After waiting for 146 days, being delivered a faulty bike in between, all the delivery issues, being taken for a ride by some smarta** officials giving me vague reasons every now and then.
Finally, I got a new bike today and thanks to the almighty, it was delivered without a single issue.

As far as I know there are is only one high octane fuel available in India i.e. Speed 97 which is RON 95 I guess. Considering the compression ratio of the bike, if you have access to Speed 97 use that else any other RON 91 fuel would do. I am currently using RON 91 and have plans of doing the next tank up of RON 97. I will update my experience post that.

I don't think too much of the branded fuels though. Additives won't help what will help is the higher octance rating.

After riding for about 100kms since Monday, I noticed a strange issue - the handle bar and console is not quite straight and perpendicular to the body/wheel!! It is slightly inclined towards the right side. I am taking it to SVC today - hopefully should not be a big problem

I am used to super smooth gear shifts, even on my C5. And the gear "thud" on 390 is getting on my nerves.

On the positive side, I have shaved off 5 mins one way from my daily commute

By the way i would suggest you stay away from that 220's tankpad (self experience. i went the cheapo way after some prankster scratched off my race stripe on my RTR. and put on the pulsar ones...it stayed cool for some time but when i removed it for doing a race stripe sticker work, the whole place that the glue touched the tank was yellow in color, no matter how hard i tried stain removers and polishes and wax , it was in vain. )

I would suggest you not to go stingy on tankpads and get a keiti one at the very least (a faux carbon fibre one would look cool)

p.s. applied a keiti one on mine anyhow. sadly a transparent one though

nothing per se, i had to apply the transparent one over that yellow stain i mentioned above, so a part of it is still seen through that.

Ok, after few days of usage with the windscreen, this is what I feel. The windblast can be felt only upwards from the neck. It's very comfortable to do speeds upwards 120Kmph. Hell, I even did 155Kmph on an empty road and it was very comfortable. And the windscreen's top doesn't flutter around even at 150Kmph speeds.

Another thing I noticed is, if any of you guys do hi-speeds without a proper jacket things will get uncomfortable because the windblast is directed towards your neck and you'll feel like someone is chocking you! Wear a proper jacket and secure the neck strap and you cannot feel a thing!

Bottomline - very happy with the mod!

For people who wants to try this,

Get a Fazer's Windscreen
Remove the stock visor
Place it on top of the Fazer's visor and mark the areas to be drilled.
Use a soldering or drilling machine to make holes.
Fix the new visor and tighten the bolts till the end so that it's secure.
Enjoy!

I have used Keiti Tank pad & those are best according to me at 1,000 rupees ... (used on RTR)

. Though I was tucked in and was armoured with full riding gears, anything beyond 160+ does literally choke you real bad which is very uncomfortable!!

Chill. Most of us are on normal petrol. You should be fine as long as you fill up most of the time from trusted pumps. One of the guys even took it up Leh and back on normal fuel.

After riding the new bike for 100+ kms I would like to point out the difference between the test 390 and the production version.

* The heating issue has considerably reduced.

* The startup issues have been dealt with and the bike starts even if it’s very hot with a single press of a starter.

* The city rideability has been improved a lot, the test bike was just not useable in the 4th and above gears at speeds below 45-50. This although not advisable on a new bike is still doable on the production version.

* The hand guard quality is better than on the test bike, the edges are finished now unlike the crude plastic ones on the test bike. The insides are also painted black which was not the case on the test bike and inside was the same white plastic color.

* The power delivery has been tamed on the production version. The test bike was more aggressive. It pushed the shoulders back when the bike used to hit the peak powerband, happens on the new bike too but is subtle. This I am saying after riding 3 production version bikes. So, no chance of any issues with the bike. Might have been done to improve city rideability , lessen the heat or to improve the fuel economy(highly unlikely).

* The production version does a 100kmph in 6th at 5400rpm but from what I remember the test bike used to do it around 5100rpm. If anyone else can confirm this? Might be the reason why the bike is acting as a better city bike compared to the demo 390.
