Thanks . This was a surprising turn!! I was hoping for some fightback, haha. In either case this is a good read:
      Motorcycle Oils vs. Automotive Oils

Few years ago when I switched to this oil, I'd read something similar just on some different site that I can't seem to find any more.

Haha. The oil war on xbhp has claimed many posts. Basically what I remember is that car oils are ok as long as they don't contain friction modifiers which can cause motorcycle clutches to slip.

You can also use Shell Rimula HDEO if the grades match. Apparently this truck oil is loved by many Busa and ZX14R owners, as well as many rat bike owners. Seniors on xbhp recommend this too. [emoji57]

You are speaking from years of experience and with a lot more bikes that I have. I simply cannot refute that xD

            Cheers mate

Guys I'm planning to buy Gixxer, confused between Read drum vs Gixxer SP i.e Rear Disc brake variant. The test ride I took was on Rear Disc variant and I didnt find the rear disc to be too effective in braking like front disc, also there was no tyre locking in rear disc. Might be because of the brake settings, but is there anyone on this thread who faces issues with rear disc ? What do you guys suggest w.r.t Indian Roads and Traffic. ?

This is common with everyone. If you go through the posts out here and the Gixxer SF thread you will know. From what I heard, Suzuki deliberately adjusted the rear disc in that way to prevent the wheel from locking up. You can imagine the effects if the rear was in par with the front given this bike doesn't have ABS either. The rear brake in any case is there to 'stabilise' the bike and not to bring it to a complete halt. The front disc has decent bite; so practising engine braking along with the rear and the front will help you for optimal braking. Practise makes perfect. Its more crucial to practise how fast you can reach from 100 to 0 which can save your life than 0 to 100.

Here is my response to the Gixxer SF thread :

Go for the rear disc: Disc much less headache than a drum - maintaining it is more or less same like front one. You answered it yourself - it is set to give a mild retardation force and prevent locking up of the rear tyre. Rear disc tolerate our conditions well.

                      I own a gixxer sp
Rear brake is pretty good and has some serious byte...
but on hard braking rear wheel locks up easily and starts skidding.....
                      but i don't know why.....
even when the bike is skidding....
i didn't lose the control of the bike at all....
im very confident about the front ones.....
they are super and sheds enough power to make the bike to a halt.....
even the front brake saved me from a deathly accident while rear wheel skidded on hard braking and the rear wheel was lifted off with a pillion rider at that incident

Verdict: rear disc cannot be trusted....on hard braking do try only front ones...rear gets locked up very easily (80 - 90% chance )

Did anyone changed the stock bulb to any other halogen bulb like one of Osrams?

Is there any improvement in the light ?
