I had been facing the same issue for past one month...guys do you believe my mileage was just "26 kmpl"[emoji21] ...took the bike to SVC many times, totally useless people, couldn't even sort out what might be the problem for my issue.

Just yesterday took my bike to a well known local mechanic within 5 minutes he found the issue.

    Issues:-

1.) Timing chain valve's settings was improper, which leads to improper ignition i.e., ignition takes place before the compression stroke fully completes...resulting in more consumption of fuel , lack of power, inconsistent idle RPM.

Solution: Adjust the timing chain settings.

2.) Changed settings of air-fuel ratio screw in carburetor, due to this the bike either runs in lean mixture or rich mixture which causes decrease in fuel efficiency, lack of power etc..

Solution: Remove carburetor, cleaning it once and adjusting the air fuel-ratio screw to correct settings will solve the issues.

Take your bike to SVC explain them all the above stated things and ask them to do the same, if not convinced with SVC take the bike to a well known local mechanic he will solve the problem, as you owned many bikes previously finding a good mechanic might not be a problem for you.

    Sorry for long post[emoji16]

      2) Rusting issues.

      3) Handle doesn't feel straight (post repairs and many adjustments after one small accident)

I approached SVC and they talked about CO setting and all... And they are avoiding things.

I wrote to Suzuki on contact us page around two weeks ago, however they won't reply.

Any one has a different email address of any higher authority... So that we can escalate things.

      Kindly reply.
      1. How old is bike ? How are you measuring Fuel economy ? Full tank to full tank will give more accurate results than reserve method.

      2. Where is the rust ? If you live in coastal areas, it is bound to happen. Post pics .

      3. Do front end alignment , youtube has ample videos regarding it , one guy does it on a R1 . If still it feels like its pulling to one side or not straight , fork tubes might require replacement.

      4. CO setting ? Dont tamper with carb unless you know what can go wrong . Company adjusts carbs for balance between performance and emissions.

Full tank to reserve... Done twice... First time it ran 320 Km and then 300 Km...
FYI.. 10.2 litre is the capacity and reserve is about 1.8 litre.

Your method won't give you proper results.
Following is the tank full to tank full method

          - Fill tank to the brim. Reset trip meter
          - Ride on, say 200 kms
          - Fill the tank to brim again. Note the amount of fuel needed
Now, do the math - if fuel needed for refill is 4 litres, then 200/4 = 50 kms per litre

You got to be kidding me... It's exactly the same thing what I am doing... The only difference is I trip it back to zero when it hits reserve.

How is it going to be same thing that I said? You say you reset it to zero when it hits reserve. So the method you follow is something different, thats why I mentioned it may not fetch you exact results. Also you were mentioning about the tank capacity in your previous post. Measuring mileage based on tank capacity/reserve capacity is also wrong IMO.Do a google search on tank-full to tank-full method, for better understanding.

It should be pretty easy considering it's a carburettor motorcycle. Just feed 100 ml using one of those mileage can/container from SVC/ASC and get the mileage right away.

Use any mileage app or your own spreadsheet or even http://www.fuelly.com/. You just need how much you filled every time and ODO reading during refiling. Over several refills you'll have a better mileage average.

Thats not always true. With such less amount of fuel the variations will be very less. It won't give you the proper mileage. Yes, it will give you the best and worst figures. With this technique the showroom people get 65kmpl from the Gixxer which is insane.
But average, no. For that you need atleast 2L of fuel. So that it will include different terrain and riding styles and everything. This will give you a proper average value.

Yeah, well I can vouch for this to work if you do the following.

                    1. reset trip to zero when you hit reserve
                    2. drive on till you find a petrol station
                    3. fill it, shut it, forget it till you hit reserve again

So then your trip shows the amount of kilometers you rode for the amount of petrol you bought in step 2. Easy peasy.

I usually avoid the brimming, because variations, your brimming may vary from attendant to attendant, from lean to air pockets. I guess you'd need to improvise for something with fuel injection, maybe low fuel indication ? is it consistent enough ?

Guys I had been facing serious issues one by one with my Gixxer for past 1 month, solved some issues...but I couldn't solve some issues, one of the major issue I am facing right now is mileage.

I am getting only 26 kmpl in city and 30 kmpl in highway, with a 150cc bike[emoji29] this is insane. I calculated mileage 4 times repeatedly. I ride normally neither high revving nor low revving. Even Duke gives 25 kmpl.

Please help me out, I got frustrated!![emoji20]

                      Comment ASAP please.

                      TIA!!

Are you facing issue even after the Carb was cleaned. ?

                        Try to

Change fuel station - Try to fuel at Petrol bunk owned by vel tech colleges at Avadi.
The fuel bunk near your place has made me go crazy twice. I got a mileage in 30ees.

Adjust Tappets. Come home this weekend. We can do some experiment with your bike. I purchased the tappet adjustment tool.

Yes. Using HID / Projector lights illuminating white colour is illegal in India. However i also fitted HID Bulb for my Gixxer.

In Chennai, No cops are checking the Headlights. But in other places, some cops asked me why you installed this light, informed its illegal and asked me to remove it.

As for me, it is not much useful in highway, as the white bulb's road visibility is low.
