I have heard people saying "The new Dukes will arrive with a new set of issue" that's the only thing I'm worried about. Also the bike is getting a lot of changes due to the Euro VI emission norms, and I have no idea how that will affect the mileage of this bike.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
I have made up my mind for the G310R but looking at these leaked images and videos I have decided to wait till the launch in November. After that I will have a clear picture.Originally posted by franklin ros View Post

Does any mother know, her son will become a jack@$$, does any mother know her son will become a dimwit. Well, people will say things based on the current experiences, and I don't disagree. But what ultimately matters is what you want in the end. As you've mentioned, wait, test drive, then go for it. Do not obsess over what people with with little to zero experience on what they're actually talking about. They are more dangerous than half-baked ones.Originally posted by kausarayub View PostI have made up my mind for the G310R but looking at these leaked images and videos I have decided to wait till the launch in November. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
There have been quiet a bit of changes/improvements over the couple of years on the 390. And the euro VI changes have already been implemented for some export models since a few months now.Originally posted by kausarayub View PostAlso the bike is getting a lot of changes due to the Euro VI emission norms, and I have no idea how that will affect the mileage of this bike.
The major changes seem to be implemented on the frame(bolt on sub frame?) and some electronics, probably ride by wire and console related features.
The engine itself has had some minor improvements over the past couple of years and none of the changes that they have implemented so far has backfired or caused some new issue.. the current bike is pretty niggle free. So I doubt they would screw up on the engine front in the upcoming model. If you have the patience, then its worth the wait, even if its going to be launched in Jan/Feb 2017.
Precisely. You got to test ride the bike you want to buy at least a few times. Don't go blindly by what you read on some reviews.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostBut what ultimately matters is what you want in the end. Any idea how much it will cost to replace it?
I was given a quote of Rs.3000 for part and Rs.400 for labour by Kasturba Road KTM.
I went there on Tuesday and after seeing the crack the SA said replacement is not required. There is a small crack on the cover of the air filter (where the nut sits) which is too small to warrant a replacement. If needed in future, top cover alone will be replaced.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Any new bike will have it's fare share of issues and first time adopters will face them. There is no logical reason for a new "Duke" to be any more problematic than a new CBR. The KTMs aren't fill it and shut it kind of work horses in many ways, but I have experienced them to be reliable machines.Originally posted by kausarayub View PostI have heard people saying "The new Dukes will arrive with a new set of issue" that's the only thing I'm worried about. Plus, if anything the G310R being a brand new platform could be even more problematic than a current or next gen 390. This is because the new 390 will have changes, but those changes are an evolution of an existing model.
In my opinion, due to the existence of the 200s and 125sbefore the launch of the 390, people expected the 390 to be a mature project. But it's a full 173cc more than a 200 and many "issues" are simple by products of that increase. Som real issues it had was also result of the increased stress the platform has to deal with. Over all, I feel that the new 390 will be just as reliable and robots s the post 2015 models. I own a late 2015 model and my experience so far has be absolutely delightful. Check my posts here and you will see that I only faced minor issues that seem trivial in the long run. I have had my bike for 7 months and have covered 10.4k km with a lot of highways and non existent roads. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, the bike has never left me stranded and has always made me smile with just a twist of the right wrist. Over all FE is about 26kmpl. Highway runs yield much better numbers too.
As for the Euro 4 spec and its possible FE figures, we can't be sure now, but I can only see the figure going up.Must ride on!

It already has a powertronics box. The person is using a r15 front fairing for the races..

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Guys,
I have bought the Roots Windtone 90 horn for my Duke 390. I see that, to install it as a pair, I need to use a relay setup. If I want to use only one of them (considering that the low tone is loud enough for me), can I connect it to the stock setup or do I still have to go with the relay setup?
Can anyone throw light on the current rating of the stock horn? I read somewhere that the current rating of the Roots Windtone is 5A. Is that for the pair or a single piece?
Suggestions please.
Happy Biking Everyone
Cheers,
Krish

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
If you look behind the actual horn itself, it will be mentioned as 12v/5A on each of the horns. But I doubt if each one is individually rated at 5A. And yes, these horns are pretty loud and are a blessing on the highwaysOriginally posted by krishkaz View PostI have bought the Roots Windtone 90 horn for my Duke 390. Be it you install one horn or the pair, i would suggest you throw in the relay. Get the 4 pin relay (small rectangular one).

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
The stock horn is close to 2 to 3 amps if my memory serves me correct. Using any of the horn other than single or a piece of a dual set requires relay. This makes sure your horn circuitry doesn't get melted or the switch gear doesn't fry due to the excess amp load. Relays solve this problem, since they act as a secondary switch.Originally posted by krishkaz View PostGuys,

When installing more than one horn, unless twin horns come as stock from the factory, always install a relay.
