Will cost you the oil price + oil filter price + chain clean and paid service charge.
3L oil = 2475(Motul FS)
Oil Filter = 634
Chain clean = 150(changes from showroom to showroom)
paid service charge = around 600 AFAIK

It will be around 4k.

I hope Pune guys reply, best bet will be to ask in KTM thread about the best svc in Pune.

Thanks buddy for replying.
Sure will post in ktm group and take the feedback.
I have my motul chain clean and lube + paddock which I bought recently. So will save on some amount on chain cleaning as it seems they might charge 250 to 300 rs ( which i read in few other threads).

Hi guys!

I had posted here a few months ago seeking advice about the Ninja. I am back for more advice. I'm at the verge of making a purchase and there are a lot of questions bugging my mind around now. I am looking at making this purchase a long lasting one. As long as 6-10 years. My first bike - the Honda Twister is still an amazing bike. I maintain it religiously - regular service, chain oiling, washing and the like. My second purchase, a TVS Apache RTR 180 abs has proven to be nothing but trouble, no matter how involved I get with the bike. The ABS has given up on me, and I can blame nobody but the TVS ASC for this. While I like getting my hands dirty, I'm no grease monkey. I prefer leaving the technical stuff to the people who are supposed to know what to do. The TVS ASC guys wouldn't even do the basic maintenance like tappet adjustments unless I explicitly specified that they have to do it. Hence, after just 4 years of owning the bike, I am itching to sell it off - even though I loved every moment I spent on it, just because I can't afford the monetary and emotional strain I face with keeping the bike in good health.

Now coming to upgrading - I clarified regarding the cost of maintaining the Ninja, but I am unclear as to how one has to deal with the service mechanics and the like. I understand that the nuances can be acquired after I make an actual purchase, but I'd like to know if the Bangalore KTM service centers are as bad as the TVS ASCs we have or will they at least identify the problems on their own? I understand there won't be any problems with the Ninja - with it being bulletproof and all - but if the ASC guys are as incompetent as the TVS ASC guys, then it is cause for worry.

Second question - I do plan on using the Ninja as a commuter, and while fuel is not an issue, I really would like to know if its hard in traffic. I'm not expecting long arduous stretches of traffic of the kind found at Silk Board or KR Puram bridge(both places in Bangalore), but more of the kind in Malleshwaram(again - Bangalore). I've heard tell of the not-so-adequate low end torque of the Ninja and I am worried about the "high-revving" nature of the bike.

Any advice is welcome. And if someone from Bangalore could pitch in with insight on service - I'm closer to Mekhri Circle KTM, and I live in Yelahanka which has its own KTM service but I'm bound not to trust their service at all.
Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.

Rides : Honda CB Twister(Feb 2011 - Present) | TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS(Sept 2012 - May 2016) | Honda CBR250R C-ABS Repsol(March 2017 - Present)

Hey, I stay near RT nagar, so we use similar roads and I have a Ninja 300.

I prefer the Kasturba road SVC as I know the mechanics there and never had any issue with them.

For city commute it has more than enuf power ,way more than what u can use in city. Also for the price, I can't think of a bike which can offer really more power without compromise.

As with any such bike, what you will notice is that it gets hot ( compared to the tvs's or pulsars) and you do feel it in current weather. If you are fine with it then ninja is a good bike to buy

1) you don't need to make frequent visits to service centers.
2) service (with oil and oil filter change) once in a year or after 12000 kms
3) chain cleaning and lubing can be done at home and you can save on that
4) carry out regular maintenance and you will be all smiles as the bike is niggle free.
5) and you can very well find an experienced mechanic for ninja in banglore
6) riding in b2b traffic could be an issue at times

As close as it can get I guess. Are you talking about the Langford KTM service? I don't remember any KTM service on Kasturba road. Did you also purchase your bike there? And isn't it quite a commute - R.T Nagar to Kasturba road? :P

Also in general, I'd like to state that I'm currently weighing 3 options - R3, N300 and CBR250R. My heart says N300, my brain says CBR and the R3 currently seems to fall in between the other two. So I am making a pros/cons list to decide between the three. I realize that the CBR is a single and doesn't compare to the other two bikes, but here in our country, I'd put them in the same bracket unless I lived closer to a track. The CBR has a refined engine and Honda reliability. It's easy on the pocket, can maintain triple digit speeds with ease and also is a proved tourer. These are the reasons I've put the CBR in the list. But it's by no means on the front bench right now.

Also, umm.. x017in ...? How long have you been riding the N300?

Hey thanks, just what I needed. I don't intend to use the Ninja in B2B traffic. I suspect I'll take the Twister when I know I'll be knee deep in honking automobiles :P

And wait... I thought the service interval for the ninja was at 6k km? :O It's 12k??

I have been riding the Ninja for 6 months, 5k kms . Langford road has the KTM showroom, not the service centre. The service is on Kasturba. The distance is about 8k from my house which is not too far.

I had zeroed in on the same options before I bit the bullet. Between the R3 and ninja if money is not considered then I prefer the Ninja mainly for service quality (I trust Bajaj / KTM service to Yamaha's). However if you are confident abt Yamaha service then R3 is a solid option.

Tech wise the additions on the Ninja are the slipper clutch and a better rear suspension setup. You won't need the former unless racing, but the suspension poise you can feel during daily use.

Also in terms of refinement I feel Ninja is the smoothest n then the rest.

Service interval is 6000 kms or 6 month whichever is earlier
However oil is changed only on alternate services

I rode almost an year in the traffic punched city areas you said.(KR Puram and Silk Board) and managing traffic is easy as any other faired bike. It is very difficult to find out the radiator fan working because its too quite to my liking, but once you munch miles and you spend some time on her, you can slowly understand when the fan kicks in. Once I even thought it wasnt working. And in traffic, The thing is you get a feel that if someone nicks you or touches your bike with theirs, it could dig a huge hole in your pocket. But thats the last part. Have been riding her for 2 years now and some 20k+ kms , I can say that you can do everything to it, trash it, it will still take it with a smile. The only reason I chose this was because of the reliability that Kawasaki gives free along with the vehicle as well as good service centres. Personally I have gone to marthahalli svc and Indiranagar one and found them quite good. But I usually service from Kerala only.
Svc manual says oil change at 12k interval. But to be on the safer side, ride no more than 6k with the motul and always keep an eye on the oil level.

Cheers

Not sure this is the right thread but couldn't find suitable one. I have been following this thread for long time and i realized one thing.

There is no single Z250 owner in Xbhp ? iam interested in naked style and my preference is Z250. but when i started to research...i couldn't find any ownership comments in xbhp or anywhere from India. Is Z250 available for sale in India ? anyone from Chennai in particular.?

I cant stretch my budget for N300 & i prefer naked bikes and iam not interested in Benelli bikes.

Thanks ...

Z250 is available on sale in Chennai, you can't find them on any showrooms. But you can order and get it, this is due to the very low sales of this model.

The cost is around 3.45 to 3.5... a few thousands more you can get 300cc bikes, hence the lack of interest.
