Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
1- vibrations are normal.. at least according to me..I have vibs on the bottom part of the tank where we apply the tankpad..that too only at 4.5-5k rpm.few of my friends too have it.Originally posted by Rakesh M View PostHello everyone I'm Rakesh, newbie here.
I was looking for bike that could do a daily commute of 60km everyday.
The following bikes were considered
1. Royal Enfield - Thunderbird, Classic and newly launched Himalayan.
Took TD of all vehicles and I almost went for Thunderbird i really liked the comfort it offered, but there was a waiting period of 2 months so had to look some other options.
2. Honda -
The only bike that liked was Hornet, TD was good but i've already had enough of Honda so went against it.
3. Suzuki-
Well i had Gixxer in my mind, watched lot of comparo's between Honda Hornet and Suzuki Gixxer, all of the comparisons favored Gixxer, took TD of Hornet and Gixxer back to back, I liked Gixxer and booked it on the spot, opted for Suzuki Gixxer SP edition (Naked version).
Pros-
1. Looks, it does good isn't it?
2. Pick up- compared to Hornet it's really good, thanks to low end torque
3. Efficiency- had done 600 odd km's till now, getting around 50-55km
4. Build quality is awesome.
Con's-
Need help in this-
1. Vibrations- Getting vibrations around tank area and right foot peg, is it normal to get vibrations before 1st service??
2. Engine burning smell after continuous riding for about 20-30kms
3. Gears - really hard sometimes, up shifting is easy but downshifting is troublesome.
4. Braking- well the rear disk makes lot of noise, when asked SVC guys says its normal and it will fade away, is it really normal??

2- don't worry about the smell..its still a new engine..will go away with more kms you clock.don't worry.its normal.I too had the smell..
3-will get better after first service..after oil change the engine and gear shift will be Mich smoother.
4-can't comment on the braking as I own the rear drum brake one..
my daily commute is also 60km
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
guys anyone having problem with kickstarter? my self start is working fine..but the bike takes 8-9 kickstarts to start..even after it starts it turns off.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Guys, After serviced & oil changed last week my bike was running smoothly. Even today's morning it was fine. But at afternoon when i started my bike it was not that smooth & making slightly weard noise & changed vibration. After reaching home I checked engine oil indicator & it's showing milky white oil. (I think water is in my engine oil. Day before yesterday my bike was standing in rain whole day) What can I do now? Is it normal??

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Team,
I bought gixxer sf in Aug 2016 as i am impressed with the pick up of this bike,
Show room person set the idle speed at 1500rpm, but after running for few km i observed engine heating issue, i know about heating issue in gixxer but to check if any thing wrong i went to show room guy and he reduced the idle time to 1200, but i observed much drop in pick up and engine heating issue is exist but i continued as i aware of this issue in gixxer. clocked 700+ and my first servicing is also done. but still my engine heating issue is there and engine also giving so much grunting noise after 4000 rpm.
I worried about this engine grunting noise, low pickup and heating.
can any one please suggest is it normal with gixxer? or any thing can be done to avoid the noise and improve the pick up.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Pick up will drop if idle RPM is decreased, top speed will increase. For heating issue, give it sometime, 700 Kms are too less to judge the engine.. you should not cross 4000 rpm until 1600Kms .. Engine will tune itself by then.Originally posted by prasad g View PostTeam,

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
AFAIK, pick up/top speed has no relation to idle RPM!Originally posted by rav3n6 View PostPick up will drop if idle RPM is decreased, top speed will increase. We may feel that pick up is affected as we need to give slightly more throttle to raise the RPM to move forward.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
so it has relation. because when i test rode it and when i bought its like ready to jump for little throttle also but now it feels like pickup is equal to my previous unicorn 150 after reducing idle speed which i dont like, my main requirement is pickup and mileage. other friend in other thread said carb settings should be tuned for better pick up, but i have to wait for 90days more for my second service. i am not able to enjoy the riding. I want best pick up.Originally posted by SatSon View PostAFAIK, pick up/top speed has no relation to idle RPM!

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
If you increase the idle rpm to say 1800-2000, the bike will start moving forward once you leave the clutch, you wouldn't need throttle input.Originally posted by prasad g View Postso it has relation. because when i test rode it and when i bought its like ready to jump for little throttle also but now it feels like pickup is equal to my previous unicorn 150 after reducing idle speed which i dont like, my main requirement is pickup and mileage. other friend in other thread said carb settings should be tuned for better pick up, but i have to wait for 90days more for my second service. i am not able to enjoy the riding. But that is not the way a bike should behave. Stick to idle rpm setting mentioned by the manufacturer.
Increased idle RPM means, fuel wastage, more heat while waiting at signals etc.
So my advice would be to stick to Suzuki recommended idle setting, wait for few more kms on the odo - eventually, you will start enjoying the bike

Which will gradually increase to 1500 when the engines warmed up if someone hasn't read the manual

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Yes, i too read same in manual, but svc guy changed to 1500, i asked why you increasing he said it will be problem in cold start as its cool weather. after two days i went to svc again to complain again on heating issue he reduced to 1200 but still my pick up was better at that time, now its too low, and i need to frequently do the gear shifting but others said we don't need to do frequent gear shifts. does you people all faced similar issue? at what speeds you guys shifting gears and how efficiently your higher gears pulling in lower speeds? my bikes second gear feeling stressed even at 10km speed throttle response is not crisp, but its doing fine after 18km, I am thinking to give to other service center but my fear is void of warranty.Originally posted by debargha.kit2 View PostThat is 1200-1300
