Tyre cracks! Should I replace the tyres? Bike is 11k run and 2.5 years old. Showroom said no warranty on tyres after 4 months or 2nd service.

Mrf quoting 2950, Michelin 2900 and pirelli sport Daemon 160/70 17- 2800 . I'm not sure why the pirelli is so less , he has only 1 stock which he wants to sell I guess.

Check the manufacturing date of the tyre. It might be an old tyre which he's trying to sell.

The Michelin must be the pilot sporty. Avoid it at all costs.

go for mrf. Michelin don't have the same profile Tyres for gixxer. only ceat and mrf has the same profile tyres.

The Michelin in question is Pilot Street. It is quite expensive at ₹5500.

Pilot sporty has poor grip in the wet and okay-ish grip in the dry. Apart from the universal bad reviews, I've ridden a P220 and an FZ with pilot sporty, and they weren't good.

The last 4 digits in the above image give the manufacturing date. In the image, it says that the tyre was manufactured in the 29th week of 16 (2016).

For normal usage the stock MRF is good enough. If you want a change, MRF Masseter seems like a good tyre. However 140/70 raises the seat height and improves the ground clearance slightly.

                I'm searching for a tyre under 3.5 k.

Stock is good enough. The sport demons are fine as long as they're not too old. I guess the masseter costs ₹3700, I'm not sure.

I'm not sure about that. Different sources give different information regarding this. Personally I wouldn't accept a tyre which is more than 1 year old.

Ok thanks for all this info bro. Also does my tyre look like it needs replacement? The cracks are not too deep. I'll visit mrf replacement branch today and see what they have to tell regarding replacement or pro-rata whichever possible.

                        • Gixxer Naked BS4 Mileage and clutch Issues

                          Hi,
I have done about 800 Kms on my bike and also got my first service done midway.
I am getting about 31 kmpl in the city which is pretty low as against the company acclaimed 50+ kmpl. Is this common with all gixxers..?

I feel the clutch is tight and gear shifts are slightly hard and noisy. Put the bike on center stand in gear and then tried to rotate rear wheel while holding down the clutch felt like the wheel is not free. Is this also a common problem?

If not then what can be the solutions to these two problems. Any help would be appreciative.

                          Thanks

Get the clutch lever free play adjusted. This is a common issue.

Was there a difference in the wheel spinning when in neutral and when in gear (and pressing the clutch)? Normally the wheel does not rotate freely when the bike is on centre stand.

I suspect that you haven't calculated the mileage correctly. Calculate mileage using the full tank to full tank method (please search Google). Do this calculation at least 2-3 times and then you'll get a fairly accurate mileage.

I have completed 1000kms on my gixxer and I am getting around 55kmpl in city. First full tank ran for 600kms and still didn't come to reserve. Bike is due for first service now. Any idea how much they charge for first service?

In first service they'll change the oil and the oil filter for which they charge. Labour is free. It'll be around 450 i guess depending on cost of oil

I am facing a vibration that extends throughout the bike including footpegs at 3k rpm in almost all the gears except first and second. And this is only at that particular rpm, not there below or above it. It's strange, any help regarding this problem would be greatly appreciated.

                                Thanks,
My gixxer has buzz at 4.5 to 5k rpm and after 6.5k rpm. Don't know what's the issue but I'm used to it. I ride at 5k to 6.5k rpm which is around 70 to 85kmph on the highways mostly
