Hi guys, I am from Chennai. My gixxer is almost 4 months old. Recently I started feeling Vibes from engine.. It was very high that I could feel it at the handle bar. I couldn't drive continuously for more than mins.. Just shifted to shell adv ultra FS oil today.. Will it help reducing the vibes? My hands are paining due to the vibes in handle bar.. Also can anyone suggest some nice handle grip?

      3. It's good to know that you reside at Kovilambakkam. So let me start off by saying that OMS suzuki is better compared to all others in the area. I bought my bike elsewhere but I service it at OMS, not because their service is exceptional, but just that they have courteous personnel. That's like giving you a better purchasing experience and service experience than all other showrooms in and around the place.

Now let me come to the remaining list,

      1. She is not my wife. I am not married. She is not my girlfriend either. She is a petite girl, well, having the built of an average Indian girl, my team mate at work. I spent pretty long hours on my bike with her as my pillion. The very first thing she told me was this, "wow, cool bike. I find your bike very comfortable. I love the ride!". She was an amazing pillion and gripped the bike so well with her legs - well that's a tip; it works well for the pillion when he/she grips the bike properly. And the rest is relative to you and your wife. Take her on a test ride. Do not go for Honda Hornet. Instead, go for RTR 200 4V which has relatively lower pillion seat and is now very refined and also more powerful. This is just my view.

      2. It is possible to take the saddle height little higher. Only way is to visit a good lining shop and ask the shopkeeper to increase the front seat height with good quality cushion. But you know? It will spoil the whole riding experience. You will not experience the bike as it is. It will only hurt your back. This bike can be so much fun! And there is no way to make your wife feel that she is sitting lower. It was funny to see pillions on FZ and gixxer next to each other. On gixxer, it's like the pillion sits higher but also has his legs stretched downward on the footrest at a comfortable angle. On FZ, the seat height is lower and also the pillion's knees have tighter angle.

An extra suggestion. From my experience and friends circle, the dual tone gixxer has poor quality paint job on the side panels. They tend to fade away quicker. The matte grey color on the single tone ones stays longer. It's your wish and preference in the end. Just saying, though.

      Hey,

You're welcome. Do spend a lot of time on the forum but just look for what you want. Otherwise, it's easy to get confused.

Regarding the blipping part, well, I don't mind explaining it in person but I am on mobile device now and it's very hard to navigate and find the particular page in that large thread. Do not see too many videos about blipping too. It's highly confusing. Not all mention the trick involved in it.

I suggested phillips because they work well and I have seen it first hand on my friends' bike as I've mentioned earlier. They're reliable.

I do not modify my bike and so I do not know any good shop which can do that. Hence, I am not suggesting you anything about it. When I'm in need of anything I will have to find people who know how to fix things for the good. Seek and you shall find, is all that I can say.

Do not go to service station to ask for a change in headlight. I am not sure about the bike's warranty getting void by changing the headlight or adding a relay but I'm pretty sure that the battery's warranty will become null and void. It might be a hindrance when you have any problem with the battery in the future. They will point out whatever you've done with the electrical part of the bike as a reason, lame, but valid from business point of view.

      Cheers.

It would be good if you switch back to Suzuki's engine oil.. Motul i mean.. I don't have much knowledge but most of the local mechanics here say to stick with what the manufacturer gives.. That ensures better performance of the bike.. Rather than switching to others.. I got this reply when i asked if i could change the engine oil to Castrol or any other good one..

Soft rubber grips for handle bars.. I don't know whether am exaggerating things here.. But I do feel some vibrations which was not there earlier.. It makes me uncomfortable while riding..

I too wanted them.. In the beginning my skin under the hands turned hard!😂 well that was due to my fault.. But many of my friends said not to put them.. You can put if you want.. They provide xtra comfort.. But put them after changing the engine oil.. If vibrations continue.. Which i dont expect from such a smooth bike!

P.S.- try riding a Apache and then ride your bike.. I'm pretty sure you wont feel vibes anymore on your bike..[emoji13]

                  Hi everyone,

I just completed the last of my free services with only 6K on the ODO. The service adviser was quite adamant in persuading me to buy extended warranty. So my question is: Is the extended warranty useful? I keep my bikes in good condition with proper servicing at correct intervals. I currently own two other bikes since 2002 with almost a lac kms and they run beautifully till date. Do I need extended warranty? (They are quoting 800 bucks).

                  Another query:
Since a few days it has been really cold and chilly where I live. Since then my Gixxer needs a little warm up (it jerks at low throttle for a km or so) after which the engine frees up. Is this a fault or improper carb setting? Do I need to show the bike to the SVC? I did not raise this issue at the time of service since I do not want them to fiddle with the stock carb set up. SVCs in Jabalpur really suck big time. Is there anything I can do by myself?

If you service your bike properly on time then only you will be eligible to claim your extended warranty if anything happens to your bikr. Hence as you service your bike properly you should opt for extended warranty. Those who don't service after each 3 months should not go for extended warranty. Because if anything happens the service center will say that as you missed the servicing of bike, you cannot claim your warranty.
Regarding your second query, if the temperature is low, thats a normal thing. Don't mess up with carburettor.

Its good to have extended warranty.. My SVC says when the regular warranty will be over the extended warranty will start.. They did not ask me about it and i even didn't know about the extended warranty.. They handled over the book one day during my service.. Didn't even charge..[emoji52]

Regarding the 2nd issue its a common one.. Nothing to worry.. Happens with me too sometimes.. To avoid this kick start your bike in the morning and leave it running for some minutes.. Do not throttle immediately after starting.. Let the engine run for sometime on neutral.. Then occasionally hit the throttle slowly..

I forgot to mention that I usually service my bikes myself. Hence, I assume that opting for extended warranty is not very necessary. Now that the free services are over, I will carry out periodic maintenance by myself and visiting the service center will be very rare. Thanks for your replies, I will not mess up the carb settings.

Thanks for your advice I prefer not to go with extended warranty as I usually work on all my bikes by myself. I religiously allow a minute or two idling before riding off. I rarely use the self starter as I grew up with an Enfield and enjoy kick-starting a motorcycle

I suppose I let my Gixxer run as she does and wait till the weather to warm up a bit.

                          Hello,

You should have asked the question before shifting to the new oil. Now, you should only tell others.

You mean vibes? Well I can't say anything more than this. I exchanged my RTR 180 for gixxer. Enough said.

Please stick to stock oil and spares.

                          Cheers.

Please stick to stock. The issue may be due to some other fault. Well your description is little exaggerated for this is a very smooth engine. Just saying. Use mild handle grips. The stock ones on RTR were the best. Handle grip won't reduce vibes.

Now for the best suggestion I can think of. Instead of adding handgrips buy a good pair of gloves. You will not even feel the buzz. Plus it's a good protection to you. You should start concentrating on your riding posture too. Correct it to free your arms and shoulders. I have a pair of local gloves for using in the city. They cut out even the smallest of buzzes. Also service your bike properly. Do not torture the engine by revving hard and fast every time. Go easy with it for smoother ownership experience.

                          Cheers.

Time for my second service. I'm getting vibes on the right handle bar and right foot peg once I cross 70. What to do?

Also should I change oil to some other brand? Svc is using idemetsu from first service itself and I feel the sound of the bike has changed and can feel more heat near my foot.
