Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2014 version)
Very well put together. A complete short review. I do not know why when we post a review of bike and compare to some other bike we post that we are not against that bike. Come on we like some bike then we will write for that bike, as it is human tendency that he will speak of that which he likes. I also feel that the new ZMR just looks very good when viewed personally. I am also little old school as i like big motors with huge amounts of torque. I will any day like Ford Mustang over Nissan GTR for that huge engine. Similarly i like the ZMR over R15 and CBR 150 because they need to be revved hard to get performance and what the use of power when you do not have the torque to twist the rear. Yes the exhaust note is little deeper, even the new extreme has a more bassier tone than my extreme. Nothing is late, as still if some one is looking at that price range for touring then there is no competition to speak of. Moreover the brilliant mileage, low cost of maintenance and more service center than most companies put together seals the deal. When you are accustomed to ride a 150 cc bike be it commuters or sports bike, the first time you ride a ZMR then you are hit by the torque wave which leaves you thinking. Now coming to the new ZMR then let me tell a funny incident. Last saturday when i had gone to Home, then i was standing at traffic and two guys(college kids riding bikes with dads money) came and stood by the side of me. One was on a pulsar 180 and other a new ZMR 2014 model and both bikes were new without number plates. Of course the donkeys had no helmet. Both the guys were also thin most probably weighing at 60 kgs or even less. When the traffic signal changes, the pulsar guy gassed. Seeing him the ZMR guy also opens the throttle and with FI response and torque the rear wheel did a mini burnout and then the bike pulled ahead and the guy got perplexed and hit a ACTIVA and both fell down. Was sad to see the new shining black ZMR scratched and was angry as parents give big bikes to such amateurs.Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostPhoto of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2014 version)
It depends on how we maintain itOriginally posted by dineshaugustin View Postthe life span for sprocket is 22k..?? hw much is for HUNK. i have completed 26k on my HUNK and never changed sprocket /chain so far.
I am just assuming i will have to change.. havent had a look at it.. after this recent ride. I havent checked the condition.. i havent touched my Black Pearl much since i came back. Got my salary credited so i will change the air filter, spark plugs and other minor things which need to be changed.
By the way. My Hunk back in Chennai has completed 40000 kms and the bike is from the very first slot of hunks which landed in the showrooms back in 2008.. havent changed the sprockets til now. Recently changed the rear tire and the clutch plates..
For DS he is still running on stock sprockets on his zmr and i believe he has completed more than 50000.. not sure if he has changed them recently..
I have completed 40000 recently.. my bike history is pretty crazy out of mind and confusing..
did some sprocket mods blah blah..
usually the part that comes with stocked on the bike last longer, not sure why but it happens.. the first sprocket for me would have lasted 30000 but I did some modifications and that sprocket lasted only for 8000 kms and there was uneven wear and tear and hence I had to change the sprockets at 18000 kms...

ohhh.....then i have probably long way to go....but in my friends pulsar, they are changing it in around 10k-20K. i guess thats where hero stands out.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostIt depends on how we maintain it

Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2014 version)
Ever wondered why the spare parts of Hero Products are costlier? and at the same time, ever wondered why the Genuine Hero Spares don't wear out that easily?Originally posted by dineshaugustin View Postohhh.....then i have probably long way to go....but in my friends pulsar, they are changing it in around 10k-20K. i guess thats where hero stands out.
Sprockets come with the chain.. its the entire chain assembly.. I used P220's 36 T rear sprocket Bajaj Genuine Product and it lasted only for 8000 kms and few teeth broke off.. the stock front sprocket could have lasted for longer duration but I changed the entire kit..Originally posted by dineshaugustin View Postalso i thinks it is always better to change sprocket and chain together....just like changing rear and front tyres.?
I purchased the entire sprocket kit of Bajaj as they don't give the rear sprocket separately.. everything else was of no use.. the chain is also short compared to the Stock Karizma/ZMR sprockets..

Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2014 version)
but normal servicing cost is very less compared to other brands like yamaha. Eg for chain lube yamaha charges Rs.150 while hero charges Rs 60 in chennai.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostEver wondered why the spare parts of Hero Products are costlier? and at the same time, ever wondered why the Genuine Hero Spares don't wear out that easily?
spares also i dint find much difference ....i feel hero is bit less cost, but not as TVS though.

well.. I used to own a Bajaj P180 and the spares cost me less.. but the wear and tear of the spares were much less than what I had to do with my Karizma..Originally posted by dineshaugustin View Postbut normal servicing cost is very less compared to other brands like yamaha. not sure about other brands these days as I haven't owned anything other than Hero Products other than Bajaj which i had a very bad experience with..
Yamaha on the other hand might be using a proper chain lube (assuming) compared to what Hero does Hero uses Engine Oil to lube the chains..
Here in New Delhi - NCR, we get the Chain tightened and lubed for free from Hero Service
atleast for me they do it
I never left my Karizma for service in ASC after having a bad experience. I knew a Mechanic in Saidapet who was an expert with the Karizma..
P.S. I still haven't got any information about the sprockets.
P.P.S. I still haven't got to know how to reach the batteries on the new ZMR..
Owners.. where are youuuu??

Since you would not take typo/auto correct as an excuse, (small) p is "inverted" (small) b and vice versa.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostWait a second..
