  • Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences

I had previously stated that the engine was shutting down whenever I decelerated with clutch engaged. Had given my bike to the svc to figure out and fix the issue. After almost a week since, I can say that there is no change whatsoever. The bike stalls almost 80% of time. Will go to the svc if I get time this weekend.

Seems like I have bought a premium pulsar instead of KTM and going by my experience, most of my weekends are going to be spend in svc....phew...

Oops. Get the fuel filter changed, and possibly an ECU remap. I plan to get both done during second service.

Collecting my bike after replacing the entire wiring today. Lets see if things get better.

But I agree, the ownership has not been a good experience :/

I too am thinking along the same lines. Hope your issues are sorted out and do let us know if everything's fine or not.

Just picked up the bike after having the entire wiring replaced. From the initial 20km ride, the console reseting randomly(with JG error) , the occasional weak horn, and bike stalling while decelerating with depressed clutch seems to have been sorted. Need to ride more before I can confirm 100%.

Faced a strange issue today. Bike stalled as usual while decelerating and then just refused to start. No matter how many seconds I pressed the ignition switch, it refused to start. Took some time to get it started again. This happened twice in the span of 5 minutes and then everything was back to normal. The bike is starting in a single go...confused...

Woh! I have been facing this issue too! Its happened thrice with long gaps between each occurrence. Initially I thought it was nothing but then I talked to the svc guys about it and I was asked to leave my bike overnight on Tuesday as they want to check the clearances for which they need the bike to cool down. So will be leaving it there this Tuesday.

Also saw this 690 cc ktm there, which belonged to a guy from Australia. He is on some sort of world trip, he wasn't there at the time so couldn't find out much. But the bike sure looked cool !
When life gives you Yamaha, make it RD350 not R15. :D

Same issue had happened to me twice but never had any starting issues after. According to the technicians at the SVC, its because the spark plug is wearing out and the same issue has been reported for the D200's too and a spark plug replacement solved the issue. I haven't shown the bike to the SVC for the issue. No clues.

If you worried about falling off the bike, you'd never get on.

Even I have been having this stalling issue while on move, randomly. Bike starts fine after stalling.

While tightening the chain last evening at home, saw oil leaking from front fork right side. The dreaded busted fork seal. Am sitting at autoservice trying to get that thing fixed while I type this. What a way to spend my Sunday. :-(

Was told that mine is the first case of busted fork seal in Bangalore.

Please lest us know your experience once you get your bike from svc. Also would suggest you to take a pic or two of your engine and frames. Not saying engineers at Kirti Nagar are not good, but accidents happen. Talk to the manager (Mr Bijender) there and he will ensure that the bike is properly checked.

It was there last week when I went to svc too. If the 390 adventure is anything like it, well, I may exchange my duke for it.

Am not worried about the cost, but reliability. 2.5k kms on a new bike with decent riding mostly in city. And seals go kaput. Hope it's one off case. And yes, the new seal was covered under warranty. Had to pay for the fork oil.

Was just wondering whether anyone here has used a ecu mapping tool like TuneECU or the KTM UST? Also, I read in some forums that when due to changes in European Standards, bike manufacturers have mapped the ecu to stop injecting fuel when throttle is closed. Guessing whether this is the case with my bike...hmmm.... next time I visit the svc will try to make them read the ECU fault codes in front of me.

2nd Service of my 390 is done at 6200 kms.
Total Bill was around 1800 including Engine oil, Oil Filter and other consumables.

My 390 has been trouble free till now, so no issues reported during Servicing. Bike has become smooth after 2500kms and after oil change its little more smooth.

                              Overall, Happy 390 Customer.
