Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I bought my bike from Advaith Suzuki, Basavangudi and I must admit they did the entire process very professionally and were courteous to all my queries. Also read some nice reviews about them on servicing too, maybe you can try.
My 1st service is due in another 2-3 days, I can update post that.

I did an average of 90-100 for about 40 minutes, could stretch the driving up to an hourOriginally posted by Fagant View PostHey guys, I wanted to know that how gixxer will perform out on the highways. What should be the average cruising speed, without straining the engine? And can it hold the cruising speed whole day long? As my run in period is over, second service is done too, I'm thinking of attempting some long rides on my gixxer. Looking forward for valuable suggestions and opinions.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Thanks mate! I'm going for a 650 kms ride tomorrow, both ways. Will try to hold the speed at around 80. Let's see how the bike performs.Originally posted by uchun View PostI did an average of 90-100 for about 40 minutes, could stretch the driving up to an hour

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
When u spin the rear wheel when on center stand the tak tak sound is actually the speedo, better post a video of the sound before jumping to conclusions.Originally posted by SOMESH SHINDE View PostYes I adjusted the chain slack to 2-3 cms but the sound is still coming !
Is it a serious matter or it will go away with time ?
Or the misalignment of wheel is the reason behind it ?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Don't have this bike with me anymore, but when I used to clean the rear tyre and spin it a little, I too heard that low tak tak sound.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostPlease explain this.
I am not sure if it was this thread or not, but read somewhere here that it's due to the speedometer sensor connector somewhere near the front sprocket....correct me if I am wrong.
I will try it on my CBR tomorrow and see if it happens. Will post a video then.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I've taken my SF to some quite long rides (max ~500 km in a day). The bike performs great on highways. You can do 100 for stretches but I guess ~80 should be the ideal speed. Whole day long shouldn't be an issue with regular small breaks both you and your bike need them.Originally posted by Fagant View PostHey guys, I wanted to know that how gixxer will perform out on the highways. Partly right.Originally posted by kannanmr16 View PostI am not sure if it was this thread or not, but read somewhere here that it's due to the speedometer sensor connector somewhere near the front sprocket....correct me if I am wrong.
As far as my understanding goes, there's no physical contact between the sprocket and the sensor. It's electromagnetic.
There is a magnetic field surrounding the pickup coil, in close proximity to the sprocket. Now all electrons have their own magnetic fields and when you introduce a magnetic field to a wire, it moves those electrons.
In this case, we have a stagnant magnetic field not doing anything with that coil. When the (sprocket) tooth passes in front of the pickup coil's face (a bare metal pole) it disturbs and moves that magnetic field. This movement or change in flux excites the electrons and they start to flow very fast and for a very minute period time creating a low voltage pulse. This pulse generated by the pickup coil now goes to the ECU (brain), where it is amplified first, then goes into the computer (buffer and data registry 16/32 bit chip), processes the pulse count and in turn creates its own set of pulses to drive a metering chip for the LCD on the dash.
That chip basically unwinds that code of on/off pulses and translates it into a numerical value you can read.Last edited by Divya Sharan; 08-20-2016, 12:12 AM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
It may not be serious problem now , but generally speaking anything on a bike making unusual noise means something is not working right and accelerated wear & tear is to be expected . And I would not go for long rides on lonely roads on a bike in this conditionOriginally posted by SOMESH SHINDE View PostYes I adjusted the chain slack to 2-3 cms but the sound is still coming ! It's not possible to tell the exact reason for your chain noise from here . But common causes may be 1) rear sprocket misalignment 2) dry , dirty chain needing lubrication 3) worn chain or sprockets 4) improper chain slack 5) chain set damaged by wrong maintenance ( loss of a few rings on an o-ring chain , for example ) etc .
First thing I would try is to check rear sprocket bearings , lubricate it with grease , align it correctly . Then inspect the chain , clean & lubricate it , adjust slack - following correct procedure for the chain type ( refer to the instructions on the owner's book ) .Last edited by Pinaki; 08-20-2016, 12:32 AM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I am getting slight pain with Gixxer's handlebar and thinking of changing it.
Is there any difference between FZ's handlebar and Gixxer's? because I feel comfortable handling Fazer.
Has anyone changed your handlebar? Thank you.
