punarvasu - We're all glad that you're out here to help fellow members and save people from trying out foolish experiments on their bikes. Also, you've mentioned that one must follow the manual only. But it would be nice if you choose your words nicely. Nobody on the forum is a moron, first thing! Secondly, people do play with AFR settings. And that does vary the mileage.
If you do not believe in a certain approach; it doesn't mean that the one who follows it is a moron.
I saw some really harsh use of words from your end a couple of pages back. Request you keep a check on it.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

cmon dude. of course i did not mean it to hurt anyone's sentiments. it was just to to stress on the importance of keeping a new machine away from incompetent mechanics.Originally posted by devils_friendBro, think before you post comments with such words in it.
Cheerz!!
for i certainly know what road side mech's with their half brain and alien assumptions can do on a bike of which they might not even know a-b-c of.

by any chance or indeed you are a member in Hifivision with same handle and DP.

i run with the same handle too."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Thanks for the reply! Definitelt was not planning ANY DIY on my bike.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postfor every carb there is a IDLE screw and AFR screw. and all and any carb can be and has to be tuned. now coming back to chennai vs bangalore . dont make any changes. unless you need to hit altitude above 9000 ft. also "NO" the company will not tune the batches of bike as per the city or area. they will stay consistent.
finish the run it and let a few services go( a few thousand km's) for the engine to properly set in before trying any DIY and don't get the bike inspected/serviced at a local mech unless its emergency.
Was just asking if it could be a possibility.
Also, vehicle manufacturers usually, tune the engine to operate at S.T.P. For eg- 28-25 Celsius and from sea level to 1000m above sea level.
Anyway thanks for the response. Now i just dont know what on earth i will have to do to stay patient till the first week of november. Thats a WHOLE 7-10 DAYS AWAY!!!!!!

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
hello friends, let me tell u the amazing story of me and my gixxer (still ye to be) :P
so first of all , i booked black gixxer as soon as i arrived in pune(14th oct), and asked for delivery date on 28th oct, but since we had not yet taken a flat, documents were incomplete, then they asked for registered rental agreement, which was not possible in our case, so after a lot of tension and seeking here nd there, i found out that if i take the bike form chinchwaad (pune suburb), i do not have to produce that document, so i booked 'blue' gixxer form one showroom here, he promised to give delivery on 28th oct.
now yesterday i went with all my documents and full payment, but he told that trucks are struck in MP border and etc etc, only grey and red are available now, nd blue and black is not available. he said he willl give me delivery after 10th november, i had no option so i said ok,
..after reaching home i searched for suzuki dealer in chinchwad and called them up, he said u can come nd take immediate delivery of 'black' gixxer, so i went there toay dn submitted my documents, made full payment in cash (85030 rs) including number plates, saree guard, crash guard, teflon coating, now i will take the delivery on 26 oct.
ufffff...so many hurdles for gixxy...now it better prove worth of all this..:P

ankur..
Its a great bike.. I bought a blue one on 21st this month!!.. Was asked to ride around 45 k rpm until first servicing which is totally cruel because this one always asks for more.. I think the Saree guard is little too low in case you are riding double it bumps on the speed breakers if you are not dead slow.. Ride comfort , handling is awesome.. And you will love this beast even more when people looks at it with lusty eyes

Guys, let's not call that thing a 'Saree Guard', since it does not has a 'foot rest'. How would a lady wearing a saree be seated? A full/functional saree guard is not even available as an option at the ASS (are you listening Suzuki)?
I also want to get a new bike. If not concerned about the 'saree guard' I'd have bought it (Gixxer) by now. Now, I also want to have a look at Honda's 160cc offering and also TVS's new Apache 180.

Its the same for other new bikes too. Saree guards with no foot rest.
Btw its ASC not ASS though they behave like an ass sometimes 😉. Lets not embarrassingly confuse the two. LOL

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Same with my pulsar 180 Saree guard. Still, several people have welded or bolted the foot rest on the Saree guard to have the required functionality. Check if the same is possible with it. Don't miss out on a good bike simply due to a saree guard.. BTW, love the gixxer a lot simply due to its looks...

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
It is the case with most sports bikes that how they are designed AFAIK.The foot rest is a standard part in commuter segment.I would advice you to go ahead with this bike if saree guard is your only issue. As regards Honda 160 there is no clue as to when they plan to announce/launch they need to announce start production and get to market minimum 6-8 months wait time for sure.If you are in no hurry you can wait but there is so surety it will come soon.Think and take a call
