  • Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155

    Hi Guys,

So glad that Gixxer is impressing a lot of people... It is genuinely a very good bike in its current segment.

    This just happened today morning:

Was driving to office today at around 10:30am when I was stopped by a traffic police man near KR Puram bus stand; I was totally relaxed since I knew all the papers are intact and I did not abuse any traffic rules. Got out of the bike to ask why I was stopped -- His response: Whats the name of the bike? Looks good! Thinking of purchasing one for myself; Whats the On-road price? How about mileage? How about service? Pickup? Speed? Vibrations, Comfort? I.WAS.SPEECHLESS! Then I started explaining him about certain things few other bus drivers nearby joined and were checking the bike. I seriously did not expect this to happen! I mean, to be as subtle as possible I purchased the black one..... I have no idea what would have happened if I had a blue or a red!

I did not even realise that its been a month since I have got the bike until I received continuous messages and calls from Suzuki showroom indicating that the bike is due for its 1st service! Not even a slight change in performance or handling so far from the bike after close to 900 kms.

Also did not expect the thread to grow this long within 4weeks! Hats off to everyone who has been helping out!

cruising at 85 to 95 kmph without strain? You guys are tempting me so much to book the Gixxer now

I just wanna wait a few more days and see the new Honda 160 cc before making a decision.

Yup, I can vouch for that claim too! Actually I have been a little harsh with my bike now in the last week on highways riding a little more than 80-90kmph for about 2-3mins; It just eases through without any hiccups or strains.

Believe it or not I have been waiting for that damned 160cc from Honda for nearly 18months now! I was waiting for that Streetfire(released in Indonesia 18months back) last year and to my astonishment Honda released a less powerful CB Trigger in India last year..... I did not want Honda to ruin another 6months for me by releasing a less powerful bike and thats the reason I went ahead with Gixxer.

Also my guess is that Honda is in some pickle now since every single moment they delay they know that there is gonna be another bike on the block that is gonna eat up its sales in the form of Gixxer/FZ v2.0!

i also believe Honda will leave out one or the other important feature while keeping the price higher than the rest!!

I dont think Honda will do that, instead my guess will be cheaper aesthetics with different versions like how CB Trigger was released! Now after riding Gixxer I hope Suzuki had an option like that for Discs.... Man, what I would give for those dual discs!

does anybody feel that gixxer's throttle is oversensitive? i often find even a slight twisting of throttle results in sudden rpm increase. its not a problem and over the period i may get adapted to it, but anybody have same feeling?

That is what Honda did so far with their 150 cc bikes! Using the same Unicorn engine to bring out new models like Dazzler, Trigger etc with minor changes and cheap switch gear which all failed inspite of having a gem of an engine. This is mainly because something or the other was poor and I never saw them market Trigger(Suzuki is doing a good job with marketing the Gixxer)

This new Honda launching next month is a different engine altogether confirmed by someone senior in Honda India! So I kinda get a feeling that they are taking it serious this time with their upcoming 160 cc. Another 30 day maximum for us to know.

Until then Gixxer, wait for me baby :P

At least Xtreme, Dazzler, Hunk, Impulse, Unicorn and Trigger shares the same 57.3 x 57.8 mm bore x stroke engine and gear box.

As stated by me earlier. Pillion comfort is average. If you buy, be ready to hear complaints from your pillion(s). The bike is peaceful to ride with no vibes at all. Handling is great and cornerning at high speeds has never felt soo good. Cutting through traffic is a breeze too.

Many are eagerly waiting for the launch of Honda 160cc bike (me too waiting before zeroing on Gixxer), but i don't think it will be launched for sale next month.
I mean it will be only a unveil.
The Gixxer was unveiled on feb 8th 2014 AUTO EXPO and it has undergone extensive testing for around 5-6 months before its launch for sale.

We still haven't seen any spy pics of Honda 160 bike any where, so i highly doubt it will be for sale in next month.

In addition to this, MRF tyres are really good which helps the bike even better...Haven't ridden in wet conditions yet... But dry conditions, they are very good.. I think they are soft compound tyres...

None of the Japanese bike makers test their bikes here in India! All of them design and test them in Japan. That's the reason you don't find any spy pics of premium Suzuki, Yamaha or Honda bikes. The Gixxer when it was unveiled in Auto expo has already completed testing in Japan (the only red colored spy picture was intentionally leaked). I am sure you wouldn't have seen any spy pictures of the Trigger or FZ few months before their launch. They are designed and tested in Japan and then locally manufactured in India to keep the costs low.

It cannot be soft compound tyres macha! Soft compound wear out too quickly. For a commuter bike it should most likely be medium compound or somewhere in between soft and medium compound to ensure longevity of treads/tyres.
