    Congrats.

Hope your city riding is easy with gixxer. I'd say scooters are actual work horses lol

    Update: at 13 000 + KM odo

Finished recent trip to Horsely Hills to beat the heat. Missed some grunt that I used to get from my RTR 180 on long rides. Any recommendation on a tall wind screen? The bike's smooth but wind blast makes it fit only for city rides. Will be upgrading to a bigger bike with wind protection and get a scooter for city usage so until then I need wind protection if I may want to go on highways before upgrading.

Bike does well in rain but no feedback from front brake in rain/ wet. It locks up abruptly and there's a lot of front fork dive. No engine related problems and also ran an extra 860 km from a service interval, which didn't make any difference to the ride at all. Nice engine quality.

The fibre panels on the tail section are losing paint, prolly weather? I expect the same on handlebar and tank in a few months. Thank goodness I do not have stickering that may peal.

    Thanks.

How are cluthcless downshifts? I would recommend clutchless upshifts between 6000 - 8000 rpm for all gears excluding 1st to 2nd.

Please tell me the problems you faced with aprilia SR 150 since I'm about to add a scooter to my garage and it will be helpful?
Clutchless upshifts and downshifts worked seamlessly at any rpm above 4000.

    Regarding the aprilia sr150 -
Yes it is fun to ride, but at the expense of 'peace of mind'. A scooter is supposed to be a reliable companion which will never let you down. It should be easy to maintain. This scooter is anything but that. I'll list out its generic problems -
    - engine oil accumulates a lot of soot in a short period of time. Signs of a badly made engine.
    - gearbox is lethargic from 0-40. All the other scooters, even the 100cc scooters are quicker off the line. Sr150 has been geared tall which is plain stupidity. Nobody wants to hit top speeds on this thing.
    - engine starting problem. Doesn't always start at 1st crank. Also has idling problems.
    - rear brakes are non existent. The braking from the rear feels like Friction between wood and cheese.
    - ride quality is plain harsh. It's a stupid work by aprilia. Even a small pebble on the road is felt. Nobody gonna take this scooter to mmrt or buddh to break lap records. This kind of bone jarring ride Quality will only break the scooter and rider.
    - spares and services. This is hopeless. They don't even have a basic air filter in Stock. They are forced to convince you that they have cleaned the filter and it's enough. Air filter used here is paper type and it's common sense that nobody can clean it.
    - my scooter was lying in the svc for about 2 weeks. I gave the aprilia regional manager a piece of my mind and grabbed a standby scooter till the new engine arrived. After a few conversations, he had no option but to compensate. He offered me 100% free maintenance for 4yrs and additional 4yrs warranty. But I didn't wanna waste my time cuz I knew for sure that this scooter will develop new diseases.
    - Headlights are so weak that it seems like they've placed a candle in instead of bulb.
    - engine at certain rpm at the bottom end makes some peculiar tappet sounds. It's just a matter of time that the engines gives up.
    - this is just a glorified toy from aprilia. Not meant to be used for utility and functionality.
    - nobody will notice these things with a test ride. It comes from distressed ownership. I made a mistake buying it and very soon got rid of it. Just trying to save a few people from the horror.
    - this is definitely not a scooter which you can keep for years together.

Gixxer is very easy to ride around in the city. Gobbles of low and mid range grunt. Smooth engine and light bike overall.
No scooter again. I recently recovered from an aprilia sr150 horror story.

I have no idea about windscreen for gixxer, but I'm sure you can slightly modify and bolt on Frazer windscreen.

gearbox is little hard that from 1st to 2nd, neutral comes in now and then so I dont use clutchless upshifts for that gear change alone. Not that its a problem but needs a harder push from my foot. There might be an improvement in newer models. But this hardness makes the gears fall in place with assurance. I don't ride it like a scooter slotting it in 5th gear as it will increase the wear, i avoid lugging at any cost. Some ride it at 30 kmph in 5th and also at 95 kmph in 5th which is plain laziness and troublesome to both the bike and the rider through the course of ownership.

My my you have nothing but problems with aprilia. I had vespa in my mind and people told the service in chennai is good. I avoided it due to the price as its overpriced for my usage. But now I'm gonna avoid it because of what youve said too. Access or hero duet works for me.

the bike is designed with good driveability but after riding bikes in city, esp in hot weather conditions, poor roads and with troublesome traffic rules and cops, I feel scooter or a car is the best bet for city.

nice pics thanks. They might be tall but are they fucntional? I think as a tall person, i must fit and try couple other options too. Is there buffeting at highway speeds? Or just yet, I'll avoid going on highways till i get a comfortable upgrade.

          Thanks all for your suggestions.

I would suggest you to change the riding position with the windshield. Windshield will not be of much use if the rider is sitting wide and upright. Need to lower the handlebars and get rearsets. The combination of these things will work. Suzuki anyway designed this bike to be a street bike. Converting this to Sf shouldn't be much of an issue. One thing to keep in mind is that a faired bike is more vulnerable to cross winds.

sf's seating posture is no different. I knew it made no sense over gixxer naked. It was launched around the same time I got my gixxer and thats why i didnt go for it. Its windshield is of no use in giving protection against wind blast. I wouldn't spend money in modifying the seating to a sporty version since I'll be buying a sporty one in future. I'll just tolerate the wind or keep away from long rides.

              Thanks.

The taller one in the second picture helped a lot in avoiding fatigue due to windblast. I'm 6' tall and it was tall enough. No buffeting/buzziness/vibration etc.

I like to keep my bikes in Stock condition. Just removed the saree guard from gixxer as it served no purpose.
The one thing I need in my gixxer is better Headlight. Even the low beam is getting scattered everywhere except on the road. Anyone else having the same issue?. I'm looking at installing a powerful led bulb, but beam angle and spread is my main concern.

I'm also looking at avenger's windscreen. Where did you get the second one from?

saree guard is part of the stock :P

Anyway, you can adjust headlight angle using the bolt under the headlight, also mentioned clearly in the manual with picture. For lighting, check lighting thread.

Some users have added 55/60 W lights without the need of relays in the past but since its bs4 model with AHO, just consult a mechanic whether there needs to be some change in order to protect battery.

Manual says when changing oil with new oil filter 950 ml is required, and 850 ml when the old filter is used. Doeas anybody knw how mch to fill when using new engine oil filter?

My mechanic poured 850 ml with a new filter installed, but not as per manual. Does anyone know the correct one

                                Problem!

I had a visitor today who wanted to take my bike for a short commute. The bike was in rest for 4 days and today when he started, it started leaking fuel through the overflow tube and somehow the kick starter worked. I put the carb in off, let him ride, when the bike ran out of fuel from the fuel tube, I put the carb back on and let it ride. When returning the bike stopped and we tried to switch off carb and do the same. It didn't work. This time even the kick starter didnt work. We pushed the vehicle back home for a km and since then it's leaking fuel whenever I put carb in on position and try kick or thumb starting. The bike won't start.

This happened previously during 2016 diwali and the technique worked. Today, it worked only once and on return trip it didn't. My visitor accidentally rolled the throttle while starting like he used to do with the old bikes and that was the only visible prick for me.

I have extended warranty but how do I take my bike to service station when it's not starting. Duh!

The fuel leaked so much it came down to E from more than half the tank. Hence I'm keeping the carb off.

Kindly help me get rid of this problem!
