what kind of sound? `usually it may happen during the break in period. For complete break in it takes almost 8-10k KM. Only then your engine will become truly free.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Awesome review mate.. Really helpful..:-)Originally posted by ravik View Postwriting a long due review. Bought my bike in January 2015. Till now i have covered around 32000 KM on my black gixxer. I think what they say that one develops a relationship with the bike, is very much true. In last one and half year not a single day has passed when i have not adored this bike. Decided to write a detailed review after a long time. Hope it helps.
- Bike Handling: I would say i have found the perfect bike in terms of handling. Since it is very light weight with good amount of engine power, it becomes very easy to handle the bike. Also its broad handle bars will never let you loose control . Round profile tyres make cornering fun. I have tried to bend the bike on curves. I was able to let my toe touch the ground
(Though not advisable) - Riding posture and pillion seat: I loved the riding posture. Not very sporty/ front bending like pulsar, not very commuter like. Just the right amount of tilt in the posture. Once you will get habituated to its riding posture, riding other commuter bike will feel like riding a child's bike
. Riders seat is very comfortable and suitable for long rides (>300 KMs). Though pillion ride is not very comfortable for longer rides. Their back may hurt after a long drive. Nevertheless one can always add an extra layer of cushion/seat cover. - Engine: One of the best in class. Very smooth and relatively vibration free. Gives ample power to overtake. It can take you upto 100-105 KMPH in no time but then it takes its own time to reach the maximum speed. Max speed also depends on the inclination of the road. I have attained 126 kmph max speed. I liked sound of the engine. During overtakes bike tends to attract people's attention. Best speed for cruising according according to me is 80-95KMPH. Engine wont sound stressed at all and vibrations will be very less. Once you will cross 100 mark vibrations come into play. Though they are very much manageable upto its top speed.
- Engine oil: I changed the oil to fully synthetic "motul 300v easter technology" from the original oil available in suzuki SVCs. It made a huge difference in engine smoothness. pickup became better. Gear shift became awesome. Now I get that "clunk" noise while shifting the gear. However motul 300v is little expensive (around 1000-1100). I bought it from Amazon.
- Headlights: I think i have experimented with the headlight of my gixxer the most. I have tried HID, LED, LED with projector, 55/60 watt halogen, 55/60 watt philips xtreme vision plus. Of all the lights i found that HID provides probably the best focus and road visibility. However there are several issues with it. The biggest issue is its unreliability. Those Chinese HIDs are highly unreliable and can stop working without any prior sign. Other than this they are disaster for other vehicles coming from the front. They are illegal. i found it accidentally when traffic police stopped me once. Also there is one technical issue i felt with HID lights. Usually all the normal headlights are designed as such that they illuminate the left side of the road with good brightness. This is because when a truck or other vehicle is coming, you can atleast see where the road ends on the left side. It prevents accidents. I found this lacking in HID lights. So until and unless you buy HID lights from philips or some reputed brand along with its projectors i will suggest dont go for it. HID lights from philips cost around 10,000 rs. LED lights with projector are very weak and not at all suitable for night driving until you buy it from some reputed brand. But again it will be very costly. Second best (or probably the best) option is Philips xtreme vision (60 watts). Very balanced throw. I like it very much and have been using it for more than 8000 KM. No issues with battery or electrical system. For those who do not want to change the lights you can try to put headlight switch in between off and on position so that both upper and dipper will light up at once. it provides good throw. I drove the bike for a long duration with this formula. But main issue is that switch will wear out eventually and also you wont be getting upper and dipper.
- Tyre: I recently changed the tyres (31000 KM). Bought the stock tyre (Revz-M) for rear and Zapper FQ for front(MRF dealer said zapper FQ has better "goti" or tyre pattern than stock tyre so bought it. Both has same price). Total cost was 5200. 2000 for front and 3200 for rear. Riding became like new one
. These tubeless tyres are really good. I have driven my bike for more than 3000Km with a big nail inside the tyre. - Braking: Rear brakes are not very effective and can only be used to slow down the bike. However if you will use both the brakes simultaneously braking becomes awesome. Bike remains always under control. However do remember one thing: DO NOT APPLY HARD BRAKING (BOTH SIMULTANEOUSLY) AND BEND THE HANDLE AT ONCE. I have found that most of the time front tyre skids because people apply front brakes and take a short turn to avoid collision. It creates serious issue as the tyre will skid for sure. Just be confident and never take even the slightest of the turn. You may not avoid the collision but impact will be much lesser than the damage you will cause by turning the handle. And to tell you the truth i have applied panic braking and till now i have not faced any issue. Stopping distance is awesome for this bike. I recently changed the front brake pads after driving for around 30,000 KM)
- Chain: I have face some issues in the chain since the beginning. around 8000 km during a long trip (500 km in a day) chain started giving "tak-tak" noise in one full rotation. Went to the SVC but they dint help. Ultimately i posted the issue on gixxer FB page regarding the issue and in a day or two i got several calls from SVC technicians from various places. Chain was then changed for free of cost. I was really happy to see company's attitude. (issue was two of the goti/keys in chain was jammed).Since then i have driven my bike for more than 22000 KM. Now again that same sound has started to come. may be its time to change the chain. Though SVC mechanic said that the locking key(yellow one) is not working properly. It can be changed without changing the whole chain. So if anyone else is having the same issue kindly get it checked. Usually there wont be any issue with the alignment or sprockets.
- Chain lubrication: I use motul lubrication and roll on/motul chain cleaner. I usually clean the chain every 600-800 km.
- Bike washing and polishing: At present I use 3 M shampoo and formula one carnauba wax polish. Awesome both are. After polishing bike shines like a new one. I have been asked this question after every polish "when did you buy a new bike?"
Earlier I tried wax polish from waxpol and used to wash my bike with detergent powder. But formula one and 3 M changed my thinking.- Some tips for polishing with formula one::
- wash your bike and remove all the hard stain/dirt/mud.
- dry it in the sun/in shade wherever you like.
- park the bike in shade and apply one coat of the polish. Only a thin coat will be sufficient. Then after drying remove the polish using micro-fibre cloth. Rub softly.
- Polishing whole bike will take at least 45 min to 1 hour. But at the end you will be happy to see the results.
- Please do not let the polish dry in direct sunlight. It will become very difficult to remove it (though you can remove it)
- I have found that this polish stays for a month or so depending upon your driving conditions.
- Some tips for polishing with formula one::
- Mileage: I never really cared/checked the mileage. But i guess initially i got it around 50+KMPH. Now it has certainly decreased. May be around 40+. But I am not very sure. But you will definitely get more mileage on highways/long trips than in city riding. Besides my riding style is rough so cant really comment.
Some of the questions I have encountered on this forum I want to answer. Many of them are included in the review above. See if it can help:- Is this bike suitable for long rides?
Answer: Yes.. I have completed very long trips. In one day i have covered maximum of 630 KMs without any issue/any serious body ache. Engine can take longer trips. Just take pit stops in every 2 hour. Good for keeping your mind focused on the road and will reduce body pain.- Is pillion seat comfortable?
Answer: I would say yes for shorter rides. But for longer rides it may become painful for the pillion. I once completed around 500 KM with a friend of mine. She was complaining about her back pain. (though i did not use any cushioned seat cover) I guess you can get everything in a single bike
- What should be the frequency of chain cleaning?
Answer: You should clean and lube your chain in between 600-1000 KM depending upon the situation under which you are driving. I clean it every 700-800KM.- What headlights to use?
Answer: Use philips xtreme vision/osram nightbreaker unlimited. Both are good. Avoid HID.
At last I would say this is one of the fantastic bikes available in this price range. For those who want to buy a new bike go for it. I would suggest better go for its fully faired version because of aerodynamic stability. I have checked gixxer site. Now both front and rear disk brake version is available. Go for that version. When I bought it faired version or double disk version wasnt launched. You will definitely love gixxer. If you have any more questions please ask. I would be happy to answer them if i know.
I need one help from the community. I want to install two fog lights (LED ones, 27 watt each) on each side on the leg guard. Would it be possible to draw a total of that much current from the bike? (27x2=54 watt + 60 watt headlight + tail and turning lights)

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Yes..back monoshock is covered in warrant.i got a replacement recently. I think suspension of Gixxer have lesser quality than other bikes like fz,ns200.etc .. the replaced shock is an endurance made one.. i didn't see that name in previous shock..Originally posted by eddyjamerson View PostHello to all.
After almost 10,000 kms and 19 months of ownership/riding, my bike's monoshock has given up the ghost (leaking oil). Will it be covered under warranty? How much will a replacement cost?
Any suggestion will be helpful. Thanks.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
It is a matter of personal choice. Some people like seat cover because it protects the original seat for years.Originally posted by Faiz Syed View PostHi everyone,is it necessary to get an additional seat cover on top of stock seat cover?special edition has red cover it looks good.
I do not like them and like the look n feel of stock seats.
Also, from my personal experience, seat covers other than black get faded out soon.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hey Guys,
I own a naked black Suzuki Gixxer. I bought it this year May - June.
I've covered 1450 Kms till date and i'm satisfied.
I recently got the second free service done and as you know the pathetic service centers, i got one query to ask you guys that,
When i bought the bike, the throttle response was great and while shifting from neutral to 1st gear as soon as i released the clutch lever the bike used to start rolling,
But after the first service when i released the clutch lever i had to release it more in order to get the bike rolling.
And when i got the second service done, after that i have to almost release the clutch lever quite a lot in order to get the bike moving, is it normal? Or is there some issue?
.
'Sorry for any mistakes that might have happend with my post, as i'm new to XBHP, it might take some time getting used to'
Thanks in advance guys!
