Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
The LS2 has 4 intakes and it is good enough. Personally I dint like the quality of SOL, looks good on the website but in flesh you can really make out that it is not worth what you pay. It was sub standard for the price and I felt 5k more for a lighter Carbon Fibre helmet is good. Finally it is your choice, take a look at both in FLESH and then decide.Originally posted by coolmaverickguyYoung riders pick a destination and go, Old riders pick a direction and go !

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I've asked about this before but I didn't get any reply. Whenever I press only the rear brake hard, I hear a *tak* sound from the rear. It's as if something is striking something. What could this be? Although the ABS works and rear wheel doesn't lock.

That might be the exhausts metal shield that may have lost one of its damping rubber mount.Originally posted by senotrius View Postguys maybe this is a common issue but I'm hearing a jingling sort of sound from the rear.left side more so.not a rattle.sounds similar to trinket/coin as in not a rattle like between the mudguard and chain guard.like some small metallic piece is loose.any pointers?
That tak sound is the abs working. If you do it at greater speeds you'll hear repeated tak-tak sound along with the lever juddering. This is because the brake fluid pressure is being regulated.Originally posted by tusharsmoily View PostI've asked about this before but I didn't get any reply. That is probably the ABS kicking in, you will feel a vibration when the wheel approaches lock-up point under hard braking.Originally posted by tusharsmoily View PostI've asked about this before but I didn't get any reply. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
CONTINUING on the STALLING ISSUE:
Last night, on my way home from work (22kms distance), i could stall the bike at will (60%). This is how it goes. mostly in 2nd or 3rd gear, speeds of around 20-60kmph, accelerate the bike to around 5000rpm, pull the clutch completely, and simultaneously release the throttle completely, and voila! the bike stalls. Happened too many times even to remember last evening. And i could also stop the bike from stalling by not closing the throttle completely, But thats an added mental load, and an annoying one. THis morning on my way to work, it just stalled twice as i was consciously not letting go of the throttle completely. Have fixed an appointment with autoservice, banashankari, for this saturday to look in to the matter.
a few observations:
At slightly higher speed when the bike stalls, release the clutch (in gear) and the bike restarts again and continues.
At times, the bike starts without rebooting even in gear (clutch pressed)
At times it refuses to start. got the get it to neutral, reboot and try
i have been running on normal petrol from day one. could that be related? the feeling is like clogged injector, or low idling rpm. ( but on console it hovers around 1.4 to 1.6 k RPM, which i guess is the usual).
I am damn confused and worried, and i dont even have my second bike, as its opened up for a paint job.

Please speak to Mr. Venkat Shyam before you go and once you are there please speak to Mr. Babu just so that the technicians there know that you are in touch with their bosses. Based on my 1st service experience, I don't think too highly about their technicians attitude to work.Originally posted by nasirkaka View PostHave fixed an appointment with autoservice, banashankari, for this saturday to look in to the matter.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I did speak to Babu this morning and he asked to visit them today itself. I am too tiedup with work, so told him i will visit on saturday. Got my fork seal replaced there under babu's guidance last sunday and it was satisfactory experience. while getting that done, also had a long chat with Ventak sir, about 390 & bikes in general.Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostPlease speak to Mr. Venkat Shyam before you go and once you are there please speak to Mr. Babu just so that the technicians there know that you are in touch with their bosses. Even i was not too happy with my first service experience there, as you rightly said, it helps if venkat sir or Babu is involved in the process.

Hopefully the root cause will be found now that you can stall the bike at will.Originally posted by nasirkaka View PostCONTINUING on the STALLING ISSUE:

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Went to Service to check on my bike's progress. Surprise surprise, there was one more 390 with an accident from oncoming vehicle in wrong direction. That bike had suffered similar damage as mine. Trellis frame also damaged and replaced.Originally posted by psv_krishna View PostAfter writing to KTM, I received call yesterday evening. Senior service engineers from Pune and Hyderabad talked to me about the issue.
They are also clueless on how the spokes cracked, all of them. They say even with a high speed crash, Rims could crack or bent but nothing like this ever happens.
They are studying the impact scenario and the wheel for understanding if there are any defective moulds, which have produced such wheel.
Response from KTM is positive. This could be one off cases. They are working on the issue.
This also means that rims cracking on high speed impact may not be design but a manufacture defect. Waiting for further updates.
My bike was also completely checked and found that my frame had damage. All parts are ordered and now shipped, will be recieved by this weekend. So my bike will be done by next week.
I still hope these 2 bikes with frame damage is just one off cases. Both bikes invovled in similar incidents, had trellis frame damage, and other front portions damaged. I hope this should stop happening to any bikes in future. Accidents on Indian roads are bound to happen, but damages to frame and alloy wheels (like in my example) should not happen in this magnitude. Have a safe ride all you guys.

I can stall my bike at will and went on multiple test drives with the svc guy to show him the problem. The issue is still present after their diagnosis and fixes.Originally posted by timuseravan View PostHopefully the root cause will be found now that you can stall the bike at will.

The folks at KTM Kirti Nagar are clueless about the problem. Hopefully some other SC will be able to figure out the issue.Originally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostI can stall my bike at will and went on multiple test drives with the svc guy to show him the problem. If no one is able to figure it out, I think we should write to Bajaj and KTM. There is a real chance of being rear ended if the bike stalls at an unfortunate time.कृपया यहाँ पर ज्ञान न बांटे
