Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Has anyone tried any other coolant apart from the stock neon green colored one? Engine heating remains a noticeable niggle in the 390 and I think using coolants designed to work on bigger engines (Producing a lot more heat) will work better than the stock one(which might be a result of cost cutting). Ive been thinking about using Engine Ice. Has anyone used it here?Regards,

I replaced the stock OEM coolant with engine ice about 10 days ago. I can help you out with some info.
Now, Lets forget the High coolant temperature bar. I'll only talk about the lower segment temperature bar.
With the Stock coolant, the bike ran 2 bars below the top. If I took her out early in the morning it would run 3 bars below.
With Engine Ice, the bike still runs 2 bars below the top but takes MUCH longer to hit that bar. And when taken out early in the mornings, it runs 4 bars below the top.
The fan does run in B2B traffic but it also cuts out much faster.
This is on a 2016 June DUke390.
Make sure you flush out all the green coolant like I did because I've heard a lot of cases where the service center/ workshop doesn't do a good job and the coolant isn't running up to the mark.
Hope I helped

This is a good news-was a slightly smaller variant also available, like missing the top carrier plate/tubes,just the saddlebag stabilizers on the sides-always wanted a D390 but never took the plunge due to its limited luggage tying ability.Originally posted by Skanda View PostGot the carrier custom fitted at Manali. Can you elaborate and also show the various fastening/mounting points to the frame/bodywork/passenger footpegs/rear mudflap/saree gaurd mount?

Will open a thread for Duke luggage carrier and do a review of both this and faasterwheels carrier. But this thing is the best that has happened. Loaded around 50kg and it is still holding up excellent.Originally posted by zestbiker View PostThis is a good news-was a slightly smaller variant also available, like missing the top carrier plate/tubes,just the saddlebag stabilizers on the sides-always wanted a D390 but never took the plunge due to its limited luggage tying ability.

Air filter box has developed a crack. Unfortunately, bike is out of warranty (Oct 2013). Cost of going for a 'value-for-money' product I suppose.
Any idea how much it will cost to replace it?A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

Not really. it's all in the human mind.Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostCost of going for a 'value-for-money' product I suppose.
there have been instance of failure/recall of parts on other automobiles, and there will continue to be such incidents in the future. you might be well aware of a few such cases even in the 'premium' class. Expecting mechanical stuff to last forever doesn't make sense.
for you a 390 might be 'value-for-money' , while for some it might be 'too expensive'.
Try to understand the product (be it an automobile or anything) before investing in one, and more important, learn to live the small 'problems' that might crop up.

To me, this is not a small problem. Unfiltered air can reduce engine life and as a consumer NO, I will not put up with this. Because with this kind of attitude, we only multiply the Royal Enfield type of companies.
While I don't expect it to last forever, I don't expect it to crack in less than three years either. And this, is not a moving part. YMMV.
Lastly failure and recall are not the same. Failure is common but recall VERY uncommon here in India. And this is exactly my gripe. KTM knows that there is a manufacturing defect and should have recalled but it didn't.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

What manufacturing defect are you talking about? [emoji15]Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostTo me, this is not a small problem. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hi,
New to the forums would like some help getting me in touch with touch with KTM & get my issue resolved.
Had booked a KTM RC 390 on 3-OCT-2014 with Shreeram Motors (Bajaj/KTM) Thane by paying a booking amount of Rs 30,000/- The branch closed down due to malpractices; But I still haven't received the money or the bike to date. Tried contacting KTM & the dealer numerous times but haven't received a positive response from KTM tried mailing and contacting them numerous times via Social Media & the official routes.
Have had no communication from KTM for more than a year now. Have emailed them and getting no response back.
