Problem!

I had a visitor today who wanted to take my bike for a short commute. The bike was in rest for 4 days and today when he started, it started leaking fuel through the overflow tube and somehow the kick starter worked. I put the carb in off, let him ride, when the bike ran out of fuel from the fuel tube, I put the carb back on and let it ride. When returning the bike stopped and we tried to switch off carb and do the same. It didn't work. This time even the kick starter didnt work. We pushed the vehicle back home for a km and since then it's leaking fuel whenever I put carb in on position and try kick or thumb starting. The bike won't start.

This happened previously during 2016 diwali and the technique worked. Today, it worked only once and on return trip it didn't. My visitor accidentally rolled the throttle while starting like he used to do with the old bikes and that was the only visible prick for me.

I have extended warranty but how do I take my bike to service station when it's not starting. Duh!

The fuel leaked so much it came down to E from more than half the tank. Hence I'm keeping the carb off.

Kindly help me get rid of this problem!

Faced the same issue on the highway. But mine was a different situation. I had been riding with minimal throttle input at around 80-85 kmph for around 45kms. When I stopped, I noticed the overflow pipe leaking petrol. Immediately tapped the carb float chamber with a stone lightly (CD100 experience). Still didn't stop.

I then started the bike and ripped it through the gears for around 2kms, and it stopped. Never happened since then.

Try tapping the float bowl lightly with a stone/screwdriver/pliers and see if that helps.

Have you tried using the choke?

Yes, tried all troubleshooting. The choke pushes out more fuel only.

Manual says when changing oil with new oil filter 950 ml is required, and 850 ml when the old filter is used. Doeas anybody knw how mch to fill when using new engine oil filter?

My mechanic poured 850 ml with a new filter installed, but not as per manual. Does anyone know the correct one

Get it towed, either bike-bike or find a trailer.

Engine will start when the leakage stops. It needs a certain level of fuel on float bowl to mix with air. Remove the carb and open float bowl which is the under part. There is a valve which controls fuel flow to the carb namely float valve which may be stuck and need cleaning or replacement. Thats it! This usually happens due to gummy or old fuel.
