i think its quite clear that D 390 is the more practical choice but like i said.. immaturity at its best here with me..

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
1st Service update:
Got mine serviced @ 930 KMs today.
Following the broadcast on various forums, asked the service adviser if he can fit the slipper clutch.
He said that they are still seeking clarifications from the company (KTM / Bajaj) on how will it affect warranty and hence could not be done now.
The rest was same old same old.
All the fluids were topped up. Chain was cleaned, lubed and adjusted.
Shift light now set up to 7.5K and 10.5K.
Bike feels smoother, gruntier and alas the gear clunkier. Kind of a reminder of my old P180 and that they both come from the same stable.
I had them adjust the headlight too. The way I got mine upon purchase was in "Rage" mode. Lower beam to shine in the Wing mirrors of cars up ahead and Upper beam to dazzle those truckers. Not a lot of spread on the road where I need it
I hope they have set up as per the manual, else will try the DIY some day.
Question
My bike, being from the pre-19 updates lot should have the next service due at ODO reading of 6000 KM or 150 days from purchase. The manual says 6000 KM
But my bike shows 7500 KM for next service and counting down.
The manual does not have any way to adjust it. Guess again will have to ask SVC.
I am curious to know what is the experience of others with 2015 D390s but the model sans 19 upgrades ?
cheers!Last edited by Mightisright; 03-13-2015, 11:38 AM.Before - Waiting for 150 KMPH+ Indian bike

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
What I meant was, they could have updated the firmware(software) on the Engine control unit to accommodate the new service interval.
I'm not sure, just guessing.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I dont think the new updates have anything to do with the increase in svc intervals. KTM just gave a update to svc's to change the mandatory service intervals from 5000KM's to 7500KM's and updated the newer service booklets to reflect the same. However, for the older lots I believe the booklets aren't updated and hence the confusion.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
The service interval is fixed i.e. it cannot be adjusted via the console like say the RPM1 and RPM2. If it is reset, it will show what it is programmed for. Earlier bikes had a 5k interval so your next service should normally be at around 6k on the odo.Originally posted by Mightisright View PostQuestion

The newer dukes/rc's have a service interval of 7500, so if the first service is done at 1000km the next service will be at 8500 km.
What I am not sure is if this interval was incorporated on the previous model of the d390 (i.e. without slipper clutch) itself.. maybe the ones from Dec '14/Jan'15 have this new logic for increased service interval already incorporated. Because the newer RC's come with this 7500km service interval though they do not have the slipper clutch or other major changes.. I have seen the manuals of both the earlier and current lot of the RC's and this 7500km interval is clearly mentioned on the new manual.
But you say that the manual mentions only 6k , so you better write in to ktm and get it clarified.
Maybe.. but i highly doubt itOriginally posted by sriharsha_madineni View PostMaybe they re-flashed the ECU?

When i asked my svc, they said nothing will change wrt service intervals.. if your bike has a 5k interval it will continue to do so while the newer ones come with a 7.5k intervalOriginally posted by snapppy View PostKTM just gave a update to svc's to change the mandatory service intervals from 5000KM's to 7500KM's and updated the newer service booklets to reflect the same. Yes the owners manual might have not been updated for the d390's but again its better to have this clarified from ktm.

Guys. My bike's front end twitches above 140 kmph. As soon as i cross 139 the front end feels like its light and the handle just twitches. I dont know how to explain it better. Its so worse that i cant take it above 145. I am genuinely scared at that speed. I used to take it to 160 165 etc. What could be the problem? Wheel balancing. Coneset? Pls help. Coz if i take it to service centre without having some idea. They will be of no help.

But my friend has the same tyre on his 390. He safely takes it to 160. Bo oroblems whatsoever. Its not like i go at that sort of speeds all the time. But i would be happy to know its there and when my brother takes her out for a spin, i would like to know that the bike is safe.

Slipper clutch can be installed on the older models it's just a matter of sourcing the necessary spares. I'd suggest give it a few months and down the line it should be easy to upgrade one such addition to the motorcycle.Originally posted by GautamNarvane View PostA recent news reports that an old ktm duke 390 cannot be fitted with a slipper clutch as mentioned previously.

DUKE RIDER
Check the tire rotation, check your air pressure, check your front end bearings, check your alignment, check your forks if it's tight, make sure all these are ticked and then I guess it should be fine. Twitching happens due to bearing failure, improper alignment and what not.Originally posted by backlash4u View PostBut my friend has the same tyre on his 390. He safely takes it to 160. @ others, And the speedo interval is just a logic change from the speedo side, nothing much on the ECM/ECU side, as verified by the mechanic. There is no correlation to this w.r.t to the ECU as confirmed by the dealership mechanic.
Cheers!

I own an RC390. Wanted to install slipper clutch but the company is not authorizing. May be because people will then buy RC only and install slipper clutch into it and duke 390 sale will not rise. So as of now no retro fit but in my opinion when RC rolls out with slipper clutch retro fitting it will be allowed.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostSlipper clutch can be installed on the older models it's just a matter of sourcing the necessary spares.
