Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
850 ml for just an oil change. 950 ml (850+100) for oil and oil filter change. For the GS/Gixxer, extra 100 ml (approximately one tea cup - the one we get in trainsOriginally posted by devils_friend View PostYou sure only 850ml is required? What does the manual say?
) whenever filter too is changed.
But since amount of drained oil depends on various factors like how hot the oil was during draining, etc, one has to always check the level once the job is done.
I have personally seen guys at SMK, Porur measure 950 ml in a big transparent mug and not simply empty a 1L can, but still level check is important.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi there folks!
Just recently moved from Bangalore to Mumbai.
Was wondering if anyone can suggest a good/trustworthy Suzuki service centre here. Please keep it to Bandra and Andheri. I doubt I can travel further 😞
Also, would you suggest switching my number plate from KA to MH?

Chain Assembly -> ( Part. No 27600-30H40-132 ) ( Rs. 576 ) ( Sealed O-Ring )
Drive Sprocket -> ( Part. No 27511-30H10-000 ) ( Rs. 311 ) ( aka Front/Engine Sprocket ) ( 15 Teeth )
Driven Sprocket -> ( Part. No 64511-34J10-000 ) ( Rs. 399 ) ( aka Rear Sprocket ) ( 45 Teeth )
Total Cost -> Rs. 1286/-.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Right . Actually you need not bother about oil volume at all ever , unless you are at a shop buying itOriginally posted by ashwanth.r View Post850 ml for just an oil change. 950 ml (850+100) for oil and oil filter change. Fill oil by the marked level ( view-hole or dipstick ) which is always on the engine . Maintain oil to this mark always . That is all there is to it .
Always soak a new oil filter in fresh oil for an hour or so before fitting , no need to fill any extra oil .
The OP already said that he's got these as extra spare to keep , not for present use . And brother if you quote a whole post with pics and all included , the thread becomes so difficult to read & follow for all . Please edit out all irrelevant part when quoting .Originally posted by Dynamo View PostHave you changed those sprockets ? What is current ODO ? Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I stay in Bandra & I used to get my bike serviced at Dolphin Suzuki in Saki Naka. However I am not satisfied with their service & now I'll be trying the following:Originally posted by radikel View PostHi there folks!

1. Kiran Suzuki (Goregaon)
2. Kaveri Suzuki (Kandivli)
Both are having good technicians as I have given my bike there for chain lube/repair work & they have done a good job. They are open on Sundays also so you can get your bike serviced under your supervision.
Also if you are going to stay in Mumbai for a long time then you may get your vehicle registered with MH number plate.
However for Mumbai limit you will have to pay octroi which is a cess that has to be paid to Bombay Municipal Corporation for bringing any goods within city limits.

I see you mentioned SMK showroom. Do you service your bike there? I did my 4 free service there, they didn't really do a good job. Now tried 5th in Maya Suzuki, Adyar have mixed feeling. However this is the first iam hearing of paying a cess on bringing goods here.
Kindly explain to me what I have to do once my bike reaches dadar..

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
No buddy, I just visit SMK to buy commonly replaced parts like oil filter, air filter, o-rings, brake pads and some nuts and bolts. I have a GS. SMK has the best (relative to ABT, Jain, JAV, and others, have not tried Maya) collection of spares, and most importantly give to you without much questioning/hesitation. I did only 4-5 services in SVCs (ABT and JAV), broke my warranty because I overslept the day I should have taken my GSOriginally posted by uchun View PostI see you mentioned SMK showroom. to one of the "coupon services" and now doing the basic servicing myself. SMK really had a good name for servicing among GS owners.
What exact problem is still un-rectified in your Gixxer? Why the dissatisfaction with SVCs, if I may ask?
If the SVC route is not working for you, my advice will be to settle with a good local mechanic (but many guys will have a dilemma of whether or not to break the warranty) - or - go the DIY route if interested. If a person can repair an Unicorn, Splendor, CBZ or FZ, such a good local mechanic will easily be able to carry out all the basic repairs/maintenance on a Gixxer.Last edited by ashwanth.r; 05-29-2016, 09:48 PM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
The problem with smk is I could clearly see then never addressed any issues I put forth. It's easy to know once you take a ride after their "service". All they do is clean the bike and put some polish on top. I remember quoting them my issues like check the braking, gearbox is quirky etc. All were untouched 😬. I'll check to see if there are any Yamaha mechanics around ecr. Thanks for your help.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostNo buddy, I just visit SMK to buy commonly replaced parts like oil filter, air filter, o-rings, brake pads and some nuts and bolts. Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
You are spot-on. The service at SVCs is nothing but cleaning, changing the oil and applying a white (this looked like the bathroom cleaning liquid of the 1980s) fluid which they called "polish". This liquid was oily and the worst thing is they polish the front disc too leaving it with near-zero braking power. If they are in the mood, they will mostly mal-adjust your clutch setting with zero free play.Originally posted by uchun View PostThe problem with smk is I could clearly see then never addressed any issues I put forth. I see you are on the ECR. SMK is too far and the roads leading to it are full of craters. You have not tried ABT?
Front Brake: A mild intermittent squeak is okay. When you wash your vehicle, spray a jet of water in that tiny gap between pads and disc - this will remove any dust/sand particles. I usually wash the disc with soap water, allow the foam to work around by rotating the tyre and rinse the whole set-up - this almost always restores braking power at front as it removes most of the oily contamination. Glazed pads will also contribute to slightly less braking power on the front. The system is self- adjusting and we can't do much (loosen/tighten it).
Rear Brakes: The drum-brake lining tends to get contaminated with water (during rains), rust and brake dust. Needs to be cleaned every 3000 kms atleast to retain that mild complementary braking power at rear.
Gearbox: A tight dry chain and lots of freeplay in clutch cable will lead to shifting difficulties. A very loose chain will lead to a cluncky gear shift. You can clean and lube the chain yourself every 500 kms using aerosol cans or if you prefer kerosene/diesel + gear box oil combo. The SVC can't do much here - but most of them tend to overtight the chain and spoil the clutch cable freeplay.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Met with a small accident. One FZ guy came wrong side in a turning and hit me head on.
Though we both fell down escaped without any injuries.
But afterwards i noticed that handle alignment is wrong. Now to go strait i have to keep the handle to right side.
Can this issue be easily rectified by SVC? Gixxie is due for 1st service next week.
