I was thinking of getting one but don't want to modify by cutting or adding extra plates, etc.

Also, I think the leg guard of rtr 160/180 is a direct fit to fiero chassis mounts. If not, do let me know if any pipe bending is required for matching.
I was thinking of putting a new one so if this fits - I will source it.

    Any info will be appreciated

Just an update. I asked around to a few local mechs when commuting. They guessed the same. RTR guards may just fit but some cutting could be required. Heard that an enticer one could be perfect too. Sadly, none of those bikes were around or we would have measured those open guards. The search continues No word on leg/crash guards.

@ Peter - How is the work coming along? I'm guessing you have finalized what you are keeping/removing from your bike.
Ride it like you stole it! But buy your own helmet.

Engine assembly will start tomorrow or the day after. Will plonk in the engine after the 180 and 5S upgrade and ride the bike for a couple of days. Then if it's running fine will strip the bike and start with the rest of the mods. Still need to find the Pulsar front forks and disk assembly.

Chief: By the time you decide next year for a 180 upgrade, we might even have a 250 Apache
You predicted this in 2010. We are in 2016 and TVS is just about starting with the Apache 200 that too only carb and no ABS.

I ended up paying double of that but that included shipping plus an additional head (150 & 180), electric started and few other parts.

So what's the latest on the re-build? and which option did you go for?boring out the apache150 cylinder? or did you opt for the new 180's cylinder?

Assembly in progress. Went for a new 180 Bore and piston. Also got an old 180 head. However the valves are damaged so it's being reworked on the lathe.

BTW the mechanic told me the Cam and Rocker on the 180 head are same as the 150. He's not sure if both heads have the same Cams and Rockers or are they different.

Apache 150's head is similar to that of the fiero,in the sense that the bore size is similar. But the rtr's have bigger bore and hence the valves are set farther from that of the apache150/fiero.So their rockers should be different and the same goes for the cam as well i think.

Mechanic just checked from the parts catalogue. The 150, 160 & 180 have the same cams and rockers.

Also I was planning to get a complete Pulsar 1st gen front fork, wheel, and disk brake assembly. However it's not reached the scarpyard as the owner can't find the papers. My next option is the front forks of a Ambition (disk brake has been taken by someone else), Disk brake of a CBZ and alloys of a Hunk.

I stay in Marathahalli. Is there any good mechanic familiar with Fiero near this area - somewhere in whitefield, HSR, indira nagar hebbal etc would be fine? I want to get some modifications - swing arm, shocks, carburettor. Thanks

The jammed and rusted air screw had to be drilled out at the Lathe shop& then rethreaded. Once the new screw was in, we turned it 4 turns and checked for mileage with a 100ml can to find it ran for 4.7kms.
I'm especially happy that the overheating, jerking & mileage loss is solved. Bike feels smooth and happy to ride now.
The air screw in my Fiero is jammed. The mechanic says the only option is to get a new carburettor. Can you explain how I can get it resolved? Thanks

Remove the carb from the bike. Disassemble it completely and keep all the plastic and rubber parts (like float and diaphragm) aside. Now slowly boil the metal throttle body and both jets/emulsifier in lots of lime juice for a few minutes in an old vessel. All the varnish and gum will melt away. Wash it in cold water and use an old soft toothbrush and lint-free cotton cloth to clean and wipe. Wash with kerosene then oil all parts lightly with 2T oil satchet and reassemble the whole carb. You're carb will look new and your bike will run like new. As long as there is no damage/scratches/tears in the current state of your old carb.

The lime juice will free the jammed/stuck mixture control screw as well. When you said "air screw", you meant this one, right? The brass one on the LHS of the carb?
Don't force it on a lathe for now. Try this first. If it is still stuck - spray WD40 and leave overnight. Try this too first if you don't want to disassemble. All the best.

Mine was done in the lathe Bro. I strongly suggest you try the above before going for the lathe method as once the thread is damaged, you will need a new carb.

                        Hello,

                        Greetings to all.

I am starting a DIY rebuild on a Fiero tomorrow.
Bike has 1Lakh kms on the clock.

                        Goals:
                        1. Get the bike up and running
                        2. Ride it off-road

Hope to do all the work myself in a neighbourhood garage.
                        Budget: 15K
                        Got the bike for free.

                        Shall post progress here.

I humbly request your wisdom to guide me in my efforts.

                        Thank you.

                          Hey DJ,

Wow, a DIY sounds great. Fiero as you know is superb for off-roading so congrats on making the right choice. That too, you got one for free
With your 15k budget, I believe you will have to visit the 2nd hand market and junkyard a lot rather than buying new stock. But, the bike will still work well.
Do you have the bore, head and carb kept aside by the previous owner? Or do you have to source them?

                            Status on the bike:
                            - F150 engine out.
                            - A150 engine ready with 180 block and head.
                            - Awaiting A150 wiring.
                            - Pulsar disk didn't materialise as the Pulsar turned out to be a alloy wheel version.
                            - Managed to find a Pulsar spoked hub.
                            - Have checked with another scrapyard and he has promised to get a Pulsar spoked set up for 3500 (forks, disk, caliper and hoses and the front wheel)
                            - Found a scrap Victor GLX. Asked him for the tank (plan to use this as it has the aircraft type filler), swingers and the subframe with the rear footpads. He quoted 1500.

Wiring arrived yesterday. Bike was wired and started today with the stock carb and exhaust. Tomorrow the bike should be ready for a ride. After that will get a new bend pipe and jets for the carb. Once confirmed everything is running fine, the bike will be fully dismantled and sent for paint.

                                Hello guys
Sorry to bump into your discussions.
I hope the older folks here still remember me.

Visited my mech yesterday & was amazed to see my pre owned fiero there.
Was lucky enough to take a ride too.

It has an RTR head & clutch cover now, not really sure with the clutch though. Still rides like a dream as it always did.

The small 5 min ride did bring up a lot of memories, specially the talks, discussions, learnings, arguments, jokes that we've shared on the previous pages of this forum.
Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.
