So i believe service manual should be circulated among base customers.
Let's call it leaking, I don't think manufacturers release service-manuals publicly for new products, except for very premium and super costly special editions.

Per my experience, service manuals popped up in Spanish language GS150R & FZ16-S. So, if GiXXeR-155 is released in Spanish speaking countries then we've a high probability of finding the service-manual over internet soon.

Recently I found GW250(Inazuma)'s service-manual from a Netherlands' host in proper English. Apparently Europeans are more liberal.

I dont know about service manuals but i think in some countries it is compulsoray to provide complete spareparts/parts manual of the automobile they are selling.Example you can get complete european part manual of KTM DUKE125/200 and also i found FOR Bajaj Chetak, HERO HONDA CD-100(SPANISH) when it comes to tractors i found for FARMTRAC 45.All those automobiles are mae in india and sold in other countries. And when it comes to our country no manufacture bothers to provide the spare parts manual. forget about the service manual.I think even a spare parts manual is really helpfyl for our DIY.But a service manual would be wonderfull and ya i think the service manuals which we got hold till now are leaked, not released.

I am trying to test the average of the bike. Filled in 12 litres when the tank was completely empty. Now i have done almost 350kms and the fuel indicator shows one blinking bar.
The fuel knob has 3 options, on-off-reserve. Just wanted to know that while the knob is at on, will the fuel from the reserve tank be utilized? Or will the bike stop working as soon as the oil in the main tank finishes up ?

Total tank capacity = 12 liters
          Reserve capacity = 2.4 liters
Off is completely OFF, no fuel will come of out of fuel fuel knob.
On - refer above figure, it will take fuel in the tank until its level i.e, green line.
The fuel capacity below green line is reserve capacity.
if the petrol level is below green line petrol will not come to your carburetor when the fuel knob is in ON position.
You have to shift to reserve position which takes fuel till the bottom of the tank.

            • Gixxer engine stalling while idling and break-in period.

              Hi,
I bought the Gixxer finally! I have been using it for a couple of days (crossed 800km just now). Yesterday, I was riding it on very congested marketplace. It was so crowded that I couldn't (in fact no one could) get my feet off the ground .. for like half an hour. And during the same time I faced an issue - my bike started stalling ... means not while running but when it's idling or just about to roll. I was riding (rather crawling) through it on just 2nd gear. Now I am worried that I might have damaged the engine by giving it a lot of load. I was riding solo. This is my first bike, I have been riding for 15-16 years now but that was my father's bike and he took care of it all. Although, I'm a smooth rider, I don't think riding it in that low gear was any smoother. My bikes still in break-in period. ( I'll be taking it to first ever service tomorrow.) Please, let me know if it's really normal or I did something wrong or what should I do to avoid damaging engine.

Hello Folks! I'm a newbie here to post, but I have been hanging around here ever since I decided to buy my first bike. I must sincerely admit that the forums on xbhp have helped me a to zero-in on one particular bike. Fz FI and Gixxer were my two options. But finally booked Gixxer yesterday. I went for Metallic Triton Blue. I am happy and just waiting for the one month waiting period to pass by soon. Happy

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                            THE END

                              Hi Guys!

Newbie here same as Manu!!! And just like him have shortlisted the FZ FI and Gixxer. Will be booking mostly the gixxer in a week's time. This thread and xbhp as a whole has been amazingly helpful over the past year for me!
                              So...Cheers to you all!!

As for the question on chains, yes the Gixxer has O-ring chains...but i dont understand why they decided to use O-ring on a low capacity motorcycle. O-rings generally have more mechanical friction, and cause a drag on the engine reducing FE, hence generally used on high performance machines, because of their tough nature and longer lasting life.

A normal chain would have served the gixxer better i feel9better FE due to less friction), because its easier to lube and maintain a regular chain than a O-ring, as in a O-ring its tough to lube under the roller, which is the main part.

For further info...plzzzz check out this video. Really helpful.

See parts of a chain and learn where the critical surfaces are for maintenance to lower friction and motion resistance, get maximum performance and long serv...

Overall guys, really wondering why an O-ring was used. Maybe iam wrong. Would really love to discuss more on this!

                              Cheers!

Once warmed up, O-Ring chains are no different than conventional chains; even better as lube is locked inside but thrown out in case conventional chains.

We've to dig up any study[ies] done on effect of chain-clean & lubes on the O-Rings specifically. I think there are some.

I wonder why open-chain cover is adopted when dust/water are clear enemies of O-Ring chains. Perhaps, closed chain cover kills the naked looks of the motorcycle.
