Ok what about the coolant level?Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostIt's not a proper leakage just seal got open, oil level hardly goes down.
Also, is there any way to de-tune this bike slightly? I mean, instead of 44Bhp, make it, say 40Bhp, perhaps reduce the compression in the engine to avoid wear and tear like this. Something what the Kratos 400 is meant to do.

Haven't seen coolant issues in recent batches, and detuning the bike would kill the charm of this bike. I think USP is it's power and acceleration.Originally posted by razzer View PostOk what about the coolant level?

There is nothing wrong in a little oil weep. This engine runs hot and for what it delivers, it's fine. The duke 390 post 2015 is trouble free. Neither mine not my friends vehicles have given us an trouble.Originally posted by razzer View PostOk what about the coolant level?

If you don't want to think about these issues, then the 200 is a better option.

That's lot of information bro. Thanks for your reply. I will try to follow ur way of doing things itself. It's the safest bet.. however asking sign in blank paper ... I don't know how it's going to work outOriginally posted by Divya Sharan View PostWell I'm not sure if it's a very good deal because it needs a lot of running around.
1. Ask the seller to get an appointment with his lending bank for pre-closure of the loan.
This process might take a month and some good amount of running around. Are there easier ways? Yes. But this is the safest bet and the least possibility of you getting duped.

Will there be any harm to engine if it remain like this? The weep/leak that you're referring to is so common that it's almost become a trait of the bike. If you're under the warranty period, get it replaced, the SVC shouldn't charge a penny for the replacement. Also, make sure they use a new gasket, there have been instances where guys have used reused the old gasket, only to find the leaks re-appear after a while. Insist on a new gasket. Absolutely, nothing to worry.Originally posted by rakshit rana View PostHi guys,
I noticed this thing on the engine this morning. I ride to work daily on my duke 390. Is there anything to worry? What could be the cause and solution to this?
Have done 5250 kms so far
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Btw, Has anyone done more than 50-60K kms on duke 390?
I highly doubt duke for long term reliability.

Regarding the bold part, that's just to ensure that he knows you're serious. It won't just be any blank paper. You can just take a 20 rupees stamp paper and get it signed by the notary. Don't have any text on the paper apart from notary and ask for his sign. You can let him know that it will be returned to him once the process is over.Originally posted by srisathiyan89 View PostThat's lot of information bro. Thanks for your reply. 35000 kms done.
stock brake pads replaced now.
stock clutch going strong.
rear suspension changed once.
front suspension seals and oil replaced once.
accelerator and clutch cable replaced once.
shims replaced twice.
meter console replaced once.
conset replaced twice.
engine and exhaust sounds more bass... mileage as before, 30-31 average. pick up as before, takes off after 6-7k rpm. im not in love with this bike, because of its harsh nature, but i do like it. wish for a honda... or hope new 390 is better. is twin coming up or is it new 390?I'm a responsible rider. It doesn't matter what you ride, but what matters is how you ride.

Ya biru bhayia's name skipped from my mind. Wish I could afford to tour like him on my 390 one day. Have checked ridezone.in too.Originally posted by zestbiker View PostMore than 5 excellent and compulsive motobloggers have crossed the 50k kms mark on the 390's.-ridezone.in, Biru(on many sites)to name two.
I hope I don't need to spend something extra in the coming months.
Same feelings bro. I have a soft corner for Yamaha. I'm also getting 33-35 kmpl from duke as of now.Originally posted by Legend Racer View Post35000 kms done.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
It is done under warranty.. I've had it done under warranty (new gasket+sealant) and a lot of others have too.Originally posted by rakshit rana View PostIn case they put in a new gasket do I need to pay or is it covered under warranty?

If the correct sealant (loctite grey colored sealant) is used properly along with a new gasket, it's very rare for it to reoccur.
There will be no harm, you can continue riding, Just wipe it out and keep an eye till you find time to get it fixed. The oil loss will be negligible.

It should last at least that much with regular maintenance.Originally posted by rakshit rana View PostWill do that.

Can you tell me how many bikes have you seen that cross 70k km without engine repairs? I mean even the bikes like cbz, pulsar, splendor etc.. most people end up with major repairs well before the 1 L mark. Even the cbr's aren't spared. Only very few who religiously maintain their rides end up clocking higher miles on their stock motors.
Now when you talk about a single 375cc pocket missile, don't expect it to last forever
. The life of an engine depends on the maintenance.. irregular services or one screwed up service is enough to cause problems. And another important thing is to always be around during the repairs/services and to educate yourself by reading the service manual.
I personally know a couple of guys who have clocked 30k on the 390's and still going strong and also a few 200's including myself that have crossed 25k/30k without any engine issues. Just the odd part and periodic services.

I do maintain my machines with utmost care. Have done around 75K kms on my 2010 Pulsar 220 and it still runs good. Haven't done anything major till now.Originally posted by s1d View Post

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hello Guys, yesterday my 390 got stalled while heading to office. Initially it started with rpm fluctuating from 1.5 to 4 erratically without me touching the throttle, then it started to misfire at low speeds and eventually use to shutoff completely. It use to start again for few kms then again cuts off, managed somehow to reach Ktm SVC gate and there onwards it totally failed to start, luckily had to push only for few meters :P
Cause of problem was busted Ignition Coil.
When I asked the mech is it normal to have ignition coil going kaput this early? He said when it comes to electronics cant guarantee anything..
My duke has done 31k kms and 3 years old.
I had experienced the fluctuating RPM two times before this few weeks back as it stopped immediately I was never bothered to check, so if anyone is facing problem with some misfires do get your Ignition Coil checked.
