Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hello folks! I have been following this thread since long. And is confused between hornet and gixxer for my first bike at the moment. I have a query. as I have been reading over net, the bike's bottom scratches on speed bumbs while with a pillion. And then, I read the remedy is to up the suspension by one level. Does that solve the problem completely? or does the problem persist?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I don't know why people are saying so because its been 10 months and i have ridden over rough terrains with my Gixxy.. Never did such happen... I will ONCE.. I repeat ONCE... The bottom scraped when i went over a deep pothole as i didn't see it... It was a deep one and any motorbike would get scraped if it went through it..Originally posted by hisham2k9 View PostHello folks! I have been following this thread since long. Regarding Hornet.. Its a good bike.. But the Gixxer is torqier than it.. See the Zigwheels review of Gixxer vs Hornet..
At the end its upto you.. Both are good bikes.. But if it was me i would choose Gixxer over Hornet.. The missing engine kill switch, the not-so-aggressive looks and the low torqier engine of Hornet is the deal breaker for me..

Like I've told you before, you don't actually have to make any change to the wiring but you don't know when it will backfire as the rating is different. So consult a mechanic right away. Try going to GP road in Chennai where you'll find lots of shops.
This is B.S.Originally posted by hisham2k9 View PostHello folks! I have been following this thread since long. And is confused between hornet and gixxer for my first bike at the moment. I don't know how people read only what someone has rarely complained about and stick to it. I know right, it's just a petty fear we all have when we buy a bike.
It needn't be just one level. If the rider and pillion weigh 100 kg then it has to be 2 or 3 more levels stiffer. But then did you know suzuki has offered skid plate?
But do not think it's because of this issue. It's offered as a style accessory which also complements protection. I've been riding it over abnormal speed bumps and as an exception my bike came with a factory fitted suspension level 2. Stock setting should be 3. Even then with heavy pillion, I've never scraped anything. You can see the roads that I go through almost daily on my motovlog channel in youtube to which I've provided a link a couple of posts before.
Also watch Autocar India's comparison between Honda Unicorn and Suzuki gixxer. The reviewer deliberately rides the gixxer on bad roads and it's filmed. Anyway that's just to show it's stable on bad roads. Nothing more.
Gixxer is the most city friendly 150cc bike and it's very ride-able without much gearshifts unlike hornet or other bikes.
P.S: I switched my suspension to level 3, which is supposed to be the stock setting, only a week back and that was after 7 months of using it with all kinds of pillion on bad roads. No scratch or anything. Pillion riders should sit with weight favoring the front side...meaning that, with a little forward lean.
