  • Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155

Anyone tried fitting clear lens indicator in the old Gixxer with yellow tinted indicator lens? Showroom people said Rs 70 per lens at first, but now saying it won't fit properly so need to buy whole indicator assembly.

    2) anyone tried converting Gixxer to Gixxer SF?? What's the cost of the parts all total, does fabricating the front part even with a millimetre of fault ruin the whole stability of the bike??

16 k is too much, they are quoting the price including the chassis, and I want clear lens on indicators(lane changers), the tail lamp assembly price is same here in Kharagpur.[emoji18]

You mean the indicator lens right? Yes they will fit. The Entire indicator assembly is teh same meaning shape and size. Just remove the Amber lens and replace it with the clear lens. If you ask me, I would just leave it as it is. Unless you were replacing the indicators with LED ones dont change the lens just for aesthetic purposes.

Yellow lens are of no use in daylight. Lens of any colour other than white blocks light emission, the only reason even taillights are white now a days. Even bharatbenz trucks use all white lens lamps.[emoji2]

Suzuki manual says engine oil to be filled 850 ml with old filter and 950 ml with new filter. Is this correct. Do everyone follow the same.

My moron mechqnic poured 850 ml with a new filter, and maintained to the level mark. Is this safe?

                      Am using motul 7100

Always change the oil filter whenever you pour in new/fresh oil. It costs 42 rupees only. And it's better to use 1L oil than 950 ml. In your case top up if necessary, use center stand and check oil level after 30 minutes and refill with the same oil and grade.[emoji2]

900 ml is anyday better than 1000 ml, if the recommended quantity is 950ml. People go pouring in excess than recommended quantity and later end up facing issues like oil leakages, gasket failures and what not.

Why would Suzuki recommend 950ml specifically instead of 1000ml?
Quantity manufacturer recommends is always the maximum capacity engine can accommodate.

Pouring a little less gives you room to top up if required. Always ensuring the oil level stays between Min and max is what is key.

                          Cheers

Been topping up to 1000ml from day 1. Bike has done 15k kms. Called up Suzuki and asked them 900 or 1000. Answer was 1000, unfortunately no recording.

Till now no visible leaks, gasket failures or anything else. Having extra oil is not the cause for aforementioned problems.

It would have been great, if you had asked them as to why did Suzuki not recommend 1000ml in the manual instead and reported the answer here.

Would like to see you do some research on this and check which practice is not the right one.

As I said earlier, pouring less gives you room for top up if required.

15k Kms is rather early and/or you have been lucky so far.

Finally, your understanding on excess oil usage not being a cause of oil seals and gaskets failures is wrong my friend. Again some research helps.

                              Cheers

Oil leak only happens if 1L is poured without changing the oil filter. I've done 11k till now, serviced only in SVC as I've taken the 5year warranty, they've always poured 1L and changed the filter everytime.
