I don't agree with you on this one, ABS reduces stopping distance. In some cases it might be wise to turn off ABS like in off roading or stunt otherwise ABS is good on tarmac.Originally posted by Venkatesh Velmani View Post

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I agree with that part that there is less feel, but, till now the brakes have performed very well. I have come to standstill from ~120 kmph in around 3-4 secs.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostMy bike has completed 1000kms now. No issues to report.
My thoughts - The bike is a blast to ride in any situations. However, the front suspension could have been a wee bit softer. It does not take sharp edges too well. Other than that, handling gets full marks. The engine is a hoot to ride - just need to keep it above 3k rpm. I ride in Bangalore during peak hours for daily commuting. Fuel efficiency is ~25kmpl. That small tank is a bother though. Can hardly fill fuel worth 600 bucks when the reserve indicator comes on. Other than that, the headlight could be improved. I will try out Phillips ExtremeVision. And, the stiff clutch still is a bother when getting stuck in traffic jams.
However, there is an observation I want to tally with other owners. The front brake has very less feel and compared to the R15 it feels wooden. Also, the braking in a hurry from 80+ kmph is not exactly what I would call confidence inspiring. Agree? Or is there something wrong with my bike?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Unfortunately this statement is fundamentally false.Originally posted by Venkatesh Velmani View PostYes, the abs does have a lesser bite compared to the normal system. Even the distance to reach standstill will be more compared to riding with abs off. This is to prevent the tires from locking up and provide straight line stability while breaking.
Switching the abs off and try breaking. You'll definitely have a lot more bite.
1.> ABS does not interfere with breaking pressure until the point of inevitability of wheels locking up.
2.> It is a Myth that breaking distance is lesser without ABS than with it.

Yes, I believe a scratch guard should get the job done!Originally posted by shootingstar View PostBTW do you know how to protect instrument panel, I see some scratches on it, do you guys think its good to use mobile scratch guard protector ??

No that means the ABS is off. When you power on/battery on the bike ABS sign lights up...when u start and role a small distance the ABS goes off means that ABS is on.Originally posted by srivaatsav View PostGuys
Have a doubt . Just wanted to know how to switch on the ABS ?
I turned on the bike pressed the ABS switch the ABS starts blinking does that mean its turned on ??

Yes true, the feel is less. I hit the brakes hard when I spotted a speed breaker at the last moment and thought will have to stand up to take the bump..but the bike slowed down and I went over the breaker while being seated on the bike..the feel was poor so never thought I would make it.Originally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostI agree with that part that there is less feel, but, till now the brakes have performed very well. The ABS does improve/shorten the stopping period. When any bike starts to skid means the traction is lost hence the distance increases. I remember that an ABS bike can stop 3 Metres less from a bike without ABS at a certain speed as per an video. The distance without ABS was 30 metres while with ABS was 27 Metres. Cant remember the speed though.Originally posted by Venkatesh Velmani View PostGuess, I must be wrong then.. But I distinctly remember reading about this somewhere, can't recollect where though.. :/

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I visited the SVC today and it turns out the front handle/wheel is not aligned correctly!!! The SVC kept it for repairs.
I am incredibly disappointed - after paying so much to get these kind of faults. Did not expect this from a brand like KTM. I am worried if they will be able to set it right

Went to Banashankari trying to find auto service - the ktm service station. Kept the bike at BDA complex and asked around for 28th cross... roamed all around and came back without finding the place
... can anyone please point me the direction to reach this place?
PS... am really bad when it comes to knowing routes. the best route that I know is only Electronics city to Indira Nagar

Yes, its a bit unfortunate since we all expect a certain standard from KTM, but, I am sure that these niggles are only because these are initial lots and will soon disappear.Originally posted by timuseravan View PostI visited the SVC today and it turns out the front handle/wheel is not aligned correctly!!! Dont worry, KTM is bound to set it right since it is a manufacturing defect.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I too felt that the brakes lack feedback , compared to my Ninja 250R.
What I've observed is that one has to squeeze the brake lever hard to get the necessary bite. Also abs kicks in early at high speeds. I'm not really sure at this stage (hardly covered 1.5k) if they are reducing braking distance or just being too proactive to prevent lockup.
I had to panic brake today from around 120kmph .Felt the abs kicking in early. I didn't get the necessary feedback from the brakes, had a few scary moments before the bike came into controllable speeds. Due to the lack of feedback it actually feels that the braking force is insufficient, but in actuality, I would have braked and gotten the bike into control much sooner that I expected.
Just wondering, if it's just a matter of getting used to the brakes. Will be able to comment more on the abs with more Kms under my belt.
Cheers!

You don't need to go towards bda complex. Have you seen bata showroom there?Originally posted by peaesus View PostWent to Banashankari trying to find auto service - the ktm service station. From bata showroom, head straight towards monotype. You will come to a circle, head straight and take the first left. A hyundai service center is present just opposite to autoservice.
