    ENGINE RUNNING TOO RICH
    Hi,
I recently got my bike serviced, and I noticed a few problems with the running of the engine:
    1. The exhaust seems smokier than usual, I could be mistaken here.
    2. My average seems to have dropped down from ~28 to ~25kmpl. (over fairly similar riding)
    3. It feels rougher at the top end.. around 7500+rpm

The bike's done 23k km. Could it be the age of the engine? Could I be doing something wrong? How to test/modify fuel-air ratio?

//PS: On certain occasions it seems to really run really really smoothly, I'll have a better look at whether that happens when it's cold or hot

Well, I just received my RC. Month of Manufacture is 01/2016 and registration is 13th Jan, 2016. Hope the RC now qualifies the bike as a Jan, 2016 model all in all? Please advice. Thanks
Yes it will be considered January manufactured & registered bike. But if we go by VIN no. Then I think it's not January manufactured right ?

Obviously not, but all of this while the RC book dates were the most valuable thing for resale wasn't it?

Yes, just enjoy your ride [emoji3] and you are not selling your bike anytime soon so why worry now.

Not worrying at all bro, Jan Registration for me was enough, an entry for Jan manufacturing was a Gift Both dates make for an awesome new year

Paddock Stand: Which one's better - Swing Arm or Bobbin spool version. Thanks

It really shouldn't smoke at all in the first place. What color smoke are you seeing ? bluish? White?
How is the oil color and coolant levels ? Milky white/greyish oil migh indicate coolant leak/mix with oil which might also result in some smoke.
Ask the svc to read out and clear any errors.. then start the bike and let the bike idle for 15minutes. this will let the ecu relearn the parameters. when they clear the memory(not sure what exactly its called)the bike tends to hesitate and shut off during acceleration for the first few km.. letting it idle for 15minutes will prevent this.
Next I would advice you run a mix of 'adon p' to the fuel for two tank fulls(15ml for one the tank full). Adon P is available at most Indian oil petrol outlets.
Finally one overlooked culprit could be the O2 sensor.

Such long idling may be detrimental to the engine! It's better to ride slowly if the ECU needs to re-learn.

                A small read - http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars...-harms-engine/

A warm up should be 45-60 seconds max!

Second, the RC390 has already come out with Slipper Clutch without any notice and those are the 2016 manufactured bikes and there is no hike in the price as well. So that's what I meant earlier!
2016 model will have day time running lights, so no headlight switch

I have clicked around 8600kms on my RC 390 and it's time for the rear tyre change. I checked a few dealers in Delhi and the best quote I got so far is

                    Michelin 5550

                    Metzeler 9000

Is there any chance of getting better price?
Check on flipkart, I got it for 5k a month back

Yep, nothing major. Engine will be slightly more refined compared to 2015 models. Anyone planning on buying a KTM Duke 390 should do so in this year itself since it will be the 4th iteration and the most refined of the lot.

2017 will see the bikes being built on a new platform and they may not perform better or as good as the current models.

Was the 2015 engine refined as compared to 2013 & 14 models?

Why haven't they been vocal about it then? Strange that, cause the more awareness the better especially when they've made refinements.

Its not something significant enough to warrant an announcement. The company takes feedback from customers and fine tune their manufacturing process so the engines maybe slightly more better than the ones previously manufactured.

Like I said, its my experience, its subjective. I spend quite some time with the bike, feeling everything it outputs. As a matter of speaking there might not be any change at all and its all in my head, who knows.

And about the fact on why they delay the announcements on major changes, thats a mystery. Because 2016 RC390 is already available with the slipper clutch yet they havent made any announcements regarding it.
