Sometimes i hit 4k RPM and a speed of 60 kmph
I have driven 160kms in 4 days. My daily travel is about 42kms.
Now my shift pattern is -

    0-10/13 kmph 1st gear
    10-23/24 kmph 2nd gear
    24-36 3rd kmph gear
    36-45 4th kmph gear
    45 kmph onwards 5th gear

Is this good? Will this give me a mileage of 50+

I don't brake hard or accelerate hard.. Gradual acceleration.

Sorry for a long post, but i am a hardcore technology geek and i always had a moped. This is my first attempt to even understand bikes. So please help out.

First of all a hearty congrats on your new motorcycle & welcome to the forum,

IMO the best way to 'hone in' a brand new engine is to vary engine speeds and not ride constantly on one rpm. Do not over rev in low gear nor 'lug' the motor in high gear.

After meticulous 'running in' of my Gixxer, I have now clocked 8k in one year & get consistent 50+- 2 kmpl. The best she has delivered till date is 56kmpl and the worst has dipped till 48.

    Ride safe & cheers!

            Hello,
Can anybody suggest alternate rear tyre for gixxer. My tyre gets punctured every 2-3 weeks. I'm tired of repairing punctures which cost Rs 100/- for each puncture.

Not to worry. I did a trip last year where I was averaging 6000-6500 rpm.
The fuel economy average for the whole trip was ~38. Which is decent, because I rode the bike between 90-120.
Here in India our cities are crazy congested and we rarely reach 60kmph.
Hence we get higher mileage as we are forced to ride snail-like speeds.
                          Cheers!

Even I'm facing the oil leak from same location for past 3 months. Everytime I visit SVC they are telling we changed the gasket there wont be any issue, but issue is still there.

Get the gasket changed in front of your eyes. Don't leave the bike at SVC and walk away. Get the work done right in front of you.

                                Hi guys,
Brought the Gixxer DT rear disc on 24th May. Handling is superb. on the day i went to buy Gixxer, which was 60km, on my brother bike (non Gixxer). the (twisty n hilly) road was broken n full of potholes for half of journey. speed could barely touch 40kmph . but on return journey, on Gixxer, it easily touch 50kmph, run n twist easily on broken n potholes. faced no problem at all. while my brother have trouble negotiating broken road. if you live in hilly places, this is the bike I'll suggest.

I've little query to older experienced rider: it may look silly. I'm in break-in period, my RPM reading is mostly at around 3000 RPM , only touch 4000 RPM on few times, will riding steady at 3000 damage the engine? or I should take it for long ride to touch 4000?
