Well one of my friend changed his front brake pad at 7k km..because it was making a lot of sound and he had poor response from the front brake.

So looks like, milage-wise, Hornet may be better, but on looks, fun, performance and handling, gixxer stands out!

    More queries:

1.if one wants to do lots of highway rides too alonwith daily city use of 5-6 kms, would sf be better? Does fairing really makes highway riding more comfortable?

    2. In sf, crash/leg guard is not fitted!

    3. Which one would be better for rides in hilly areas? naked or sf?

    4. Will there be difference in milage in naked and sf?

    5. Can tank bag and saddle bags be easily used on both of these bikes? Or will fairing will obstruct using tank bag on long rides?

    Thanks for your time
1.faired bikes will always be better than the naked ones on the highway as they provide protection from the wind..not fully but still to some extent.

2.no you cannot fit an leg/crash guard on sf.

3.I own a naked one so can't comment..but depends on your test ride..on how comfortable you are..my friend owns a sf and he has taken it hilly regions without any problem..if you encounter a bad patch of hllyroads with rocks there's a chance of the bottom fairing being scratched.

4.not much difference.depends on the riding condition.

    5.tank bags can be used.

So I think I will go with anan aftermarket one..but since you own the naked version do u have any cable rubbine against the side head.light panels? My throttle cable rubs against the headlight panel.
Nope, no cable is rubbing against the cowls.

As I have mentioned in the earlier post about an off road fail now I think I have a slightly bend handlebar..but its riding fine....is it OK to ride with a bent bar..will it snap off in the middle of a ride?

It wont be if it's not bent to a grim extent
              Go to a mech
Tell him to reattach the holders on the triple tree clamp of the handle after loosening it
If possible tell him to do some jugaads to make it straight
              Though its not recommended
Because on higher speeds a bent handlebar means inviting tank slappers to dinner
If possible change it with a new one

Every geared motorcycle will have one engine oil for everything. There isn't anything specific called gear oil in bikes.
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

                  Guys I have a question.
Recently done with my first service, all well and good.
In last few days I noticed my engine oil level was not at the full mark, it settles in between max and min level after parked, attached are the pics for reference, is that an OK level or needs top-up?
I spoke to SVC guys, they said it's fine, when asked why the level is not at full, they said it is indeed full and if I park the bike for say 3-4 days then every single drop will be drained to tank and it will at max level. They said they can top-up if I really wanted to. Wasn't sure so I left as it is.
So is this level fine or needs topping?

Was this picture taken immediately after riding and is the bike on the centre stand?

                        • Intermittent squeaking noise from Front Wheel at low speeds

                          Hi Guys,

Totally new to the world of biking, and the technicalities related to it, but I have been following xbhp quite closely for sometime now and due to the same I have been able to know a lot about my bike and some of the common problems associated to bikes as well. I have been facing a serious problem for quite some time now with my gixxer. Its not a problem that strands me or doesnt let me ride but definitely irritates the hell out of me. I have been hearing a squeak kinda intermittent noise from the front wheels (or discs or anything else, not sure, just know that its from the front), and this is only at low speeds. Maybe its there at high speeds as well, but I am not able to hear it due to engine noise and wind probably. I took it to the service centre twice, once at Trivandrum and then at Kollam, Kerala. Both the times, they said it was due to the dust accumulation in the disc, but I dont think so as the sound is there immediately even after cleaning the discs also. Has anyone else faced this issue, please help me out if you have any idea about what could be the problem. Could it be the wheel bearings or soemthing that connects between the forks and the wheel? Is some sort of lubrication needed? Please give me some pointers to sort this problem. And anybody knows any good motorcycle service centres around Kollam who are familiar with modern bikes? Hoping I will get the help needed over here.

As per my experience the oil level in picture clearly tells that the oil level is not full(i.e.half) so to be tension free topup at home or SVC and ride.
These SVC are saving oil by telling this silly reasons !
