro, sprockets can also be changed to overgear the Duke. Duke 200's setup: 14/43 on .520 chain pitch.

Try fitting one of the following rear sprockets:

                              1. Karizma's rear sprocket, 40 teeth,
                              2. Pulsar 180 UG4's rear sprocket, 39 teeth,
                              3. The very first Pulsar 200 DTSi's sprocket: 38 teeth,

I'm not too sure if these will help you achieve 150 kmph exact, but they should definitely help in a better top speed, if the road is good enough. And with these sprockets, you might lose a little acceleration.

                              • Just one confusion ..Does not change of gear(sprocket, chain etc should have same gear module rather than same pitch??

May be i am missing something(please enlighten..) but as far as my engg. knowledge is concerned for changing gears Module no.(m= no. of teethes/diameter of gear) needs to be same for correct meshing of gear or chain etc.

                                Anyone?? Please remove my confusion.
