Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2014 version)
In Karnataka, stocks are almost over. Total under 50 units remaining. Nobody buying, dealers offering 14K discount per unit.
But I believe Hero is updating the Karizma, not permanently closing it. But very tight lipped about it. An experienced sales manager told that it might take upto a year till we hear a news on Karizma twins.

Yeah I hope that hero brings karizma brand back with a bang. I want hero to remain top manufacturer of our country. Seems like they are working on various motorcycles in premium segment. Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2012 version)
Hello Guys. Last month I bought an used Zmr from the year 2012 from a distant friend as he has shifted to Mumbai for job. It ran 50000 kms and so I got it a a very cheap price of under 40k. The body is fine with only minor scratches. The engine is very smooth. Now definitely being a used bike it has some minor issues like the bike gets heated up quickly- shall I change some cooling liquid?...the the handle seems to be little inclined toward right if unhandled while running- Can I repair it?... back light is operating for indicator and rear brake bu not with hand brake....What should be ideal cost to repair/replace these problems. Also it would be great if someone from kolkata can refer a mechanic/service center in north kolkata who can repair a zmr well. Address or phone number would do.

ZMR is an air cooled engined bike, so the only coolant here is the engine oil. Change it to any of the available 10w40/20w40 engine oils and get the valve clearances set. Both inlet and exhaust valves must be set at 0.1 mm using a feeler gauge.
For the handle turning right, if there hasn't been an accident, get the cone set and stem inspected and replace the cone set if needed. Change the fork oil too. Additionally, you can get the forks inspected for bends. Forks = front shock absorbers.
Maintain 29/33 psi in front/rear tires.
For the front brake not lighting up the tail lamp, change the brake lever and brake switch.
You'll spend roughly 2000 all inclusive with labour.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2012 version)
Hello there,
I was also planning for a ZMR and wanted your opinion on:
1. Pillion Comfort- Specially for ladies.
2. Headlight- Bright enough?, Can I install projectors on this or a mere bulb replacement will do?
3. Touring Capability- 90-100 Km/hr for 8 hours?
4. Speedo- Gear Position Indicator is present or not?
5. Saddle- Comfy enough for the tours?
Thanks in advance.

1. Pillion comfort is decent. Legs don't fold abruptly unlike other bikes and the seat is fairly large.Originally posted by themachine View PostHello there,

2. Stock headlamps suck. They are 35w hs1/h4 bulbs on 2009-14 models. You can put 55w Osram/Philips bulbs (Night Breaker/Xtreme Vision series) directly. It's plug and play. Battery isn't affected if there's no other electrical jugaad on the bike.
3. It can do 90-100 kmph all day long. Just use the right oil, keep the air filter and sprockets clean and use good fuel.
4. Gear indicator is not present. AFAIK, only Suzuki GS150R had it when talking about desi mopeds.
5. Saddle is comfy enough. You can add gel seats if you wish. But ensure that you don't make the seat too soft. Else they won't provide support over long durations.
6. Ground clearance is a healthy 159mm (pre facelift model only). Apache RTR has 164mm for comparison. Nothing to worry for a good rider even on rough roads.
EDIT - Version 2 has 145 mm GC.Last edited by Divya Sharan; 11-02-2016, 10:17 AM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Thanks for detailing the specs..
I only have one confusion and one query:-
Confusion:
The Hero website and bikedekho app all say that Karizma has 145 mm ground clearance. What is your source on that?
Query :
If I end up buying Karizma I will definitely upgrade 55w Osram or Philips. And I will also be going to install SHOT mobile charger on the bike.
Will that require Some modifications on the battery front?

Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2012 version)
Please confirm the ground clearance of the bike. I am concerned about that only as it is quoted to be 145 mm only (2014 model). And I have to go through some really high speed breakers.Last edited by Divya Sharan; 11-02-2016, 10:15 AM.

Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2014 version)
My ZMR's rear wheel isn't spinning freely if I put it on main stand and spin it manually then it spins just a little and always gets stuck at the same point and from that point I need to put more pressure to move the wheel. If I am moving the bike in neutral or 1st gear then sometimes I hear a loud metal rubbing like noise coming from the rear also at high speeds the rear wheel doesn't feel very stable. I went to svc to get it fixed but they only tightened and lubed the chain and did the regular servicing and nothing else. I will go to svc for a second time but I am not really confident on the mech's abilities as I watched him struggle to open the side panel for air filter replacement. Any ideas what could be wrong with the bike ? Are the rear brake pads dragging the wheel ?
