    No alterations to this right?

So is this an additional hole you need to make next to the original hole or do you just increase the original hole.

So we just have to increase the dia to 26 mm right?

The diagram shows the expansion chamber ends into the megaphone and there is a baffle plate and end cap with pieces of pipe. Are these 26mm pipes just welded to the baffle plates and end cap respectively or is it a continuous 26mm pipe running from the end of the expansion chamber till the end cap?
No alterations to the expansion chamber.

Yes,you need to make a additional hole to the baffle and it will be like "bigger the better".Like an oval one.The stock hole in the baffle is at a side and it is a short pipe and you should not alter this.

Yes,in the end-cap you have to put a new straight(as opposed to slanted in stock) end-pipe which has a dia of 26mm. The length it protrudes, into the silencer, will decide on back-pressure/flow velocity.Longer it is,more back-pressure/flow velocity will be more.Conversely,if this pipe is short and wide, then the beat will be loud, deep and also with less flow velocity. So you have to try different lengths and come to a length which suits your taste in terms of loudness/bass. What i've seen is,when the end-pipe is bigger than 26mm dia,it will become very loud and the bike will start missing in low revs, meaning carb will be needing re-jetting,as flow velocity will drop.So you would have to increase the flow by going for a free-flow air filter, which i did not want to do back then.Ofcourse this missing happened when the bend-pipe was the stock fiero's narrow one.I haven't altered the end-pipe since i changed the bend-pipe, to the current 32mm one. So 26mm end-pipe will be ideal with a 28.5mm bend-pipe or 32mm one.End-pipe should be narrower than the bend-pipe in order to increase the flow velocity.

Expansion chamber ends ,then after a gap,the baffle plate will be there and it will have small pipe. Then after another gap the end cap will be there, with it's end-pipe. Meaning, all these will have separate small pipes and they won't be connected.

@ DJ 666 Thanks for the awesome contribution DJ. You took a lot of time to document those with pictures. Cheers
Your motocraft page is great too. Wish you the best in that endeavour.

@ Gixxer And also gixxer's explanation in regards to the exhaust mod needs to be appreciated too
I can only imagine how quick your bike is. Would love to see it in action.
Ride it like you stole it! But buy your own helmet.

Wow! Surprised to see the thread still active! Few people r still talking about the decade old bike! I thought I am the only person on the planet riding a Fiero.

Came in search of topic how to convert the cdi to tci. What i understand is I only need to change tci unit green one of rtr 180 and coil.
Pls correct me if i m wrong.
I m at Chandigarh and unfortunately no body knows much about this bike here. I m totally dependent on u guys.

With a heavy heart I sold my Fiero a few days back. My Mom and I will always remember that bike fondly.

                  I told you.

Anyway the painting is just done barring a few small bits like the wheel hubs etc.

The clear coat was done today. Looks even better now. Will be taking it to the mechanic for assembly in the morning as the clear coat was still wet.

BTW can you tell me again what the ideal sprocket size should be after the engine mod? And which bikes sprockets to use.

                              Front,14t gb sprocket , yes.

Get the stock fiero chain sprocket set which will have the 39t rear sprocket and instead of the stock 13t gb sprocket get a 14t one.Spare stores usually oblige.

Apache main-jet on 26mm carb will make the bike missfire on high revs, meaning it will feel like hitting the rev-limiter and the bike will never perform to the full. This is because the stock 26mm carb can't flow properly with rtr180 main jet. So ,instead you would have to install the rtr160's 105 size main-jet and it will make the bike perform. But what's needed is 29mm carb and bigger bend-pipe to enjoy the real potential of the set-up.
