    1. Plastic used under the seat is flimsy UNLIKE ACTIVA'S HARD PLASTIC

    2. Again the front section is whole plastic

    3. A digital cluster would have been like cherry on the cake

Yes, Jupiter is not having Full metal body like Wego

As you correctly said, a Digital cluster (when they can fit one on the wego why not Jupiter??) and some other features like Combi breaking system, side stand indicator etc would have been nice and it may attract more buyers, especially those who are trying to look into Hero Maestro or Duet or Gusto etc...!!

      2. The Front Panel Being plastic isnt really a negetive. most of the scoots have it. Wego has full metal body though.
Yes the Analogue console is boring, but quality of plastics used and switch gear is awesome.

Re: TVS Jupiter Ridden and Reviewed

        Hi,
This is a small update for my Jupiter which is done recently. As the km raked up very quickly, there is a need to change the rear tyre. The tyre went bald and it just slips in every given opportunity, also I was enjoying the rear stepping out under heavy braking. The rear will squeal under wot in the areas (normally roads with bends have some sand in India) where I take a 90 degree right turn on the way to my office. Sometimes scary and sometimes addictive. I enjoyed a lot.

My wife also rides the Jup, so for safety concerns there is an immediate need for change of tyre. I searched for michelin and found none, and other foreign brands too. No one had it for the Jup.

MRF, TVS and Ceat had the size but TVS tyres had two varieties of which I hated the OE rubber and selected their new launch called TVS Dragon, sounds terrific, IMHO. The pattern also looked nice and I decided to give it a go.

After running in bald tyre, the new tyre blew me with its excellent grip. Whatever the surface, how wide you open the throttle or how hard you brake, it didn't even have a hint of losing grip. The tyre have transformed the Jup to a better braking and handling machine. The power from the engine was put down on road in a very effective manner say there is notable pull in wot which was not present earlier.
After 1000km, still the grip is good and rewards me as new as it is. I am happily cutting corners, braking late and wot.

Hi thanks for the update. How much did that tire cost?

The tire costed me around Rs. 1300 including tube. It is tube type.

Re: TVS Jupiter Owners Review and Experience

Ownership Review of my TVS Jupiter : Dawn of a new beginning.

Date acquired : 9th September, 2015 (Ask me this when I'm asleep, who forgets the date they got their first vehicle!)

              Kilometers clocked : 4125 kms.

Major issues : None as of now. *touchwood*

Average : 48 kms per litre.

Name given : Flash. Probably because of the fact that at that time, I was watching Flash the TV show, and I was loving every bit of it. Apart from that, Jupiter isn't a slouch.

              1. The decision : Dad had a good old Bajaj chetak which had run its course. We needed a practical update. A two wheeler which could fulfil the practical needs and provides some fun when the inner enthusiast demands. About two months before the purchase date, uncle got himself a TVS Jupiter. Though not often, but I rode that a couple of times. Large boot space, external fuel filling, large wheels and huge floorboard screamed practicality. While the large wheels, telescopic front forks and a peppy motor guaranteed the fun.
Shortlisted TVS Wego, Suzuki Swish and Jupiter of course. TVS Wego was ruled out because of the unavailability of the disc brake variant. Swish, because of the comparatively low fuel economy. Jupiter was finalized then.
I know I know, many of you might be thinking why not the proven Honda Activa. Well, the reasons were many. It was more common on the roads than the item numbers in bollywood movies these days. The spring loaded hydraulic suspension upfront robbed it of the comfort. Smaller wheels were taking a toll on its handling ability and the extra features offered as compared to Jupiter were none.
Got the scoot in the most attractive color available at that time, which was titanium grey.

              2. Design and looks : First things first, it isn't something that would turn heads or make you look twice when you park it. It's decent, sober and masculine. The matte grey color do gives it some glamor. Large front cowl, turn indicators integrated in the front fairing, LED tail lamps, 3D nomenclature on the side fairing, black inserts on the side fairing are the main talking points on the design front. And oh, those large wheels with black painted alloys look spectacular. It's something which would suit uncles perfectly, but won't disappoint the young lads too. The stallion brown, matte grey and matte blue are some cool color schemes Jupiter comes with.

              3. Engine and performance : It comes with segment standard 109 cc, 4 stroke, air cooled engine which pumps out around 7.8 bhp at 7500 rpm and 8.83 nm of torque at 5500 rpm. The performance figures aren't something to write home about. But it's the way the power is delivered. You will feel like riding a normal gearless scooter upto 40 km/h. But the surge above 40 km/h is quite good, not neck snapping though* which is too far a thing for a gearless scooter. The surge lasts till 65 km/h or so. But even after that, it doesn't run out of breath. It pulls cleanly till 85 km/h which is the best I've seen on the speedometer. And the remarkable thing is, the engine doesn't stress out even on the upper spectrum of the speedometer. It can comfortably cruise at around 65 km/h all day long, if you're thinking to take it on highways for a weekend getaway. Maneuvering in the city traffic is effortless, as you just need a twist of the throttle to zoom past the traffic. It cuts through the traffic easily, thanks to the peppy motor and able handling.

              4. Ride and handling : I was serious about the able handler thing. I needed something which could do more than just transport me from one place to another. The inner enthusiast was craving for a scooter which could handle well. This is where the Jupiter doesn't disappoint at all. It carves out corners with ease, maintains its line in the mid corner, probably because the large wheels and telescopic front suspension. It isn't something which would encourage you to touch your knees down while cornering, but honestly, I did scrape the main stand twice while cornering on ghats. No no, it isn't a flaw, it's a compliment about how good the handling is. It cuts through the traffic with ease, which makes it a good scooter for city purpose. The TVS tyres hold well under hard braking. Though the brakes could've been more sharp. I recommend all the readers to apply both the brakes all the time. It will prevent the rear wheel from sliding.
About the ride, plush is the word. The telescopic front fork and gas charged rear suspension does their job perfectly to soak the bumps which our mighty indian roads throw at it. It just flies over potholes. The comfy seat does the job well to prevent the back of the rider from the impact of the bumps.

Special mention to the exhaust note. Though it's noisy in the speeds south of 40 km/h, but after that, whack the throttle open and it'll produce a throaty sound. Which comes as a surprise. In terms of looks, the exhaust looks good too.

              5. Switchgear and other features : Switchgear is pretty well laid out, and great in build quality. It oozes out premiumness. The self start and the horn switches are colored in red and yellow respectively, just like the Wego.
It does come with pilot lamps which look cool and a pass switch integrated with the high beam and low beam switch. It comes handy while overtaking and *feminist alert* to throw the light on gorgeous ladies while maneuvering in the market. Though the headlight is segment standard (35/35w), it could've been better. If you're a night owl, I suggest you to bump up the watts.
Other features include large underseat storage (17 litres), external fuel fill, mobile charger in the underseat storage and a power and economy mode indicator. It's based upon the throttle input, be gentle with the throttle and the green light (economy mode) will stay on, whack the throttle hard and orange light will come on indicating power mode. Though it's advised to remain in the economy mode if you want to extract better mileage. But who doesn't want some fun with the wrist? *winks*

              6. Average : Now come the most important part according to a typical indian. "Kitna deti hai" (Deti hai to de, warna kat le, in the case of Chetan Bhagat.) My daily route to the college comprises of 60 % highway roads and the rest 40 % city roads with medium and heavy traffic. Though the company claims an optimistic figure of 62 km/ per litre but it translates to 48 km / per litre in real life conditions. That isn't bad at all.

              7. Niggles : So far, I haven't faced any major issue. Though there was this annoying noise from front suspension whenever it came through a speedbreaker.
Turned out it was just the brake wire rubbing against the metal ring which held it in its place. Sorted it out with a jugaad.

              8. Conclusion : So far, so good. The hunt for a practical scooter which doesn't compromise on the fun factor ended with the Jupiter. And the 6 months spent with Flash have been very good. It introduced me to the thrill of riding a two wheeler, which I wanted to experience from years. It has delivered on every front I've expected it to. The only requirement which it hasn't fulfilled it yet, is calming down my wanderlust. Looking forward for a ride to Jaipur. I hope it turns out well, and Flash delivers on that front too. From a simple city commuter to a mile muncher, I want Flash to transform itself in that way.

My better half ride our Jupiter, but I have to take care of services, even remotely. it came our home on 1.1.2015. We tried to have all the mentioned service on time (kms was less compared to time) but we missed 3rd & 5th service, coz the service is an apathy in case of TVS. Secondly it is too far from home, so when you know you wont get anything except washing as service, you wont bother for servicing at all. And to name TVS Thane (Ashwini Motors) service is worst to say the least.

Anyway, at the end Sept 2015 I did the engine oil top, and ODO was around 2000 kms. When should again the engine oil be completely changed or top up? It is mentioned in Service Manual (but till 5 services only).

At present Odo is at 3648, and engine oil top up was dome 6 months ago. I am thinking of sending it for a service to a local garage...Shall I or Should I wait for some more days?

And what service should I ask him to do beside engine oil change, Greasing of chains, brake & clutch check ups?

I'm new to this forum as well as new to bikes. After reading so many good words for Jupiter, I have made up my mind to get it. As I told I am new towards this and even don't know driving, I would like to have your suggestions for any one going to have his first bike.

                  Thanks!!

You can go ahead with the it. Its a nice bike for City rides. But please speak to newer owners and find out if the suspension problem is solved. Otherwise go ahead!

I see you dont ride your bike often. And you have already lost the Svc and hence the warranty claim. Any ways, just change engine oil every 2500 kms. Do make sure the oil is genuine. After 1 year, you need to change the spark plug and Air filter. Its an absolute low maintenance scooter, so you will face no issue. By the way I have done more than 17000 kms till now. And the scoot is still going strong.

                        Hi Friends,

Guess even now I am eligible to be a proud owner of TVS Jupiter:

Here is the thread link on how i purchased my TVS Jupiter:

And this is the email sent to TVS Jupiters Facebook Page and Email ID about the problem which I am facing in my new TVS Jupiter:

                        Dear TVS Jupiter Customer Care,
I am very disappointed with the purchase of my TVS Jupiter. I never expected it to give such a major problem in the first days itself. On 12 May 2016 I Purchased TVS Jupiter from Sathya Motors, Chennai. I found two issues as of now:
                        1) The Front brake lever does not fully return to its position after we release the brakes. This can cause unnecessary braking during running.
                        2) The Vehicle is overheating. This is my biggest concern. My office is 25 kms one way and I drove to Office as instructed in the Manual at a speed of 40-45 Kmph. After reaching Office I found that the engine has become extremely hot and even the plastic inside the dicky, the carburetor cover and the whole luggage space was hot. This seems to be a serious issue. I am driving vehicles from the past 15 years and have basic understanding of motors, still would like to leave this to the expert people, that is you the TVS company itself.
I want this overheating problem to be rectified on a priority basis or get a reply from you that Overheating is normal in TVS Jupiter and I need not worry about it.

TVS Jupiter had established itself as a popular name and I would urge the Management to take this positively and ensure that we people who put our hard earned money on the Vehicle get the best quality product and that the whole Dealer Service Network is updated with the latest technology and skills required to attend to the Vehicle. Please take this feedback and provide a suitable solution so that all future customers of TVS Jupiter get quality product. This feedback may please be passed to the R&D Team at TVS for their investigation.

                        Thanks

Also I am looking at changing the twin pilot lamps to LED lamps like this

Rudra Automobiles RA-28Ledw 28 SMD LED T10 Parking Indicator Socket Light (White, 12V): Amazon.in: Car & Motorbike

So would like to know whether TVS Jupitor Twin Lamps are the T10 type ones? The brochure doesnt tell anything about the type of Lamp or electrical specs of twin city lamps.

Received response from Facebook page and they have taken my no and told they will get back to me. Awaiting reply from TVS. Lets see how it goes.
                        K.Ravi

Do check out my custom painted tail light in my DIY thread ;) ...

for 1) i think you might be missing a spring or the brakes/drum assy might require a cleanup/light lubing. i had a similar sticky rear brake on my dio when it was new, turns out the spring on the rear was missing causing the lever to not return to its fully released position. probably due to the svc's carelessness.. because i saw them pulling off that spring from another activa to install it on my dio
                          2) the under seat storage area does get hot (from my experience with the dio/activa's), though i wouldn't call it 'over heating'. But anyway do have it checked (engine oil levels and if the fan is running)

Thanks for all your replies. But i would like to mention that I had a bad experience of dealing with Hero Honda Service Centre in Maharashtra and had complained to Hero Honda, after which I got immediate attention to my problems.

If I would have just walked into the TVS Showroom with my problem there is possibility that it would just have been attended by some amateur mechanic who uses his own instincts and might have given me some shitty reply. I wanted this issue to be looked at from an experts viewpoint. The facebook page of TVS Jupiter is very prompt. Monday whole Chennai was closed due to elections. Tuesday (17/5/16) morning I received a call from Dealer the chief workshop supervisor spoke with me and told me to bring the bike, I told that since i am in office i will bring bike while returning home, so that when i will reach the service centre the bike would have done 25 kms and they would get to inspect the bike's status at that position. He told he had delegated the job to chief mechanic and asked me to ask for chief mechanic. Reached service centre at 06:10 and asked for chief mechanic, the chief mechanic came and prepared a gatepass and told that he will check the vitals. I asked will i need to take the bike the next day, he told no, he will check right away and also rectify the brake lever issue. Waited for half hour while he did the job. He told that all bike is ok, and it is normal heating and nothing to worry. I got relieved as i can now depend on the bike and also plan to drive the bike for long drives (120-150 km one way) after setting the engine in after 2-3 K kms. Also the brake lever got rectified.

Following is the status of engine heating:
Till now four times i have gone 25 kms and returned and this is the heating status everytime
15 May - Hot weather - 05:00 PM - Underseat space too hot and since it was first time i got scared
15 May - Night Time - 10:00 PM - Underseat space was little hot, less than the first time.
17 May - Driving in full rains - cool weather - Morn 08:00 AM - Underseat space was little hot / very less hot
17 May - Driving in drizzle - cool weather - Eve 06:00 PM - Underseat space was little hot / very less hot

So as i am driving more the heating is getting less. But I need to once drive the bike 25kms in hot weather and then see the boot heating status, which will give an idea of whether is this related to climate changes or not.

I dont know what they did but they rectified the brake lever issue. Nowadays SVC have become too secret, even for a minor issue they take bike inside the workshop wherein public is not allowed and then fix the issue and come back, whether they change the cable and bill you if its old bike or just adjust the cable nobody knows. This is what i hate about the SVC / Service Centre's Carelessness. Our new bike may be the 10th bike of the day for them, but for us its our hard earned money and a bike which we can rely on. They are actually supposed to give sufficient time to every new bike and do a through checking might as well keep a checklist of the PDC (Pre Delivery Checkup) , but all they do is some careless cleaning fixing here and there and deliver to customer.

Request to all Jupiter Owners to post pics or procedure of the following if they DIY or see a mechanic doing it:

                                1) Opening and accessing the battery

                                2) Opening and replacing the Pilot Twin Lamps

                                3) Opening and replacing the Horn

I want to know the above three procedures.

                                Thanks
