    Hello guys,

Is there a fix to keep dry me left handle bar switch panel..? When i moderate to heavy rain, water gets inside the switch panel and its causing my system to go high beam without my interaction. From my initial findings I think water provides the medium to short circuit "pass" switch terminals and blue color high beam indicator light appear on my instrument panel as well.

Earlier i thought this is because of sand and water getting into handle bar socket connection to the body. then i secured the plug with some durable polythene and insulin tape. last night cleaned components inside the switch and secured H4/HS1 female socket going to bulb by polythene and insulin tape. but during today's morning rain this issue again came and its annoying me.

    any help is appreciated.
    Cheers.

PS: I have Gixxer SF FI version.

Thanks to @icarious for the info

Time for an Update Gentlemen: ECSTAR R5000 Mineral oil has been launched @335 INR along with ECSTAR Chain Cleaner and Lube (2 in 1) @664 INR
My Advice: Ignore the Chain cleaner and lube, take a look into R5000 if you want. Motul mineral might get discontinued.

      Note:
Look at the image of the bike on the label of R5000, its the Gixxer SF

You can use a bike cover to protect it form rain, but that only works when the bike is parked. If you ride when its raining, there is nothing to prevent the water from seeping through. The most recommended solution to this problem is buy a can of WD40 from a shop that sells high end bike accessories, if you can't find it in a shop, order it online on Amazon.
A medium size can of WD40 will cost you about 220 Rs. It is a spray that you can use on your switch gear and even key holes. The WD40 prevents rusting, expels water and does not allow water to accumulate on the metal parts. So whenever you feel that it is about to rain spray a little WD40 on both switch gear, keyhole on the lock and the fuel tank lock. It will ensure that the rust formed due to previous water seepage is cleared and new rust is not formed. You will need to spray it once every 2 months so a medium sized bottle lasts really long time and you don't have to worry about covers or anything. The WD40 can also be used on central locks on gates that rust due to rains and on anything that is sealed and needs protection from rusts (Normal locks, etc).
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Yes thanks a bunch for your kind reply brother. I bought a WD 40 Silicon Spray can and about to collect it tomorrow. I saw few videos on youtube that is a good way to prevent my issue from happening. I will surely provide a feedback after applying this so others will get notify about the remedy of this issue.

            Cheers bro.

              Cheers bro.
Happy to help brother. For best results spray a little on the switch gear and then click the high beam-low beam button about 15-20 times. Then click the indicator button to left then in and then right and then in for about 15 times each. Repeat the same with other side as well. Remember to keep the bike off during this. You will instantly notice the buttons getting a nice clicking sound just like when they are new. Do not overspray, as soon as you find the WD40 seeping from the bottom of the switchgear, stop spraying and start clicking the buttons to remove the rust. Repeat the same with Keyholes of the bike, spray a little then insert the key and turn on and off several times.

Use this method just as the rains are about to start and one time spray will protect you from a full season of monsoons. If it rains all year round at your place use the spray every two months. Make sure that the bike is completely dry and spray according to the above method.

Freely use the spray on anything that is sealed and needs rust removal (old locks, central locks on doors, almiras and drawers etc). Remember not to spray it near flame or fire as it is inflammable.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

I approached service centre once after two weeks & once at 1st service. The technicians were not able to bring the braking proper, though there is freeplay in the brake pedal. The brake seems to apply after 7 seconds after continuous braking, then also no effective braking. I feel like that I need to stand on brake, even this won't apply brake as effective as the front brake.
I fear for driving over 45kmph due to ineffective rear disc braking in order to control the motorcycle. The technician too told that this is a Nissin's faulty disc brake system installed at the rear. Though the front one is of Bybre which is as the disc brake should be.

It is posing a serious life threat & Suzuki should replace/recall/resolute the issue as soon as possible. I can't comment on other Gixxers with rear disc as maybe I only could be having this issue, but the company should take the matter very seriously.

Anyhow I will be approaching the company in a day or two.
                  Hi,
I am also facing the same issue kindly share as how were you able to solve the issue.

Hello brother. I've been a previous casual Unicorn user as well. But the weight as too much so was the height. I assume you have a good physique. Suzuki Gixxer is my dream bike and I've ridden it a couple of times. Great experience. I borrow my friend's Gixxer whenever I can. Pretty sure I've done about 2000kms on it. First of all, people underestimate the servicing. They say it's greatly overpriced but it's not so. If you live in a good and accessible city, you should have no issues. The charges are cheaper than servicing Honda and Yamaha bikes like FZ & Hornet.

About the bike, it's fairly light weight as compared to Unicorn, about 15kgs lighter. It's nimble, agile, rev happy and offers good braking feedback.

It's a fun riding experience, mostly because the MRF tyres make you feel safe on the Gixxer. Unicorn's thin tyres have been subject to a lot of experiences in accidents and slips on wet surfaces for my elder brother who owns it. He plans on trading it for an Xteme 200.

Heyy guys! As I went to change the brake pads of my bike at the SVC! They guy told me front is for some 350 rupees and rear is 1000+ bucks. Seriously? I feel it too overpriced. I changed the front brake pad only.
Now my question is is there any other alternative for the rear brake pad apart from Suzuki genuine parts? The rear brake is a nissin unit. Have anyone tried bajaj or hondas rear brake pads? Do they fit? And their cost? Because I find the Suzuki's pricing for the rear brake pad to be too much.

                              Thanking you in advance

The difference in the prices of the brake pads for front and rear is a common thing. I have seen similar price difference in the brake pads for R3. Owners who have spent a long time with their bikes can throw some more light on it and might provide you with some accurate prices. If you have another authorized service center in your city, you can also check the prices there and see if they match.

You can check aftermarket brake pads online, but make sure that they are manufactured specifically for your bike only (Gixxer). Do not try to do Indian Jugaad and put any other brake pad on your bike. It may lead to serious injury to both you and the bike. Brakes are one of the most essential parts of your bike, do not compromise with them just for the sake of saving few rupees. Your life and safety is worth much more..
                                Ride safe brother.
