Go ahead with drain - flush with water and refill. The drained coolant should be green and you should ideally get 1litre on draining (including the plastic reservoir)
If I were you, I'd also drain the oil and check.

      @pink residue
The pink was different from pink of rust.
Spend the time from opening of the service center to closing. Drained the oil and checked, no traces of water, drained the coolant and it was thick brown. The mech filled water in the coolant tank and drained it out a few times. Every time brown water. Check pic below of water drained for the 3rd time.
Finally after a few runs the water cleared. Ran on clean water for some time and the water was still good. No more leak. Opened and checked the coolant pump seals, everything looked good. Couldn't figure what caused it. The engine oil quantity had dropped. So probably engine oil leaked into the coolant. But no coolant in the engine oil.

For now changed the pump seals just in case it was a slow leak.

The mecs did not let me take pics at all. I sneaked and took the attached pic when they were away and they were super unhappy about it.

Definitely looks like a blown seal or a gasket. Am surprised they didn't check/replace the head gasket!!
If your bike is still under warranty, please email this pic to [email protected] and [email protected] and explain in brief what happened. It's not something simple and might you back again. Also maybe drain the coolant again after a few days and check

          Hi guys,

Writing again as I need some help on the accessories for my Duke 390.
          1) I'm looking for a mobile mount but don't know where/which one to go for?
          2) The KTM frame sliders. Where to get them in Pune? Are they good? Or is there any better option?

Really appreciate the help from this forum.

          Thanks!
The day I'll not ride, will be a sad day for me.

            This one I know.[emoji16] [emoji16]
            1. Mobile mount go for Strap-on types like Vibrelli phone mount. Just search for it on google. They are sturdy.
            2. For crash guard, go for the ones with long stem and thick base as they are more robust & have a higher breaking resistance. I bought the ones from Autologue Design, Pune and have even tested it with one crash @ around 50 km/hr. No problem. Looks like new. No scratches even.

              .
Something's wrong with the way your bike is being handled. I, here, suspect a blown head gasket, as a blown gasket is what causes both the engine oil and coolant to mix. It might not necessarily be pump impeller, but your head gasket might be in the first stages of giving up. Double check with them, if not, escalate the issue to KTM/Bajaj.

              Cheers!

              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

I suspected the head gasket too and wanted them to check it as well, but it was quickly dismissed saying "if it was an issue with the gasket the leak will be big and fast."

The plan now is to keep a close watch on the heating and the coolant and check it after draining it in a week. And if there are issues, escalate and go to a different service center.

                  Hi Guys.

I got very good deal on used duke 390.

its 2016 July purchased slipper clutch model. less than 3500 kms driven and the price is around 2 lac.

I need advice on the below points.

                  1. Bike is on loan(montly EMI). I am ready to give full cash in hand. the person is telling me to give the money so that he will close the loan completely and give the bike to me by transfering it.
what should i keep in mind? how to transfer the bike when on loan?

                  2. I took the test drive of new duke 390 2016 model. its damn good and faster for person whom used to 200 NS. but i was not able concentrate on how the bike's refinement and issue or anything else because i forgot everything else other than the fun at high speed when we drive 390.. Please enlighten me.

Point no. 1 is an unknown for me. But the second point is pretty much what you'd feel for the whole ownership of a 390 unless you regularly ride the proper big bikes. Every time I start the bike, I feel the vibrations and that raw and rough character. It only bothers me till I reach the bite point of the clutch, after that everything just falls into place. The only thing that remains is a grin. Ride it for a few weeks and get back on a smaller bike and you'll truly understand how much faster this pocket rocket is. In more sensible words, this ain't no Z800/cbr650f interns of refinement. But it is also not a tractor and is about as refined as we can hope for a big single to be.
                    Must ride on!

                      .
For point one, I would say ask seller to pay the loan beforehand and get a NOC from that bank. After that only make payment to seller.

For point two, check service records of the bike and check if any accidental claim has been taken.

Well I'm not sure if it's a very good deal because it needs a lot of running around.
                        1. Ask the seller to get an appointment with his lending bank for pre-closure of the loan.
                        2. Meanwhile, you get (DDs) Demand Draft(s) made for the amount discussed between yourself and the seller (no cash or card).
                        3. Both you and seller go to his lending bank together and submit the DDs to oversee the process and sign a copy of the NOC received thereafter.
                        4. Then visit RTO to get bank's hypothecation removed from the RC card.
                        5. Then apply for transfer of ownership. Submit all documents necessary and get 2 blank pages signed by the seller.
                        6. Wait for all the above to finish properly. Get the updated RC at your address and finally return the blank pages (which he signed) back to him.

This process might take a month and some good amount of running around. Are there easier ways? Yes. But this is the safest bet and the least possibility of you getting duped.
                        Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

I noticed this thing on the engine this morning. I ride to work daily on my duke 390. Is there anything to worry? What could be the cause and solution to this?

It's common on the 390's. Nothing to really worry.
You can get it fixed at your next service. They open the top valve cover and use a sealant (preferably a new gasket too) and put it back on. That will arrest that minor weep from the valve cover gasket area.
Some mechanics will try to smear the sealant from the outside -- don't let them do this.

In case they put in a new gasket do I need to pay or is it covered under warranty?
Also what if this thing comes again?
Will there be any harm to engine if it remain like this?

These issues are the only reason I'm not going for this bike. Even my enfield doesn't leak oil
