Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
That's something you should never do ! It's a dangerous practice and prohibited in many places . On downward hill slopes, always run on engine power and use low gears (engine brake) to slow down the descend . Use wheel brakes sparingly only as needed .Originally posted by Hitesh100 View Post.. if i keep the bike in neutral & engine off on the slopes of hill, ..

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I have slight rust on the front fairing mount on the gixxer SF and a couple of bolts on the handle bar, i had told the SVC folks to rectify it during the first service but I didn't check the bike when it was delivered( I was in a hurry, stupid me). After a week or so when asking the SVC mechanics on what to do about it since they hadn't fixed it yet they just said "paint paint" but they seemed hesitant and weren't bothered, on being a little persistent they called a higher up and he told me to come on so and so day because the the service engineer from the company will be in town. BUT luckily i ended up in the SVC one day before what they had specified and the service engineer had come only for that day(whew, what a *coincidence*). He was very nice and we had a long chat about the bike, and on addressing the rusting he directed a mechanic to remove the fairing and use emery paper to clean the area and then paint over the rusted mount, and replace the rusted bolts during the next service. Service is coming up in 10 days they remember my face and they'll probably get it fixed completely this time.

But FS oil is not recommended for 150cc bikes, some say it is for high performance bikes (>200cc)...SS oil or mineral is good for 150cc bikes.Originally posted by on_the_saddle View PostI am using Motul 7100 10W40 FS oil after 2nd service (3500km). Its performance is superlative at best. Gear shifts smoother, better pickup. It is a heaven & hell of a difference when compared to mineral oils. I will check for how many kilometers this smoothness persists. The dealer has told me that this oil will last 5000 km without top up. I recommend this oil to all gixxerians...

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
FS oils are not recommended during break in period as the setting in time will increase due to lower friction between the moving parts; this being true for bikes in all categories. Yes higher (>200cc) performance bikes will be in a better position to utilise the advantages FS oil when compared to lower cc bikes. FS oils may not be recommended as some people say, because the price to utility ratio may not justify its use in lower (<200 cc) bikes.Originally posted by Rahul N View PostBut FS oil is not recommended for 150cc bikes, some say it is for high performance bikes (>200cc)...SS oil or mineral is good for 150cc bikes.
However, that being said, FS oils will always help the engine perform to its peak potential especially during longer runs & there is no restriction on using the same in any bike. It is only the question of how much one is willing to pay for extra performance...

Is the choke on?Originally posted by Rahul N View PostWhen I start my bike in neutral and clutch not engaged after ignition the IDLE RPM is at 1.5k and after engaging clutch with gear in neutral the RPM goes down a bit and when I change to 1st gear with clutch engaged for few seconds the RPM goes down further and when I continue engaging clutch without leaving it the bike turns OFF.
This is exact situation happening when I take U-turn or turn from my small street...Neutral...1st gear...clutch engaged for few seconds...the bike goes off...Then I start it again rev hard to maintain the RPM and continue riding.

Zigwheels voted in for our beloved Gixxer
against Honda Hornet 160R
Can the new Honda CB Hornet 160R displace the Suzuki Gixxer as our choice as the best executive 150cc offering and how does it fare against the genesis of th...
I haven't seen Hornet in real yet. But after test drive will post my experience.
Done with my 3rd service at 6000kms, and friends believe me my Gixxy is as smooth as butter
. I drive around 1000kms per month.
A big thumb up for Autozone (Suzuki dealer located at Okhla , Delhi). They have replaced my rusted shocker bolts under warranty. And done superb service. Solve self start problem too by replacing some wire near to clutch costs only 50rs. Even in cold chilly days here in Delhi, post service my Gixxy haven't missed any self start yet.
Note :
Friends from Delhi , Noida be careful if you going to SR Suzuki dealer located at Noida, UP and Shrishakti dealer from East Krishna Nagar, Delhi. Both showroom are highly unprofessional and don't response even after 1month of followup. I called them constantly over a month for rusted shocker bolts and self start problem. Even they have good mechanics they told "bhaiya next time kar denge le aana" "abhi company se part nahi aaya time lagta hai".
My point is that we are paying money from our pockets. So visit good service station, even if it is far from your place. I learnt this lesson.

Zigwheels rated Gixxer best even when comparing with Fz V 2..
Not only they even Powerdrift praised it a lot.. Loved their review.. Gixxer beat the Fz v2 head to head in their review.. Honda may have good engine but the Hornet doesn't look like a worthy competitor to Gixxer.. And yes Gixxer is very smooth.. All my friends say that..

Similar issue of engine turning off if u press clutch has been reported in other bike threads(AS/RS 200) for the past few days.Originally posted by Rahul N View PostNo no...not at all!!
All things point to bad fuel quality and people have been asked to try a different bunk. In colder climates fuel quality matters.

I've tried LED headlight as suggested by someone earlier in this thread (My apologies to you to not notify your name here). Here are the results.
This is 20Wx2 H4 bulb from aliexpress.com, shipped from Sweden. Need to adjust the focus a bit I suppose.
High Beam:

Low Beam:

Edit: This may need to go to Let there be lights thread. Sharing here as it's setup in my naked gixxer.Last edited by emanoj; 12-25-2015, 03:48 AM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hope you found the solutions to your problems by the time you read my comment. I had this problem with my new bike. I changed the service centre and they were ready to spot out the issue.Originally posted by Rahul N View PostNo no...not at all!!
Idling goes down for one other reason which is due to faulty accelerator cable too.
If the cable is improperly fit onto the bike, or becomes like that with time, then even when you turn the handle bar the revvs fall down.
This was so annoying. I used to find my bike get switched off everytime I took it outside my house and parked it for a moment to close my gate! Need to mention that when I did so, I used side stand and let my handle bar to the left, just for a moment. And sometimes at signals or at speed breakers, I would feel nothing on the accelerator!
Luckily the new service centre sorted out this issue. But this gave rise to another issue which is the on-off feel of the throttle. There is now a sudden surge everytime I twist the throttle at low speeds. High speed response has been incredible though. I like it when I'm cruising in 5th gear. My next agenda is to correct this on-off throttle response.

It just looks so desperate and self-justifying, duh. Remember you ride the bike because you like it and not because it's at the top of the category!
Just focus on improving your riding skills and upgrading to real, bigger capacity bikes!
