After all the drama with the bad clutches and steering headers, the R3 seems to be cutting off power to the engine due to an Error 19 - sometimes at very high speeds too. The Yamaha riders club seems to have reached out to Yamaha a good 6 months ago with this and Yamaha hasn't got back to them with any solutions yet. Of course, there's lesser reports of this compared to the clutch issue, but I could be one among those and I absolutely do not have the energy to fight for something I payed a premium to ride freely. The Ninja may seem costlier on paper but of the 10 owners I have got it touch with, apart from the chain sprocket, tyre and brake pad replacement, they barely incur any costs at all. This is very agreeable for my needs. The R3 is a great bike, but it seems to have space to grow up yet.
@Amodraut - lesser owners may lead to lesser travelogues and DIYs but it won't reduce the niggles a bike has. Considering that, yeah, lesser posts because of both less owners and practically no niggles in this bike.
I guess this is not the right place to discuss about R3. Error 19 issue is solved AFAIK . It was due to some lock issue and I am not sure if they will recall the bikes again to replace it. Some owners might get offended again and the replies would go on and on. Would suggest to discuss about Ninja alone here and also to open a new thread in ''What bike'' section to discuss about these two

You can go through page 1 to this page if you really want to get the count. Do let us know as well

On topic: Attaching some pics of recent track day at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore. Also some from recent rides.
Michelins were good, but are meant to be on the road rather than on the track.

    Sorry for some crappy pics

I'd rather not go to the what bike section! I'll stick to these two threads. Like you mentioned, I'll take that up on the R3 thread. Coming to your track day - Nice to see that you actually rode the bike down to the track Is that a zero gravity double bubble windshield on your bike?
Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.

      Rides : Honda CB Twister(Feb 2011 - Present) | TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS(Sept 2012 - May 2016) | Honda CBR250R C-ABS Repsol(March 2017 - Present)

looks like you are enjoying the knee touch downs. Kudos to your spirit. Whats the windshield model that is on your ninja? Is it really effective during cross winds while touring? where can i get it in india?

The ones from abroad are not shippable to India.

Hello there, Thank you for your kind words.
The windshield is MRA, half tinted. Yes, it blocks wind better than the stock one, but dont expect magics

Has everyone here followed the break in of the engine by the book ?
If not, are really any long term affects? Apart from the fact that u dont redline the engine during run in or keep at same rpm for long.

Most of us follow. If I am not wrong its 4k rpm limit till 1000kms and ~7k till 1600 kms. I would really suggest you to follow it till 1000kms(assuming you change your oil at 1k) and you can ride it anyway after that. Occasional burst ups should be fine though.

                Hi Guys,

I've been following the thread on and off since more than a year (as a silent spectator) when I decided to buy this bike. Due to some personal issues I hadn't been able to go forward with it. Right now, things seem to be as stable as it would get for me (fingers crossed ) and so I've been in touch with the folks at Kawasaki Indiranagar showroom in Bangalore (since most others don't even have a display bike let alone a test ride bike) since October.

However, I haven't been able to get a test ride of the bike till now due to some niggles on the test ride bike that they have and they've been telling me the bike is in service centre for well over a month now.

I realise anyone who has purchased this, vouch for this bike and I've done my fair bit of research before deciding on this. Still I would like to just get the feel of the bike once (even on a small stretch) before shelling the dough and going ahead with the purchase. Would be really grateful if any of the owners could help me get the feel of the bike anytime they're free.

                Thanks in advance!!

P.S. I live in BTM and have spotted a couple of these green machines on the move, but have never had the chance to talk to the riders.

Then it will be lil difficult bro !!!

But from your perspective a small TD will not destruct your years of interest towards Ninja!!!

                      Enjoy!!!

U just can't go wrong with the ninja. R3s are having their fair share of issues. No complaints though. It's a new entrant. And issues will be solved over time for sure. But ninja has years of refinement. Hassle free ownership for years to come.

There is an xBhp initiative called AIERS. There is a google form attached to the thread. There is bound to be at least one xBhp-ian who is from Noida or close by listed there. That will be your best bet. Do mention that you got their number from xBhp when you call, be civil, courteous and considerate of their respective situations when you call for help.

Hope this helps. I wish your friend the best of luck with his racing.

                              Just a question.

What if on-road price/spare parts price/service cost/etc were same for both N300 & R3? Which one will you buy?

Ninja 300. Eyes closed. Only reason R3 is in contention is price point.
